I'm a huge Linkin Park fan and being mad deep into LP since part of the street team in 99 when I was a sophomore lol... I can say... this is fucking RAD!!! I It really does have Mike's feel on it! Very nice! And thank you for showing all the sampling and production as well most people don't show that
Reanimation is my fav album of all time. I listen to it every week at least once. And I also tried to replicate the feel of its sound but you sir absolutely nailed it! Thank you for this video man!
Oh my god, thank you so much for this. I'm obsessed with the Xero/Hybrid Theory EP/HT/Meteora sound, and I'm new to music production so it's hard to replicate the style without knowing what everything is called. So this video helps a lot. (Plus the beat is SPOT ON)
This really nails that sound that was at the core of all of LP's early music. This is what every LP cover and "Linkin Park style" track is missing. This is the stuff underneath the guitars that rock listeners are completely oblivious to. Those grungy, crunchy, distorted electronic hip hop beats. That was always the foundation on which they built their music, and most of their "fans" have no idea any of it is there.
I've done several videos on my channel just playing with the stems of LP songs to try to bring this stuff to the surface for the people who insist that they're a rock band. No rock band makes music like that.
I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the tone you use when playing PO-128 is the same tone of sound that was used in the song NUMB. however, it was slightly modified later.
@@NDAOfficial The sound definitely has some similarities to the one heard in Numb, you're right about that! Oversimplified: a bunch of distortion and bitcrush does the trick ✌
Thank you! 🙏 It's one of my own 808s designed with Native Instruments Massive! But tbh, you can create a similar sound with almost any plugin: it's pretty much a distorted sinewave that starts high and drops down an octave or two pretty fast (talking milliseconds). If you're unfamiliar with sound design, Ramzoid 808 Cooker is a great plugin to create this type of sound really easily :) Have fun 👊
@@Kooma Alright! Cool, thanks for answering. It sounds really good. Tried making something similar in Serum but couldn't get it to sound as good. Will try your tip! Thanks!
I absolutely love the sound you created here, especially layering the different drums with the bitcrusher. I cannot find your stream on Twitch, is it still available? I'd really like to learn a bit from you about how to create such beats. I am a big Linkin Park fan myself :) Cheers!
Thank you so much! I believe Twitch deletes the full streams after a while but I can check if I still have the recording for it somewhere on my hard drive, will share an unlisted RU-vid link if I'm able to find it 🙏
@@acousticsound7 Probably not the best place for scratches but got mine from freesound(dot)org! Definitely workable samples there (And a lot of Creative Commons 0 samples so easy to use even on commercial projects)
Gracias! Y perdon, I don't know how to answer your question in Spanish haha: I just run the Pocket Operator through the Mainframe with aux and jack cables to my soundcard and experimented until I was happy with the result 😁
If I remember correctly, the one going from PO-33 K.O to Mainframe is called "Mini-to-Big Jack male cable" and the one going from Mainframe to my soundcard is "2 x Jack male cable"!
I personally enjoy the distorted impact a lot - it works as a nice transition and indicates a clear energy shift in the beat! But these things are obviously just a matter of taste, no rights or wrongs :)
@@Kooma it was a bit reductionistic because I didn’t know whether or not it would be read or not, but I should have added that the style of your video is absolutely superb with all the pixel art and artsy transitions. Did you make those yourself?
@@Ruktiet Happy to hear that! And yes, I edited the full video by myself but some of the visual assets, like the Reanimation Mecha and the animated pixel art version of myself, have been created by other visual artists 🎨
@@Kooma It's kind of reassuring, otherwise you would have such talent that I wouldn't see my own value in this world anymore haha. Anyways, nonetheless, again, very well done
In these types of cases, I tend to bounce the audio after applying the FX chain to save CPU so I don't really remember anymore lol. Sounds like a combination of bitcrusher (probably Krush by Tritik), distortion (probably Waves Berzerk Distortion because of the crisp stereo sound), reverb/echo (ValhallaVintageVerb/Soundtoys EchoBoy) and stereo imager (Waves Doubler 2 or Ozone Imager). Tweaking those plugins (or similar vst's) should give you the desired effect!
I do agree that the beat doesn't necessarily sound like LP to be honest, it's pretty hard to sound like them haha! It was very fun experiment and I'm personally REALLY happy with the beat 😊
