@@ColeHrusovsky Sorry to break it to you, but it did work. The page has been up for many months now. I ended up not applying to the school because I am going to move soon.
This is so helpful! I want to start editing Wikipedka and didn't have a clue where to start. Now I feel much more confident. I'm going to see if you have anymore videos. Thank you!
I am confused to why my page is nominated for speedy deletion. I want a video on how it works and what you can do stop an article from getting deleted.
@@KamilAbbadi1 Buenos dias, yo no puedo comunicar bien en espanol, pero usted puede buscar en el wikipedia espanol si quiere ayuda. I can help you in english if you speak it. Lo siento.
Hello Sir, When I clicked your video for a reference regarding the creation of a new Wikipedia page, I really found it very useful. But, let me tell you one thing. After adding Reflist, you are including the citation in the reference section. Here the video runs very fastly that I am unable to understand what you are doing there. Can you please help me in this regard, Sir? Thanks in advance, Sir.
Might want to review these videos where I edit references. The reflist is added once at the bottom of the page. Then references can be created using the reference creation tool. Will look into doing more detail in another video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9dASQFOKzSs.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0YrS-L47SnY.html
@@TheWikiShowEdits I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart, Sir for your awesome response and I felt very happy when I learned that you would do another video in detail to clarify my confusion 🙏🙏🙏.
I'm making a wikipedia for a band, but there's already a different band with the same name, so I don't know how to create the page for it. Do you know how to go about that?
Why doesn't my Wikipedia look as simple as yours? Yours looks pretty basic like writing an essay but mine looks like I'm coding? Sorry if I sound confusing, but if anybody knows what I mean and how to help it would be much appreciated!
The editor in the video is so much more organized and easy to handle, while we are always taken to sandbox for editing. How can I switch to the editor in the video ?
I do not seem to go to where you show on the video, there is now a new user landing page. en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:New_user_landing_page&page=Parosha+Chandran And when I start creating the page name is my username rather than the person I want to write about! how can I solve this? Thank you
If you want to write an article, first you have to create an account and make constructive contributions for at least a week. This is to help slow the spread of spam.
@@TheWikiShowEdits sir, at first I will thank to you for your kind answer. Already created an account and updated my local area information, and successfully done watching your video. Sir, I can't create infobox toll using template for my local government office description and can't create box for different description. Please if you create new video how to do. Thank you 😊
@@smartshoesmart9419 bro, Wiki says, "your article is still in Draft Space, and it might take months to publish, so is this real? Will my draft be published after months?" Tnx.
Hey i have successfully created a Wikipedia page, but these messages show up and i don't understand here are the messages: This article relies too much on references to primary sources. Please improve this by adding secondary or tertiary sources This article has not been added to any content categories. Please help out by adding categories to it so that it can be listed with similar articles
For the first tag, it means the sources for page are too close to the subject. Example, an article about a website uses the website itself as a source. This is fixed by finding sources that are not connected to or authored by the subject. The second tag, involves adding catagorys to an article. They are located at the bottom of the page. There is a tool in the edit menu to assist in finding and adding categories. Both are common issues for new articles with basic referencing.
This is not something that can be avoided. Not all pages are suitable for Wikipedia. The only way is to prove notoriety with academic sources. Part of being a good editor is listening to the editing community. Pages are not nominated for deletion arbitrarily and usually have feedback as to why.
I am confused as to why my page was recommended for quick deletion. I want a video on how it works and what you can do to prevent deleting an article. Please anyone who has expert help, may the Lord bless you
It might be because it didn't fit Wikipedia's notability standards. Many Wikipedia articles are deleted this way so don't worry. Type up "Wikipedia notability" in the Google search engine and it should be the the first result you see.
how long does it take approx for the article to publish. I have made an article on an OS, and it says after page has been created, like many said here, Draft:nameofsubject. In my case, nameofos. Reading the comments, I got to know that it'll go once published. But how long will it take to do so? because down below, there is abox which says article not submitted for review
This is a good question that will be addressed in more detail in an upcoming video. An article will remain in draftspace until a registered autoconfirmed or page move user moves it into main space. To request it to be moved place: {{subst:submit}} In wikitext, at the top of the article draft.
I knew all this. But how do I make a page when there is no red text, just a link to an unrelated artical? Dorsn't work when searching the future article name either.
But why do you have to speed up some of the most important parts of this videos? you're teaching us how to something and u speed it up, how are we supposed to learn?
Why is his text instantly appearing on the page? If it is a copy paste, is the clipboard part of the wiki creation page or is he using the clipboard on his own computer?
When I search something to make an article on it, after clicking the red link it doesn’t show a blank space where I can edit. It shows “the article that your looking for doesn’t exist”,
Wikipedia seems very obtuse in its descriptions. If I have selected "publish" and it says "Draft: xxxxx" can I assume that it's just pending review now?
Hi, I just made a wikipedia out of my favorite actress, but it says draft and I want it to be just the person's name. How long does it take for it to go away? I tried everything to get rid of the draft word.
That is normal. Before you make a new page, you first need to have some experience with general editing. That sandbox is a good way of making editing tests. Or you make general editing fixes, like the ones I highlight regularly on my channel.
Great step by step but...toooo fast...you were doing so many little tweaks that I couldn't follow even pausing the vid rapidly. have you made a more detailed version? I like your voice and style, music etc, really would be happy for a lot longer vid, Cheers
@@TheWikiShowEdits I think your delivery is terrific honestly. Trying to get through the Wikipedia learning curve atm so hungry for insider knowledge. Happy New Year!
This information is no longer current. You are not taken to a blank page but told to practice first elsewhere. Can you refer me to a currently accurate video or could you kindly update this one? Many thanks!
Thanks I will check up on it. Sometimes it give the practice page to new users. I'd recommend watching my video on using draftspace. It's the preferred way to create a new article. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8lm9AcZ7FjI.html
@@TheWikiShowEdits how do you create a central bold title in the infobox? For example… the musical career heading in Beyoncés infobox? How do you get a title to look like that?
Use an infobox template for musician. It will have most of the formatting your need built in. A look at the source code, can tell you which style was used.
@@TheWikiShowEdits it hasn’t solved the slight issue. It is bold title text just like the born, birth name and children titles on the left but the only difference is it is centrally aligned in the infobox like a new title.
@@BoxySonic That might take months. Its caleld a Article for creation. if you really wanted to publish right away you can hit "more" then "move" then select the article namespace and hit move.
Can you use an image link from another site or does it always have to be added to Wikimedia Commons before adding it to a page? I'm trying to add a copied location image (link) to show up on someone's page. I guess I need to know how to use the code for it to appear, cause it only shows as a link.
Images that are embedded in the page need to be on wiki commons or wikipedia. If it's an external image and you do not have image rights, it can't be placed on the page. Sometimes an external like placed at the bottom of the page is permitted.
I wanted to create a wiki page for my store. I have never had an account and when trying to create one it says I’m blocked for whatever this means [[WP:Disruptive editing|Disruptive editing]]
Either you or someone using your IP address, created or made a large quantity of unhelpful edits. As such, the ability to create accounts has been blocked. Further more, you can not create a page for a store, especially if you have any financial involvement.
@@TheWikiShowEdits I’ve never had an account but That totally makes sense that I wouldn’t be allowed to do that. Thinking of it from a fraudulent perspective. I just wanted to make generic 2-3 line description. This “store” is an American based multinational e-commerce Business that primarily sells vintage hard goods through the ebay platform. Started this day by this person. No link or anything so it’s not advertising. Just making record of its existence doesn’t seem harmful to me. I don’t think it’s false or misleading. Just a fancy way to say I sell things on eBay internationally online.
i have created a user name as my company name , then i tried to edit company info on article , it got blocked , due to promotion , now what should i do to create a new account for company ? can i create from same IP ( Company internet) ?
@@DomDevareauxCo First of all is the artist notable? Cause Wikipedia articles cannot be created for people that are not notable according to Wikipedia guidelines
Sir , i hv published my self article ......can u please tell me in how much time that article would be visible to other people when they search on google ???????? Please sir tell me fast
You must have an autoconfirmed account to upload. If so then see my video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_BFwzxWeab4.html And it should work
hi Shamin, you don't need any autoconfirmed account for this. most probably, you have submitted somewhere else on the internet also. if you have any domain and you can send an email to the Wikipedia foundation from your domain-based email address then they will accept (any OTRS member) your image and your image will not get deleted easily.
If I want to create a page for the company I work for? We have the reliable media (notability) but I read that I have to enunciate that I'm being paid for doing that. So what I have to do to create the company's wiki page?
For those that ask, I do not create wikipedia pages for viewers. I also strictly adhear to notability guidlines for articles.
