This was really relaxing to watch! I knew how to do this in Photoshop, but seeing how easy it is in real life is really cool! I really like the half drop method, it looks a lot more natural. This was a really useful video. I definitely want to try this!

This is basically the physical version of how this works in Photoshop. I don't know why I didn't realize that before this video. Like it didn't hit me that you can literally cut and place paper the same way Offset works. haha

GENIUS! I've had a subscription from skillshare before, but for my personal life I noticed I didn't use it. So when 3 months cheaper period was up, I already no longer used it and has forgotten about it. Until I saw a credit card payment to them. I contacted them and explained my situation. While I expected a humongous hassle, they quickly responded and reimbursed me completely. Even though it was my own fault.

yay show us what you learned on skillshare thereby making the Skillshare class irrelevant. That's exactly what you want to do, remove the barrier of entry between that knowledge and those of us unwilling to pay for it, (even though you did pay for it and should be keeping this knowledge to yourself to make more money off of it, but, you won't. You'd rather make videos and you're starved for ideas at this point late in your career, surely. You have to do to keep getting ad revenue. Why does skillshare even exist anymore?). BY THE WAY SKILLSHARE IS AN UNRELIABLE SERVICE just google skillshare reviews, it says it all.

Nice! I've been designing my own set of playing cards using watercolours, and I think this would be cool to design a pattern for the back of the cards. I'm sure it could be applied to smaller objects too. I like the idea of them forming a seamless pattern when laid face down! Thanks for the video, Baylee!

Just a pointer to anyone trying this. When I tried this, I didn't know that the un cut version of your drawing couldn't go of the page. I spent hours redoing and re configuring my drawings before I had figured this out. I wish you had said that in the video, because I wouldn't have wasted so much time doing this.

What would you recommend tool wise for the scanning step? I usually will use my desk scanner, open the image in adobe illustrator and use the live trace tool so I can create a clean image, but sometimes a lot of detail can get lost or warped. Any suggestions would help! Thank you!

I used this technique once to make a pattern, but my paper was way thick and it didn't scan well, I had to spend ages in Gimp erasing the very visible lines where the separate pieces of paper met. It turned out pretty cool in the end, though!
