A few weeks ago I published a video on soloing with triad pairs...
...and several commenters told me that, when they tried that idea, they got only "conventional sounds".
Instead they want sounds that are new and exciting. They want more 'spice'!
My people! I see your comments! I acknowledge your lamentations!
And I raise you a new video. You want spice?
I got spice!
In this video I'm showing you how to create sounds that range from mundane to exotic using only two triads.
And when you watch it, you are going to get (at least) two different uses out of it:
1. You can play the triads as "chords" to create spicy chord progressions, and
2. You can use the triads as "triad pairs" to write a spicy solo.
(If you are a songwriter, this is going to be gold for you)
Watch this video because "the spice must flow" ;-)

In the 1984 version of Dune, the instrument that Patrick Stewart (the bald guy) is playing is a real instrument; it's a Chapman Stick.

This reminds me of a method I came up with some time ago. It started when I realized that major pentatonic scale can be "arpeggiated" as a major 6/9 chord. Then I realized that the minor pentatonic scale can be arpeggiated as a min7th add 11th chord. That's how I came with a method to create new pentatonic scales: Just take a sixth or seventh chord and add an extension of your choice (9th, 11th or 13th)

Unquestionably one of the best ways to learn the mechanics of triads is to learn how to play walking bass. You spend a TON of time learning how to piece together, in real time, lines from patterns like arpeggios, fragments of scales like 1-2-3-5, bigger patterns like root-octave-b7 or 6-1-2-3, or "ladders" like root-octave, 2-9, b3-b10, 10-3 to land on the 4. You also have to work on getting the right notes to appear on strong beats and work towards target notes. The time and emphasis is different, of course, so you can't just walk and make a solo sound good, but it's just super helpful to learn how to stitch lines together that outline the harmony.

The mixolydian mode?
@Vasioth
@Vasioth 3 года назад
@@MusicTheoryForGuitar No, the C diminished scale uses Gb, not F# for the diminished scale, for Gb is the 5th degree of the C diminished scale while F is the 4th degree. They may be enharmonically equivalent, but there's a reason for discriminating between the two in terms of harmonic function.
@Vasioth
@Vasioth 3 года назад
@@silovitipanj4958 If you were making C the tonic, then no because the 7th degree is flattened in mixolydian mode. It would be Lydian mode since it follows the W-W-W-H-W-W-H pattern.
