Hello my friends,
In this video, I'll show you five ways to paint pine branches. We'll be
using many different colors of greens and browns to create beautiful warm and cool colors. Most importantly, we'll be adding texture by using my favorite technique, dry brushing! Hope you enjoy.
Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see next.
Take care,
Jackie

Ok, I will share some nostalgia from my childhood. Here are the things that take me back to my childhood. I'm 53, I grew up on a farm in Pa with nature all around. There was an orchard, woods, the smell of fresh harvested hay, yes, there was the smell of livestock but the barn was about a quarter of the mile down our very long dirt driveway. We only got a whiff of livestock if the wind was blowing from that direction...it wasn't that often. We had flower gardens and vegetable gardens...so for me it's all about my connection with nature.

Thank you, Penny for giving us a glimpse into your childhood 🤍 Fresh harvested hay; love that! Reminds me of fall. That’s wonderful you had vegetable gardens. Nothing beats fresh tomatoes or zucchini.

Hello, My name is Misty. I'm an RN. I used to dabble in photography when my children were young. I have 5 Adult children, and 4 grand babies so far! I'm 50 years old. I started watercolor painting 3 years ago. (with 5 kids I never had time for myself) I have no idea why but I LOVE evergreen trees. I could paint them 24/7 and never get bored. I love your channel! Anything 80's is so nostalgic for me...New Kids on the Block haha

Hi! I love your technique on all these fir trees! I'm 67 soon to be 68 from NH. I have been retired in VA for the past 10 years though. My memories of scents come from the woods in NH, the scent of chewing on teaberry leaves, the smell of wild grapes at the end of season, so sweet. There is also a small type of fern that gives off a very pleasant smell that I can't describe, but know it when I come across it, I can't get enough of that woodsy fragrance. Mmmmm. Thanks for making me think of this. It brings back to a wonderful childhood playing in the woods. 🙂

Thank you, Marcia! And thank you for sharing one of your childhood memories. I’ve never been to NH, but I can visualize the wild grapes. 🤍 I grew up picking the wonderful black berries that grew nearby.

Great video, Jackie! It seems when we paint evergreen sprigs, we usually just kind of lump them altogether. It's funny that you asked about the smells which bring nostalgic memories. I have hyperosmia, a heightened sense of smell. While I was born in the Midwest, 68 years ago, and grew up on the smells of corn growing and so many different kinds of trees and plant life, my favorite place in the world is the beach, the sea! I have lived in Florida now for 34 years and consider it home. Though I lived just a short walk to the ocean for many years, I now live about 2 hours from the closest beach, but when the breezes blow on the right day, I can still smell the ocean! However, I do love the many different smells of all kinds of wood and draw lots of trees of all kinds in ink with watercolor washes. My very favorite thing to create! 🌳🌴🌲💚🌊💙

Thank you, Bonnie for sharing! There’s nothing like the smells of the ocean. And the sounds. Some of my favorite memories as a child were at the beach. Of course, it sounds like your beaches are/were warm. Mine were icy cold rainy days with heavy waves crashing against large rocks. 🤍 I’ll have to share more water scenes in future videos!

Have you had hyperosmia for a long time? It sounds like it could be overwhelming, especially with perfumes, hair products etc. I am sensitive to smells like lavender and coconut; they can trigger migraines for me.

@@JackiePeacock I've had it all my life and it has become more profound as I've gotten older. I also have multi-chemical sensitivity. And, yes, it can definitely get overwhelming sometimes. Sometimes ya just gotta see the funny side of things! Many artists love to draw or paint roses and even the thought of roses makes me nauseous! When my husband I first started dating (over 40 years ago!) he, of course, bought roses and it was so hard to tell him they made me sick! I so wanted white roses for our wedding but knew this probably would not be possible. I did find a florist who got some special hothouse roses with almost no smell! So, yeah, I get unscented everything when possible!

Ooh my. And yes, I suppose you do need to see the funny side, lol. and oh no to the roses! Flowers give me headaches, too. But love pine and bark smells haha.

I get unscented everything, too! With a small exception of cinnamon candles. Love those.
