I get cold easily so wanted to make the campfire cardigan by makeanddocrew with a solid hexagon. After many failed attempts I gave up, only after I made a mistake making another hexagon did I get the eureka moment on how to get the hexagon to form the 'L' required. Here's how I did it.

Thank you for your tutorial. I made one with a gradient yarn (I extended the sleeves) and my sister in law wanted me to give it to her. 😂 I love your Gilmore Girls hook.❤

Written us instructions: Row1: Chain 4. Slip stitch in first chain. Row2: Chain 3, dc, chain 2, *2dc chain 2* times 5 slip stitch in top of chain 3 (should have 6 sets of dc) Row3: standing dc in first stitch(chain 3 if you don’t know how) dc in next stitch, *2dc 2tc 2dc in chain space, dc in each dc* times 5, 2dc 2tc 2dc in last chain space slip stitch in top of standing dc. Repeat row 3 until desired size and follow normal instructions for shoulder seeming and sleeve construction.

Thank you for having your eureka moment😊. I'm still new to making garments and wanted to make a hexi cardigan and didn't want to stumble with remembering decreases. Your version is just what I needed for a starter hexi. Plus the warmer, non-holey sort was what I really wanted. I'm using a Lion Brand yarn called Landscapes Fusion and it needs an easy pattern so I won't have to pull apart my stitches because it will snag. Thanks again for sharing your discovery so we can all keep trying to make garments🎉🤗.

LOVE this look more than the classic granny, but... ...try going into only THE BACK OF EACH stitch (starting with round three but excluding the two big corner stitches) for an awesome look with a pretty border, still solid for warmth! *I tried including the two, big corner stitches, and that looks lovely as well but is a bit more "hole-y."

You can make a hexigon into an L. I made many of these cardigans. You simply have to turn it around until you get the right corner.

How many rounds do you make the hexagon? I think my mom is a s/m. Ive looked at the written tutorial but visual is easier for me so your tutorial was great
@bluerosecrochet
@bluerosecrochet 7 лет назад
Margo Howard it would depend on ur tension, I am making both hexagons to the same round, pinning together with stitch markers and trying it on and adding or removing rounds from there. if u can’t do that, measure ur mums waist and shoulder blades, then make the rounds till it’s an inch or two bigger than ur measurements (both hexagons together)

@@bluerosecrochet for crochet I have two C2C bankets, the solid hexagon cardigan, and I have 14 hanks of baby alpaca yarn that is to pretty to use. I can’t decide what to do with it so I just sit and look at it and/or touch it every couple of days. 🤣 I also have two diamond paintings, drawing supplies and I just started learning how to make glass beads 🥴

Hi looking to make it for a newborn how many rounds roughly please
@bluerosecrochet
@bluerosecrochet 5 лет назад
I dont have a new born anymore so can't give an exact but if u know the chest on an average newborn size, half it and work to that size for each hexagon, it should give u the right size. Havent made one so this is a theory. Always add a little more for babies as they grow quick and come out all sizes 😊 message me on fb if u need any help

I've often found myself coughing in the middle of one of my RU-vid videos, so I can totally empathize with your carrying on despite the illness. When it happens mid-recording, hot tea, cough drops and apologies are about all we can do. (And then a bit of a rest before the next recording session, of course.)
