Create Film Rolling Credits in Davinci Resolve

In this Davinci resolve tutorial, I'll share with you how to create movie end credits. We'll see together how to set up your composition, how to create a text layout, and add bts photos and videos to your credits.
I've provided timestamps so you can easily jump between sections:

wow best detailed explanation I have seen, awesome work. I have seen others use tab spacing and reference spacing and have me lost on how to speed up or slow down the text. now this makes a lot more sense in the break down of breaking it down and doing everything in sections and I will be trying this on my next video. ;) thank you

Using tab spacing is great alternative as well, the only issue that comes with it is that you can't make different adjustment to the font type, size, colors, etc.. between the role and name. And personally I rather having one bolder than the other to make it easier to read and more interesting visually. Anyway, glad it was helpful!

@@l0rdcroissant Most likely because your text is out of frame, use the on screen control to check if you have the red arrow to move the text around

I will try this. I have tried several supposedly 'smooth' scrolling methods and it still comes out jittery. Hopefully this will be better...

Thanks for the video. Only thing is that on 1:34 When I tried linking the Merge2 arrow to Background 2, I didn't get a Merge2_1, it just connects to Background 2 and that's it. What do I do there?

Great explanation! What can you do if the maximum height of the text BG is too small for a longer credit roll?

The maximum height is capped at "32767" which should be plenty for a small production. But if for whatever reason you need more, you can right click on your background select "edit control" select the "height" and change the maximum value to whatever you want. This will remove the cap and you'll be able to raise the value

hey! I'm watching the video right now and have been following along and enjoying it but now I am running into the issue of when i move the transform node to move a full selection, it moves in freeform. Can anybdy tell me how to lock the transform to be guided or move how its staying in some uniformity in the video. Thank you!

I figured it out. I notice closer that he is selecting the up arrow tip and that keeps it locked in its centered position while being able to move up or down.

Dang I did something wrong so now my fusion clip isnt playing when I playback my timeline on the edit tab. Anyone know what could be wrong? i followed all the steps

Hi! When I export the video the text scroll is not completely smooth and fluid I think that it's something about export settings, but I can't figure out what it is. Do you have any idea of what it could be? Thank you for the amazing video!

P.S.- It's a problem that I have even with the pre-set text scroll in DaVinci, so it's not a problem of the work on fusion

The cause could be pretty wide. But I would first look into the frame rates, somehow not having the same frame rate between the project, timeline and export could cause problem. But I would have a hard time giving you any indication just like that, I would need to troubleshoot playing around with the software

hey, I bought some of your templates can you make a template for rolling credits with the flexibility to use columns and the ability to use different fonts for different columns. as you know in rolling credits in resolve you can't change individual fonts in rolling credits when you change the header fonts you change all so pls create a template that has these functions. thanks

No need to make it that complicated if you have a png image. You can simply do it from the edit page by keyframing the vertical position to make it scroll

First issue is when creating a merge after adding the fist text, it shows up as Merge1 not 2. It didn't work for me :(

1:57 How do you select both Transform1 and MediaOut1 together like this? I'm struggling to figure out how to do it. I can select one or the other, but not the two together.

@@EmmaCRETOT I think so. There seems to be two places under the boxes. You have to click in different places to select the one you want. There are only two slots by the looks of it. It's not very clear or obvious to the novice eye. This screenshot shows what I mean: i.imgur.com/2aLABnT.jpeg

non text Media / photos just doesn't appear in fusion when you do this - no idea why. have followed this exactly and just getting a blank where an image should appear. Any ideas?

Hard to tell without visual, probably due to a wrong input somehow the image being set as background instead of background. Make sure that your "arrow" connections are the same that's all I can think off

I think i solved it (you probably did months ago but i ll still put it in here) Apparently The Merge Notes need to be in the correct order. Merge1 before Merge2. Thats what did it for me.
