Irony: Jesse's demonstrating a technique potentially to minimize cutting yourself, all the while wearing a band-aid. I empathize with you brother. The hazards of the trade. Love this technique though! I just received my Artist shears & my 1st day back to work is tomorrow. Can't wait to try them out...with a good supply of band-aids, just in case!
I am pretty sure that the shears are parallel with the hair section for maximum softness. I think if the shears were at an angle, then it wouldn't have as looser texture, but more of a choppy, punky looking texture. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I assume that's what he means when he says 'scans' across.
Thomas has a good point... this is the decision that you can make based on the desired texture. The more parallel the shear is to the hair, the softer the texture will be... the more diagonal you approach the hair, the more defined the texture will appear. Neither is good or bad... just what do you want your desired result to be.
Jessi you are so good!!!! I do love this but if a person didn’t want to see what then looks like shorter layers through the surface layer, would this be beneficial to use in the internal sections of the hair? Would it still make an impact that’s desirable? Thanks for your info, Shawna.
Sam I have course, fine hair. I also have an oval face. C2 curl. I like to have emphasis on my eyes. I live in Florida so I use Potion 9. What would you recommend ? What is a .good style for me!? Would this cutting technique work as well . Sorry, another question . May I mix two hair dyes from the same company? Thank you very much Sam! You have helped me save a lot of money! I LOVE cutting my own hair!
