Your waste transfer facilities count as landfill, it's just indoors so it doesn't pollute as much. Waste transfer/waste processing is just the bigger, less polluty version of the landfill/incinerator set up. Recycling centers can still be peppered in as needed, specifically buried in your industry zones as those zones need a little more help and it also provides resources back to them.

Jumping on this top comment for visibility. slightly pedantic but some people might be scratching their heads - The garbage processing capacity was showing as 213k rather than 192k even with a single waste processing facility because Biffa had his funding at more than 100% which changes the output value. Nothing to do with the snow dumps.

Another pedantic comment: the low inherent rate isn't the only reason transfer stations pollute less. Pollution in this game works as a time function, so the longer the pollution source sits, the more it pollutes. This is observable by noticing industrial zones don't instantly have a wide contamination area upon construction. Therefore, as long as there is adequate processing, waste transfer centers essentially don't pollute.

Imperatur is so underrated in the C:S scene. Guy has an immense creativity. Hope to see more collabs with him, and I wouldn’t care if he’s speaking German the whole time. That’s what subtitles and/or translated CCs are for.

Hey, Biffa, I don’t think you need to change where the trams go through. Most of the cars seems to be wanting to turn right, so you could connect a road directly to the other avenue and let some of the cars go there instead. More options is always better than more lanes

You made the in lane at the motorway junction into a 3 lane it would give you the dedicated turning lanes so you have two going straight on and one left. just have to hope no one goes left. Might help with traffic later on.

Yep. This is correct. You’ll just have to accept that vanilla game mechanics will always allow u-turns in this situation. Using a 3 lane highway here will provide a dedicated u-turn lane and still have 2 lanes left over to maintain lane mathematics with your 4 lane collector. Will definitely help late-game. Come on Biffa! Too many mods. Try playing console like me. It’s like vanilla plus plus 😂

I think you shouldn't have deleted the Hickory line cause it provided connectivity to the east side of the city and the new line was for the western half. Seema like a waste to take away the connectivity from all those people from the old part of the city.

When you deleted the Hickory Sq line, people from sunset park can no more go to the industry for work directly; whereas in the past they can just take the Sunset Park line and then transfer to the Hickory Sq line. My suggestion is to have a designated line from sunset park loop to the industry:)

25:16 if you connect an inlet road into an avenue with angle more than 135° you'll get 2 arrows going straight on instead of 1 right and 1 left

49:35 Having those walking paths that goes across a block are often pointless when playing vanilla. Because you wont be able to add a crossing that line up with the path, the people have to go to the nearest intersection to cross before they can get to the next block anyway. Unless ofc you bring the path over or under the road.

There is probably a way to "cheat" it and make a cross walk appear by using 2 different kinds of road and the point between the 2 types will put a crosswalk

54:07 instead of having the tram following the big road to return to the collector you can have it cut through the open space to the left (in the timestamp) using tram only tracks to bring it to the big road and remove those trams from interfering with the traffic in the smaller roads.

Biffa, I was hoping you were going to make use of all the tram lines in the original hub, but you have instead added the extra tram lines to the other sides of the triangle. You have enough in the two parallel tram roads, for two lines to go left to right and two to go right to left, but you are only using half of this capacity.

The only thing I didn't like is the game's limitations on angled streets. Here in the United States, particularly in the Northeast we have a lot of really sharp corners!

Since Antarctica is mostly covered with I don’t know how many metres of solid ice, the city would be built on ice and not on solid stone ground. Maybe to make it more realistic upgrade the streets, which will not have zoning, to bridges. It would look more like a street with pillars into the ice than just built on it.

50:33 Well, I doubt whether it makes sense to take random sections of existing lines (loops without the opposite direction) and drag them out into more and more areas ... Sometimes it is just time to add another line. And this will allow you to adjust the number of vehicles more exactly. Busier parts of the network (near the hub, near the rail stations) can have a second or third line on the same tracks - this can smoothen the demand along the lines.

Landfill capacity includes the capacity of the Waste Transfer Facilities (which are in essence just enclosed temporary landfills...) - each has capacity of 250 000. You have 5 of them -> 1 250 000... And I'm pretty sure the 'excess' waste processing capacity was just the single Waste Processing Complex operating with over 100% efficiency due to the additional budged.

25:15 Maybe you can put in a 3-lane highway, that way you still have a dedicated lane for going left, but the other 2 lanes will go to the other 2 lanes. Basic lane mathmatics, Biffa :D

Hey Biffa! Nice episode. Just one thing, public transit lines usually go back and forth through the same path, or there are two lines looping in each direction. This is important because looping just in one direction means people need to go all around the line, across all stops, to get to a stop before theirs. Whereas if the line loops both directions, people could just have a quick ride.

You could add another road connection from the sports stadium over towards the bridge. Additionally, you should add more capacity to the university as it might be time to build on to it on the other side of the highway.

30:59, the annoying uturn, can be “fixed” with a three lane instead of two, leaving one extra lane for the uturn and two going on into two :) Also it may in some cases be a “visual only” left arrow, meaning that both lanes will go straight, but the leftmost will have a straight + turn arrow (hidden).

Just something I've noticed that has helped me using trams. Don't use more vehicles than you have stops. It stops them bunching up waiting for the same stop, one tram between each stop at all times if you make stops/vehicles equal. Hope this helps

The waste transfer facilities are considered to the landfill capacity in that menu. Because thats what they are. The processing complex picks up from the transfer complex which is a temporary landfill

I'd really like the to see the team use 'Tony Morgan Bridge', the road currently going through the workers barracks and over the river to the forestry area. You'd probably have to change some road layouts where the bridge lands in the forestry area, though.

15:30 - With two large collectors merging it seems like it may be worth moving the roundabout that is attached to the junction and have them come from the junction onto a roundabout at the intersection of the two collectors.

It's very reassuring seeing the mighty Biffa has the same frustrations/problems laying out vanilla junctions as I do, without the moveit safety net. so many of my roundabouts have one section that's a different road type because I couldn't change it. :)

just thinking about walkability, remember that your none road tram lines are used as footpaths as well, so you could replace your walking paths with tram only lines, and put a whole system off of the roads behind buildings. as always really enjoyed the video

It looks like the road between the two forestry barracks (across a bridge over the river from the forestry area) isn’t connected to the sports arena area, which is right there. Adding a connection there would give the cims another route over the water-especially to work in the forestry, which might help lighten traffic along the tram route you flagged at the end.

For your little dilema with the trumpet interchange. The very last pieces of one way, 2 lane street meets the avenue, you could make those last pieces 3 lanes. Then one lane will be the wierd lane that goes to the other side and then you will have 2 lanes still that they can use to continue on to the avenue.

If the trams are causing a bit of a traffic jam in the industry area the number of stops could be reduced and if you have the space, upgrade to 4 lane roads with the trams running down the middle. May lose some zoning with the wider roads but could build a mini zoned industry area off to the side away from the tram roads.

If it is not going to trigger OCD feelings, you could use a three lane road (I think only the highway is available in vanilla) on the interchange where the one lane turns left in stead of carrying on ahead.

Emerson Square needs more roads going in an out. It doesn't need more lanes on the tram road if you just provide more options for entering and leaving that area. Your city could definitely benefit from a tram line going serving direct movement between Sunset Sq. and Hickory Sq.

@ 31:00, you can turn that 2-lane, 1-way highway into a 3-lane, 1-way highway to give 2 lanes that go into the road. Drivers will not turn around at that intersection.

31:00 - To stop the u-turn problem you could have the road out continue on as it is but have the road in join at different point instead of all merging into one junction.

Priority roads! At 55:27 you click the green line icon - that just shows you the road you have selected, it doesn't make it priority. You have to click the "Priority Road" radio button to do that! (Which is why the traffic lights stayed)

Nice interchange! For the U-Turn problem you could just run the big street with median further along over the highway and then split off from it not at the end but where the median still is...

@Biffa ... 25:25 in the video; the way i use to fix that is make the offramp side a 3 lane highway. It throws the symmetry off a little, but that the iss we have with Vanilla. If only they would add Traffic Manager as a DLC somehow!!!!!

And i know that doesnt "Fix" it... but it at least gives you 2 continuing on, and 1 for Turn-around. Since we cant Actually stop them from turning around.... do what you can to.... "Control+Left Click= Dedicated Turning Lanes". 🤣 Side question: Do you have the "Boost Connections" policy on? Ive noticed that really helps in Vanilla, and ive missed a few episodes of this series, but i know you probably already put in 'Road Maintenance ' buildings.

You need at least 3 "hubs" for the trams. 1st is already built. 2nd should be at the turn around near the 1 the cities starting round about. 3rd should be added in the new sections getting built. and you could probably fit a 4th not too far from the stadium. decrease what each hub does, but make a rout each direction going from hub to hub.

Tip on the tram and bus hub if you use both sides of the track on each road the trams wont get stuck behind each other so much, as at the moment they cant pass another tram if it is stopped at a stop. Maybe something to have a look at? Everything else is looking good so far for vanilla!!

actually, there is a way to prevent people from turning around at the exit of your interchange .... build a roundabout and it'll fixe it :-)

On the new highway junction where the roads coming off the highway meet the four lane road maybe upgrade the final part to a three-lane one-way road, so that you have two lanes straight on, and one making the unwanted U-turn? At 31:01

I think rather than the tunnel which was a great solution, you could run the trams up the collector and over the collector bridge then bypass the water tower roundabout and come in that way.

Those roundabouts are so close together you’re almost as well having a huge oblongabout! I’d consider adding access direct from the main road to the stadium, would reduce traffic going into the shopping district to that junction.

@biffa - The leisure/soccer area lacks connectivity. If you connect it to the drag to old town and also to the bridge by the forestry industry the traffic would disperse.

Biffaaaaaaa!!! :) @ 31:02 you can get the inside lane to go straight and turn, its 6u length minimum and a straight road to connect to collector, you can also get fancy with it with the curve road but only a little bit of a curve, i like to curve at 5u at the very end of the road for a slight bend into the collector, This how i correct arrows on console, its one of the more rarer quirks about building on CS on console that not many people on youtube know of 🤓😁

I've said it before but a sports hall 9from the health tab) looks great next to a high school. in real life almost every high school has a sports hall/gymnasium next door and it helps with the services demand and health coverage

I think changing your two way system in and out of the entertainment district to a one way couplet would help solve some of the traffic backups. It’s already kind of being used that way: everyone seems to be turning in on one side of the train station and going out on the other side.

You could have either put in 3 lane highways to go into a 6 lane road and then down into a 4 lane one or you could have the end bits that do the uturn go into a roundabout maybe?

A way to cheat the lane mechanics when joining the offramps might be to use a three-lane road. Most cars should then go to the middle and right lane without the need for merging immediately.

On the trams, I think the blue line (Borky Park Hickory Square) has too many stops. If I'm from Borky Park, I don't think I would want to go touring around Evergreen Park, Horky Park, etc., until I reach Hickory Square. Maybe having a straightforward "north-south line", one that runs along the main roads from Borky Park to the industrial area, and a circular/circumferential/"east-west" line, going through Evergreen Park, Horky-Borky Parks, etc. would be better.

Hey Biffa, One thing I learned when taking highways into a 4 lane road, if you make them come in with the straight tool instead of the curved road tool, you don't get that dedicated turning lane. It turns into a straight on or turn lane. Might work for you on the new trumpet. Awesome vid!

Hi Biffa, I would use trash collection by the district using the Transfer Controller mod, that way you don't have trash trucks going through traffic all over your map! Love it!

For your interchange coming off the highway, make it a 3 lane road. So you can have two lanes with a straight option.

With your forestry line you didn't really need to change it. You could've just deleted all the stops off of the line up until the cutoff station, as they could just transfer lines (would cause less tram traffic!)

Hey Biffa, A nice aeries again, I am absolutely loving it! To avoid weird turns on bic intersections you could provide some u turn bridges on the highway. I have seen that in egypt and chile, it exists. I also love to add some type of parking/resting areas on the highways to make them look more realistic. Also you could merge your 2x 2-way highways into a 6 lane pieces. I think bkth lanes should go straight then. Beat regards from Germany!

Honestly, I'd have bit the bullet and made an OVAL-a-bout where that tiny one and the large were situated rather than putting the collector road between. Also, Evergreen park could be renamed Wintergreen Tea park. In holding with the usual themes.
