I just discovered your videos not too long ago and have been binge watching them every day while working on my comic. They've been a HUGE help! It looks like you haven't posted in months though - I hope you're ok!
@@baggybones His twitter is full of the stuff for the past like 10 months, its some nft game that never got any traction and they're still pumping out new ones. Its super depressing ngl I really liked this channel
@@N1ck00 that's quite sad 😢,I was really expecting him to return someday, but I guess not......maybe you know of another channel of the same type of content? 🤔
I thought I already had a nice way of doing lettering but I picked up a few things from this that I never would have even thought of. Once again, really great vid, thanks a lot!
I swear to god I was searching this on RU-vid yesterday and didn't got any useful stuff and here you are with a new video about it,are you a hacker or something lol?
Yeah I've had this experience as well. Like, hours after I was looking for tips or just talking about something I struggle at, BOOM, Walter is here! You get used to it after the third time it happens.
this was exactly what I needed! you taught me everything I needed to learn and then some! thx for the quick overview of how the mask works. u are my webcomic hero
To be honest I LOVE drawing my soundeffects...and even here does my beloved Clip studio Paint a wonderful job. I just say perfect lines;) keep in mind that soundeffects are different in other languages...so remember to leave the special layer in the original file- just in case ;) its pretty helpful even when you don`t plan a translation right now.
Hand drawn SFX are great, I'll toss them in occasionally when I'm feeling inspired. Great note about translations. I wonder how that's worked out with some comics I've read where the sfx is fully integrated into the art...
I would assume in this case its a lot work;) I just checked, but webtoon seems to do a real good job there, since a lot of comics are Korean (d`uh) and I have read that they hire for translations people who are fluid in onomatopoeia. Here its very importent. When you translate just from english to german (and back) it is much easier because we are get used to the the english expression or it is very similar (in case of Booom f.e.
Can I ask you how I learn what and when I add SFX on my webtoon story? I know just little bit about SFX 🙏 🙏 ex give me link or way to learn about it and what & when I should be using it .. I'll be thankful 🙏
How to do Effects like sparkle, sky, shine, etc on Krita or photoshop. Have been reading a webtoon called Omnisicient Reader, and was highly impressed by it's effects, I dont think i will be able to do such great effects but at least i wanna start
really missed ur videos so i came back to see what ur up to...disappointed to see on ur twitter that ur just shitting out garbage nfts now :/ wish u the best but really sad u stopped making such great webtoons content
I’d also recommend making the sound effect an image material that way you don’t have to keep opening your sound affect library file, you can just import the material straight into your canvas
@@walterostlie I think it would still be a full clip file or more of an object, but I'm not sure, I don't edit then often but I highly recommend looking them up
Missing your posts Walter - btw, I need someone expert on webtoons and fully bilingual to translate my webtoon from English to Spanish, any advice? Thank you for your time!
Thank you for this tutorial this helped me so much on making effects on my comics, Can you make more for some other effects like WHOOSH or something different I wanted to know which font you're using
OH MY GOD! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I have been struggling with my sound effects for a little while now. It wasn't even that long ago that I was trying to find that option you explained for adding an outline to your sound effect. I was like 'I know that is an option! I have seen other people do it!' I was mostly hand-drawing my sound effects before but this will help make them look a bit more polished and will really help me up my sound effect game. :D (my comic is called ilworld and is on Webtoon by the way)
The easiest and most efficient way to incorporate the sound effects is to move your FX folder below the explosion layer, and you get the exact same result, without having to take all these extra steps that slow down your production time. I've been doing this for years now, and it's been a lifesaver.
Damn Thank you so much man! kinda having problem adding stroke outerline on letter on CSP, I just start using CSP few days ago after 12 years of using PS, I can say that for Drawing CSP is much-much better, once again thanks! you're really a god send for new web-comic artist, keep doing what you are doing!
OMG is Ostlie and not Ostile (or hostille as i ve been saying this all time!!! O_O) BTW i was missing you posting videos, so thought it could be because you are out of ideas, cause kind you covered everything about doing a comic, (idk, maybe not) but could be cool just post speed art, doing a page, random, no talking if you dont want to, but, yeah, just an idea. love your work, keep it up!!!
Curious also. He seems the most active on Facebook. I miss his art and Webtoon-centric RU-vid. I wish he'd post some more tutorials or critiques. Maybe he has other life-stuff going on. Cheers.
Pretty helpful. Should have include how to make sound effect Brush as well. It would come handy for Webtoon comic (at least) Like haha, fluster, crack, etc..
Your video are so helpful thank u for ur shared information can't wait to put more of these to use in my comic it's really helping my not over think 🤔 and it's been so less stressful 😅 thank so much for ur videos
Yeah, I actually have files for poses and expressions for main characters. I've also reused panels of a spaceship cockpit I drew once. I just draw characters over the top of it in new poses that make sense for the scene. Sometimes I have to redraw a chair if the character has turned it, but still a huge time save.
Hello Walter.......i have something to ask.....I read so many comics who have more than 100 panels but the limit to put is only 100 files ....i wonder how it fits ....please do a tutorial on how to upload a long episode on webtoon for call to action
THANK YOU. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT CLIP STUDIO MASKS FOR EVER!! They only mask with erasing/deleting? Its no wonder I couldn't figure out why filling with black wasn't masking anything...
Hey! I wanted to ask, do you have any tips for the new upcoming event for webtoon? (The actions scene event) like, should we make a scene of a story we want to expand on more, or should we just make a one time thing/scene story wise and characters wise. Help would be appreciated, thank you!
Walter unfortunately left the comics community and his youtube channel last year to pursue making NFT work - you can see over on his twitter the work he's making now. He has lots of action tip videos on his channel still that are useful for the challenge though if you look through his archive.
Hey bro I know it's been years but do you think you'll ever consider creating season 2 of Haxor and possibly make it a prequel as well as a sequel to season 1?
God this is such a nightmare. I work traditional and I'm not good with computers, I think I might just have to draw the effects by hand even if they don't look as clean
Can I ask you how I learn what and when I add SFX on my webtoon story? I know just little bit about SFX 🙏 🙏 ex give me link or way to learn about it and what & when I should be using it .. I'll be thankful 🙏Mr Walter 🥺🌹
Hey how do you come up with Onamonapias? For my comic I was trying to show one for this door but I couldn't think of a way to spell it. I have trouble with like ambient talking (like inside a café or a crowded diner). I try to listen for the sound, if I can hear it sometimes listening helps me. Things like "crunch crunch" for walking on dry leaves. Or "whoooboosh!!!" for a huge explosive sound.
If I'm having a really hard time with sound effects, I'll just do something obvious like for a door; slam, creak, groan, knock. Or for a crowd: chatter, mumble. Usually I wouldn't bother with crowd noise unless it was very important like cheering or jeering. You don't want to overdue sound effects and have it for every little thing, it will lose it's impact.
@@walterostlie Thanks, I use some of my sound effects to lead characters to a conflict or a new scene. It's one way I try to use my comics sounds, other then for huge impacts like with explosions which feel awesome to include.
Hey Walter.....been reading your comic haxor on webtoons and I had a couple of questions, Like what pen do you use to ink Haxor to archive that "rough" edgier look...
Hey ! There is this thing I often see in Comics similair to sound affects but for reactions And im DYING to get some more information and tips on them but I dont know what theyre called and I cant find anything. To describe what I mean: The things like the Angry pop up vein, A questionmark or exclaimation mark drawn next to/above someones head, 3 dots next to the head to show a pause or give a "Birds chirping" effect If anyone could help me out itd be greatly appreciated
Could you do a video on how to design a ship please? From the purpose of it, the sketch idea to putting it all together including the outside details. 😊
I wanted to ask something, if our webtoon is well made ( in originals way ), and gets featured in original series, then do we have to make all episodes or we can re upload ?
@@catnamedfeneuch7860 sir, did you even have a single look at his Twitter account? it's nothing but NFT. He's literally doing art for NFT and even ended his comic abruptly for, again, NFT.
have you put anything on indiegogo or kickstarter, id say out of your 20,000 subscribers maybe 1000 to 2000 would have the monies to give back to you for your amazing videos
You got the classics that will always work (boom, bang, klik, blam, pow, ka-boom, slam). You can google comic sfx and you'll see a bunch. But a lot of the time I just make up noise by sounding them outload. Then I just type something close. A lot of the time the actual letters don't matter and it's more the vibe behind how you style the sound effect on the page that will bring the noise you want the reader to feel.
