Hi, just a little tips, you can put differents things in the presentation and when you press the button to go to your presentation you can make some change and you dont change your edit mode. So you can simplify your presentation mode and have no interweave things in your editing mode
Thank you times a million for this! You explained everything perfectly. Making something for a final in my masters program and I couldn’t have done it without you!! Thanks again!
Thank you for this tutorial. It has been a great help for me creating my own audio reactive visual. I was wondering, is there any way to set exactly what frequencies make up the low, mid and high cutoffs? And is there also a way for each frequency set to affect the shape on only one axis (X, Y or Z axis)?
Hi. Jonathan, when you say "why when I put enable $1 and enter it turns orange " in which object are you typing this and what exacly is turning orange?
Hey cool instruction. I too will want to know how to export the live video coming out of Max to say a .mov file. My initial though, a hack is to do a screen recording using QuickTime player on the iMacs. Guessing there must be a Max object to record to file. So looking at the Max manuals, the jit.record command is needed, but for my example the jit.maxtrix is used for the rendered graphics and the type is float32, but jit.record only accepts char type -- so it does not work. So it's back to plan B, screen recording in QuickTime.
Hi thanks for the lesson, but when i get to the point that the videos from the playlist have to be into my shape it doesnt work , what could be? Can you help me please ?
Dear Sabrina. Thanks a lot for the video which is great. I am not so much into programming but rather interested in using your patch. Why don't you share it with the world for download. It's hard recreating it and time wasting. Also too many possibilities of making mistakes and not getting same result. Thanks in advance for sharing :-) . Regards from snowy Switzerland, Tim
just tried it and it works nicely! i am new to jitter and very excited about this . how can i export a track with its video rendering in the best way ? thanks a lot ! best david
Hi David! There's an object called jit.record, you would need to learn how to use it, but personally what I do is to record my screen output using a software to record video games. I use GeForce experience or bandicam , both in Windows, I did not find anything as good as this for MacOS. Cheers! If you want learn more about Jitter I have a Jitter course for beginners, take a look! :) www.sabinacovarrubias.com/jitter.html
@@SabinaCovarrubiasComposer hey great your course looks really interesting. I go to valencia to play and make a workshop on jitter with tatsuru arai from berlin you might know him. I use a virtual modular synth that runs with max 6 runtime from klingt.org for live sound improvisation. Since it is not well implemented for jitter , i would like to manage to output inside ableton then use jitter in mfl and all the possibilities in live , but i didnt find a way yet. maybe you can help me , it would be great because this patch does thing live doesnt do soundwise and vice versa and i would go for a nice audio visual performance ! im pretty amazed at how good max works in mfl for patching , it was my first time . i just have two questions: how do you get the repeat loop icon in jit.playlist i couldnt find it , and your patch opens with some max console issues about 64 it not supporting smthg.. And so as for your answer you cannot just press record in the main ableton live toolbar and have the visual recorded then render all the audio and video, and have a video clip ready for example, not that easy right ? all the best
oh i thought max for L. is a part of STANDARD live, i wanted to move from Logic only because of max, but almost 500 , hm, donno. thanks sabina, great job:-)
Thanks for the great video with good explanations !!!! Right at the end when I open it in Ableton, the screen stays black. I tried a second time but still have the same problem .. Do you have any idea why?
hi sabina thanks for your tutorial its been great but for one thing I can't change the size of the shape it keeps going back what it was before I have tried to get it down to 0.25 but it won't let me do it
at 8:59 I can't change the parameters of X Y X, whatever I do they remain on 1. I tried right click, left click on the mouse, everything, but all I can do is o drag the whole scale window all over the place
Jesus, I got it. How stupid it was I hadn't thought of holding ctrl button… Anyways I won't delete my previous comment, so the video will hopefully reach more people :)
Hi, please check if this is ok : 1) the patch must be closed, 2) click at the right of the number 1. ( not above) and then move your mouse up, or down ( don't release the button of your mouse). If anything change yet, disconnect and re-connect the object, or turn the software off and on again (some times it bugs!).
@@SabinaCovarrubiasComposer the reason for this was that I didn't hold the ctrl button while trying to adjust these parameters … On top of that, I stumbled on another problem - I cannot play the video files in 15:10 - I don't see these clips' previews (there are blank spots) and when I click on 'play' buttons nothing happens. I opened these clips using media player to ensure they're not broken and there are fine. And I also downloaded multiple codecs in case that was the reason, but it wasnt't and didn't help. I have 64bit windows and as I already read on forums, it doesn't seem to work properly with max for live. Btw thanks for your reply and a great tutorial!
@@naturalbornhuman3450I can not tell you what is going on, since I can not see your patch; I recommend to study Jitter, so you can solve all those issues, a basic knowledge of Jitter will allow you to figure out what is going out.
Hi Sabina, thanks for sharing this, amazing content! I´m having a big struggle to export this kind of reactive video to Syphon. So then I can open it with Resolume. I´ve been trying fow weeks but I can´t get any results. I only see a white square in my signal. Could you please help me with that? Thanks a lot!
Just send it a number 1 to enable it or zero to disable it . You can send 1, or 0, by connecting the TOGGLE object ( the button with a cross that I am using there, just like I show in the video ) when you press this button it sends a 1 or a 0. ( you can's see it but , internally, it's what it does, like behind the scenes....
Hi! i just figured it out. The problem it´s this: you have to create a Message (m) not and Objet (n). Once you create a new message, just type the "enable $1" atribute and it will work. Hope it helps!
I recreated the patch...for the lazy ones: contact me on my RU-vid channel and I send you the Live-patch.....however: if you do it manually the learning curve is guaranteed
any idea why playback through the effect would be latent and kind of glitchy? it doesnt seem like its sending and reacting to the audio as fluidly as in your example.
hi! perhaps your it is your GPU, ( Graphics processor unit) when a GPU is not powerful enough you can have these kind of problems. In MacOS you'll need a model with a Raedon or NVIDIA GPU.
@@SabinaCovarrubiasComposer I use an nvidia quadro p2000. seems like it would have enough to power something ilike this.maybe Im not using it correctly or need to set it up with my monitor?
