Got my virtual box installed and working perfectly on an old HP Desktop in Linux mint 19.3 with the latest (6.1) VirtualBox edition, and got the USB working inside it. (From Oracle download, not 5.2 version from Software Manager). And got the Guest Additions and Extension packs going. As noted the final thing to do, which took me a while to figure out was to add my user to the vboxusers group, to get the USB working.
Awesome Joe! Thank you very much appreciated!!! You answered a lot of my questions. Is the other one you mentioned vm ware better? Are they about the same?
+John Mal They're pretty much the same but VMWare tends to be a bit more stable and offers a few features that WirtualBox doesn't. Getting WMware installed on Linux is harder, though. VirtualBox is available in the repositories while VMWare has to be manually installed. :)
+Joe Collins Interesting. I needed something to screen capture in linux and was going to default to Fraps. On Windows I have Camtasia. (Too bad Camtasia is Windows only) So I will look into Simple Screen Recorder too.
I installed virtual box on ubuntu 14.04 and it removed my ubuntu software center and unity desktop. Easy to fix but I still have no idea why it did it.
I couldnt start the Machine it gave me an error saying this: Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: MachineWrap Interface: IMachine {b2547866-a0a1-4391-8b86-6952d82efaa0}
I tried installing ubuntu mate in my virtual machine, but when I get to the part for selecting your language and keyboard, the option for continue is cut off by the window I tried going into fullscreen mode, but I haven't installed the drivers yet. How do you get around this?
So many updates in one day what with it wanting to update my UEFI BIOS and other things and it didn't like the password I know I should have added a password but there was no password in the security part of the UEFI BIOS so it should have taken it straight off no problem it is just weird but I machine is stable which is good.
