I believe this way we cannot deploy VSTO solutions? I tried and worked in dev computer but not in another PC. It worked perfectly for win form application. Thanks

Correct, we can use ClickOnce or Windows Installer (Not available for VS Community version). I'll give a quick demo later today for Workbook/Doc as well as Add-ins deployment. Watch out!

You can add installer projects straight from Visual Studio the following way: In Visual Studio, in the top menu (with file, edit, tools...) -Click on "extensions", -choose "manage extensions", -choose "online" (it's the default), it includes the marketplace. -Type "installer" in the top right search bar, -click MS VS Installer Projects, then "download". -Close Visual Studio, then the VSIX installer will run automatically. -click "Modify" when prompted. -Profit.

Great tutorial. Been looking for a DotNet 5 Setup Project tutorial. Apparently, Primary Output doesn't work for DotNet 5 now. :(. It doesn't ever give you the EXE in the Program Files folder, just a DLL. Any idea when Microsoft will support DotNet 5 Setup projects in VS2019? I've complained to MS, but it falls on deaf ears. Anyone?

Do you have an idea? How to add additional executable and installable files with C# installer project, that install automatically with application setup.

I haven't tried that but why not include it as part of install? Custom Actions might be way to go about but anti virus might block it + user will need to run your app with admin permission.

Sir i am building an office add in using vsto, i am trying to populate a combo box with a large data but facing difficulties in finding where to store these data . After a lot a research i find out that storing these data in a xml doc and reading from it upon loading the add in is an effective way to achieve my target. Can you make a video about that ?

Hi Gyan, sure I will try and cover this in upcoming videos. You can store data in a platform you're comfortable with for example Excel, Access DB or Server, etc. may be in shared drives if the list needs to be changed or maybe in %LOCALAPPDATA% if the list is static or will be self-maintained by end-user like settings. XML and JSON or flat files are normally used because of the less size without formatting. We'll talk more in detail in the video.

@@VBAA2Z Thank you for your reply. Even starting VS as admin, I can't create a valid Desktop shortcut. The one created is not active, it is underlined by a blue wavy line, and makes the setup build to fail. The setup build is successful if I remove the shortcut. No error messages either. Any directions, please?
