dawg i cant even begin to explain how grateful i am. i dont think ppl realize how this one video alone will reshape the game entirely. bouta release my comic in a heartbeat now
Wix's marketing team is on the ball; they know that creators are tired of dancing to Webtoon's tune and are feeling a little burnt about other platforms. I've been running my own webcomic on a personal page since 2013 and there are advantages, but there are also disadvantages. Sooner or later, something will go wrong and you either need to become a techie really quick, or hire someone. But as mentioned, you get to be the captain of your own ship and set your own schedules, look, widgets, etc. that maximize your comic's experience.
Wow! I'm trying to find another option besides Webtoon or Tapas. Though I prefer them because everyone is almost in there, I'd like a full control with my comic. So, I'll save this for future reference. Thanks, Walter!
This was so useful, thank you ♡, ive made one a while ago when making my first unpublished webtoon, but it was kinda difficult for me, it took longer than id like to get stuff set up and i wasnt too happy with it. I love that you made this video and i feel more comfortable to try it again ♡♡♡
Bruh, this is super cool. I like that you can take pages off the subscription plan as new pages come out so there's a reason for people who cannot pay to still come back and keep reading like on webtoon, and those that can afford to pay can still contribute.
Thank you so much for sharing this, it's super useful and simple! I'm wondering though, what if you wanted to monetize the website with Ads instead using Google Adsense, do you have an idea whether it's doable? And how easy/hard it would be to implement? Running a subscription model is an amazing way to earn. But in reality, most people would want to read for free, and would rather wait than pay that $1/month. Thus, that would make the website more of a liability than an asset. I believe running ads can bring good compensation to us creators for the views we'd receive.
This video is extremely helpful. I tried this out and successfully made a test website. I learned a lot. But I realized that the quality of my images/pages are good on the laptop, but when I read it on my phone. It's very compressed. It very visibly ruins the quality and reading experience. Is this fixable? If yes, how ? Did anyone else also have this problem? Note: I am using the free version. So maybe that's just the issue.
@sonsonny6589 Sorry, I don't speak English. Talvez debas ver el tamaño de tus páginas de cómic, al ser demasiados grandes para los píxeles de un celular no se verá bien. Al crear tu página de cómic en tu computadora, comprueba desde tu celular si es legible. Espero haberte ayudado 😊
@@MariMarisol298 Translation: "You should really take a closer look to the size of your comic pages, because they can be too big in pixels for a cellphone screen, so i really recommend that, when you do your comic pages, you check with your phone if the size is the correct one for a good mobile reading as well, checking if it readable or not. I hope it was usefull 😊" (I'm a spanish speaker as well, so, te lo traduje x ti mi pana, de nada.)
What an amazing video Walter. Incredibly helpful bro. Alway planned on make my own website for my series manly to have full artistic freedom of the website. This tutorial was such a huge help.👍😁
I can’t believe it! First I found your awesome comic Metalshark Bro, and now you are the first person I see when I want to find out how to post my own webcomic. Thank you twice-over!
Thank you! This is really helpful, I've been struggling how to publish my manga online while keeping the Japanese comic format. I really appreciate this advice!
There is no panorama option just heading 2-6 and paragraph. Its probably the reason why there is still spacing between the pages even though I set it to zero :( Still thanks for the tutorial. I clicked your referral link as my thanks to you! Edit: nvm I figured it out! I just have to put them in one folder like you did! I didn't put them on one because it was just a test website so my bad. Thank you again! We miss your uploads I hope you're doing well
I am a web developer and found this very useful, thanks. All the necessary functionality is already there, don't see a reason for me to create it from scratch.
wow!!... there re no words to describe how incredible u re for making this video walter, thanks a lot, u just provided me with the basics I need to set up, much love❤❤
Man thank you I've been looking for something like this! I'm really struggling though with making it standard format-- I love to have one page presented at a time and people can press "previous" and "next" buttons etc. I have a really good starting point though thanks to you!
Bruhh i literally was wanting to create a site for my comic but didn't knew how... ISTG WALTER BE SNEAKIN AND READIN MINDS!! Tysmm! Btw can you do this with a phone too?
I believe you'd be able to do this by creating "subdomains" for your main domain website. I haven't tested it out, but that would allow you to create a blog for each subdomain in theory.
@@walterostlie just use categories for each comic series u create> each category will have it's own episodes/issues/chapters for each individual comic. >just can't change header image for each page
HOLY FLIP THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR SINCE FOREVER! THANK YOU, THANK YOU! This is such a helpful video! Love your voice, love the info, love the vibe! Bless your soul, Walter! 🫶
How can I put several series? The truth is that I want to make a website for many webcomics but it makes me uncomfortable having to put chapter 1 of series 1 or something like that, if someone knows how I could put a series and inside the chapters please tell me
This was a very informative video. I have an idea for a story that I think could make a good comic series. The problem is while I can write the story, I can't draw it. I'm not an artist. Do you have any advice for that?
Thank you for the info :) Question: if you wanted to include audio FX and perhaps a sprinkle of animation in your comic, what would be the best programs to use? I’ve tried looking into interactive comics for iPad for example but find very little on You Tube.
Its tedious. An hour? Try an entire afternoon. Don’t even think of doing it on an iPad or phone. Everything looks different than it does in this video and you will spend a lot of time backing up and going forward. And for god sake, daont make a mistake. Good luck
Very good tutorial Walter I thank you, I have been looking for different platforms to publish my Comics and I think that first before publishing in Webtoon, Tapas, Global Comix, Comixology or in Faneo I think it is better to create my own Custom Website as you explain well here in your video to make my work known and then I publish it on those other Platforms so that many more people can see it.....thank you very much Brother!!!
I'm going to do this because I uploaded a Dark Fantasy to webtoon, and they removed it because it was "too violent." Their reasoning was "gratuitous violence." I was pissed off and I'm not going to let webtoon make me forcibly censor my story and my vision. The violence is to set the tone of the story. It's a messed up world.
Hi Walter, Thank you for all these helpful videos. I wanted to ask you how you have to do to be able to translate your comic. I noticed that when we change the language in the webtoon application, we can see a translated comic for example. Do we have to create a second comic in English to be able to do this? For example, I have a comic in French, I would also like to offer it in English. How should I do it ? Thank you for your time if possible and I wish you a great day.
If you want your comic to be available in other languages in the webtoon application, you will have to translate them yourself, change the language of the page and re-upload the episode in the desired language. @@fulanadetal6099
Does anyone know how to access the layout tab on Wix? When I click on the settings cog, it just gives me 'media' settings and not 'layout', and I can't find it anywhere else. Great video, by the way, Walter, thank you!
Thanks for this. Very helpful! Thing is...I've orevthan one volume of a trad comic how do I make the homepage link to different volumes and their chapters?
I have no idea about setting up a reading site but recently had a thought about wanting to maybe make one cause I was tired of these manhua, manwha, and manga sites and mostly apps messing up so bad like pages being missing, mixed up or even something like chapter 35 just being a reposted chapter 34 not to mention translation its just gets really annoying like I know I'm reading the stuff for free but if someone was gonna do stuff like this at least do it right but right now I'm only thinking about it maybe eventually I'll be enraged enough to just do it lol
Great video naturally, but what I am looking for is to create a web page to publish kind of old fashion comic strips, where a single plate (made of several panels like an album page) would take the hole screen. With bogger, Wordpress or Wix, it is like the content is always reduce to a smal strip in the middle. How to overcome that, and have the whole artwork takes the whole width on screen?
I'm not sure If it is mentioned in here but can you be able to add music to the comic just like those that are featured on webtoon? My comic is about music so it would definitely be useful for me to have access to that feature
What if I want people to be able to click on an image, then go to the next image with a click of a button instead of scrolling down? Like all the comic book apps let you do
