I installed a new hard drive since the old one crashed. I followed all the instructions up until the time Windows 10 was supposed to install, then a box came up showing the hard drive with two partitions. One was 50MB for the System and the other was 931GB. I chose the larger partition and the result was a message saying "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI Systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks". The new drive is nearly identical to the old one. UPDATE: I did find a video that described converting the hard drive to the GPT format if the above-mentioned error was received and it WORKS! I would suggest making your own video of it. It's easy to convert.

I was having problems with my Lenovo and making this USB drive helped me fix the issues as I tried to fix it but with no luck so I done a USB installation stick and just started over and now running like a dream. Ok, I have a question. My laptop already has windows 10, but once I replace HD or SSD, why can’t I make a copy of my already installed windows 10, instead of buying a new copy. I don’t see how it’s fair that I have to re buy windows just to replace a HD

When i try to install both 32 and 64 bit windows 10, the download stops at the end and telss me that there is some problem. If i download only 64 bit version it works perfectly fine. What should i do?

From this old boy from down under ; Thank-you believe me you was a very big help; I replaced my hard drive on my HP Desktop and lost my thumb USB with everything on it so sad but all good in the end ; Went out and purchased a Seagate 1tb expansion portable drive for around $59.oo Australian ; I had to reinstall the old hard drive to do the downloaded of a new windows 10 on to the portable but thank the gods it was still working lucky; replaced the old hard drive in with the new one and in with a new copy of windows 10 and now doing all updates I cant thank you enough A++++
That happened to me now my device cant support windows 11 and my pc thinks he can handle it so every now and than he starts to download it but fails this time happened a power outage and the pc shut down so the windows 11 and Windows 10 mixmatched and couldnt go any further than inaccesible boot drive
Once you're sure you've finished with the USB, you can format it and then it's ready for normal use. To do this: Open File Explorer on your computer. Click This PC on the left. Now plug in your usb drive. You will see the USB drive appear in File Explorer. Right-click on the USB drive. Click Format. Give it a name here, like USB Drive. Click Format.
I did like this since if someone who wants to upgrade to windows 11 in the future is best to have that free upgrade. That the option i am going for when i do get all my new PC parts up.

No shame, much of the purpose of computer education is learning how to troubleshoot and learning the technical terms. The procedures and what-not you can always google. You learn what you can't easily google.
Thanks for the like! You’ll probably only need 64 bit, to be honest. However I’ve always changed it to ‘both’ because every now and then I’ll find myself helping someone with an older 32 bit computer and I find it handy to have both versions in one tool.
I have two questions for you Dave. Why do you recommend to choose both bits? Will it make a difference? Also, would you need to eject the USB before you disengage it from the computer? Very helpful, thank you.
I do both but types just in case you need to use the stick on another type of computer, although you probably won’t ever need 32 bit. If there’s an option to eject the drive then you should use it. I can’t remember if the option is there after you run this tool.
Hey Dave great videos and right on topic for what I am attempting. I was OK at keeping data backups but use of OneDrive and file history should really help. I also am a bit confused. If I do a full System Image backup do I need the Installation USB you just demonstrated in this video? Can't I just do a Restore? Also since I am a licensed W10 user, I am not sure why I would need a new license to restore my Windows 10 - you mentioned the need. Where can I find this license number? My copy was downloaded onto my HP PC which was pre-loaded with Windows 8 at the time. W10 was later downloaded. Keep up the good work and Thanks Bruce
Hi Dave, I have cleaned everything off the hard drive as per your video and I have installed Windows onto a USB stick. I am going to put windows 10 on the laptop with the clean hard drive. Do I have to leave the memory stick in throughout the whole setup or is there a specific time when to take it out because in some videos if you leave the usb stick in, it goes back to the beginning of the setup.
