I saw a question asking about creating this parallax credit roll with photos and videos inspired by the end credits in the movie "Instant Family".
Here is a simple method using Fusion inside DaVinci Resolve.
If you have any suggestions for future tutorials, write them in the comments below.
Thanks for watching!

Keep em coming, great you explain the keyboard shortcuts and you show the issues, e.g camera being on top of images and moving away Just subscribed.

I didn't think about doing this in 3D space! I tried something similar in 2D and wasn't exactly thrilled with the outcome, this should be much smoother

Can you do a tutorial with videos and the credits rolling please. Videos on the left. Credits in the right.

Hi, can you help me understand how that would be different from what I've already done here? You could of course position the media and text on whichever side you want.

Hi, @Matt McCool thanks for the cool stuff. Shadows are not working. after enabling
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 Год назад
Hey, K. This could be caused by a few different things, it's kinda hard to pinpoint. Make sure the image planes have all 3 checkboxes under the lighting tab enabled (affected by lights, shadow caster/receiver). At this point you should see shadows in the 3D viewer as long as it's set to display shadows (the little ball dropdown menu at the top of the viewer). If you don't, you may need to adjust the position and angle of your spotlight. Hope that helps!

Wonderful tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing this kind of effect and explaining each step clearly. I experimented with a around 5 clips to achieve this effect, but for some reason, playback was pretty laggy in the edit page. Was wondering if you experienced something like this. Would you have any suggestions on how I could possibly make the fusion clip run a bit smoother? Thank again!

Try turning on smart cache. It's under the playback menu.

Wooow. The way and ease you have explained it. I just checked your channel and I am so sad to see that you have abbandoned it. I know you are busy and creating great stuff at MotionVFX, but ...but. I mean almost 1000 subs with just two videos. !!!! I hope you will decide to post here more often. I do have a question. I hope you will find the time to aswer it or point me in the right direction. After I make this project, can I save it to re-use it in other projects by changing the photos or videos? Thank you.
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 7 месяцев назад
Thanks! I do have some plans for this channel. Yes, look into creating macros for the edit page. You can save macros with multiple media ins, then to use it in other projects, stack the same number of images or videos, select all, create a fusion clip, and drag on your saved macro.

@@MattMcCool0 thank you for your reply. Following your explication was eaay. I have searched about Macros, but the three i watched were no very cleae. Besides being able to reuse the fuaion comp, i am also trying to add framea or seconds. I will keep searching, but if you have a recommendarion... A chanel or something, that would be great. I know you are busy, and I do appreciate your time. Gracias

@@CatitoArce I have an idea for a template that works completely differently from this method but accommodates any number of images and duration. I'll make a video about it soon. Stay tuned!

Hello! I am struggling how to adjust the speed of the images and the text, how did you make it slower? I tried to save what I did after following your tutorial, but it was unexpectedly fast.
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 Год назад
Hi, you might just need to stretch the keyframes of the camera's position further apart.

@@MattMcCool0 I figured before going back to my comment to say it lol thank you so much for your big help! I learned a lot from your tutorial :)) Also, I am just curious: how did you add the background of your finished product, as seen in the first part of your video?
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 Год назад
@@kandreite I just attached a texture to a really big image plane positioned behind the photos. You could also add a background under the fusion comp on the edit page.

Hi man, Thank this is super cool? is there a way to change the duration while I'm working on it? if I wanto to add more photo and need more time? how should I do it? Thanks
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 Год назад
Get back to the edit page and right click the Fusion clip and choose "open in timeline". From here you can stack more photos and extend their duration. Then just double click your main timeline in the bottom left corner and head back into Fusion. Inside Fusion, you can add more media in nodes and select each photo using the layer dropdown in the inspector. You can also simply drag in more photos straight into Fusion from the media pool, but I think this way is easier since you have to lengthen the comp anyway. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Hey thanks for thi video, is there a way to do this with a like 200 photos? With more than 5 photos/videos, you cant put them on individual tracks and make a fusion clip!
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 Год назад
You could bring them directly into Fusion from the Media pool. No limit doing it that way. But you'd have to either manually reposition all 200 photos or I guess you could group them and translate using separate merge3D's. But I think the easiest way would probably be to use a particle emitter. Just save the photos you want to use as an image sequence and connect it to a particle emitter using the Bitmap style. Set the Animate to "Particle Birth Time" so it creates random images within the sequence. I would set the region to Cube so you have control over the width, height, and depth of where the images exist. And you'll need a high lifespan for the particles. Play around with the reseed, size variance, and cube dimension to dial in the effect. And I believe if you set the number to 1 then it won't repeat any photos. You won't have as much control as you would if you manually placed each photo in 3D space, but it's definitely faster and uses less nodes.

Nice tutorial! I tried to rebuild it (witch 8 fotos) and - after long time of rendering - it worked but i have some kind of annoying flicker effect on the the white boarder (between black background and image) and on the shadows (overlaping to the underlying image). If you have any ideas how to solve that issue or if could tell me what i did wrong, i would be very happy. THX ;)
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 2 года назад
Usually, flickering is caused by some kind of caching error. Try and right click the very bottom right on the fusion page and choose "purge cache", also under playback>delete render cache>All. Then let it re-cache without touching anything. If it's still flickering, you might have multiple 3D objects in the same location in space.
