In this video I show how I handle samples. Both loading, autoloading and file management. Certainly not the only way to do it, but I thought I'd share what works for me.
it is ridiculous how hard it was to find this video. I had to reword my search for almost 24 hours. THIS one of the most MAC FRIENDLY INSTRUCTIONALS ON THE WEB PERIOD!
Thanks Jimbo! Well presented, FREE ADVICE, and easy to follow ( unlike many other videos) Really don't like the KRONOS interface should be a shortcut to unchecking the GLOBAL KSC autoload files.
Great video! I just tried loading a sample without unchecking the KSC's in the Auto-Load at the beginning and it worked perfectly. I'm on Version 3.1.3. Cheers!
Thanks for making this video. I was still looking for a good way of having a clean file system on the Kronos when working with original samples and it is getting messy very fast. You brought a little light to that.
WHY DOES EVERY OTHER KRONOS VIDEO TELL PEOPLE TO GO RIGHT TO CONVERT TO MULTI SAMPLE! THAT SCREWS UP THE FILE MANAGEMENT AND AUTO LOAD, LIFE SAVING SHIT RIGHT HERE MY BOY
This is the only video I have found that clearly solves my KSC issues. Excellent tutorial, clear and concise. Why Korg only have 6 videos in their online Video Manual for a machine with over 1300 pages in the 2 pdf manuals I just don’t know. There is no doubting the capabilities of this machine but I have to say the Roland Fantom I have has a much better and easier to use interface than the Kronos. Each purchase should come with a free magnifying glass as the 16 ch Combi mode is just awful. Thanks Jim
I got a problem with having a bunch of places wit the same sample. L&R. It is in the multi sample page. Do I need to continue to do a multi sample every time I sample?
Nice and clear tutorial. Thanks!. Next question ;-) : does someone know how to add more (multi)samples to the same KSC-file just like de factoryfiles of the Kronos? It seems to me it must be possible to create your own soundcollection in a single KSC-file. Then you just have to preload one KSC with you own favourite samples.
Yikes, that's a tough one. I might recommend you start grouping your KSC files up a bit (by band project of whatever) to simplify. Also, I think the new update may have given you the ability to avoid the "unchecking", but I haven't mastered that yet so I cannot speak to it.
Great idea. This works but wow. A lot of work to save disk space when this should just work when you save all. The headache is when you create a new sample, do a save all in a new directory or replace a userbank that’s currently in ram... It’s like that new sample doesn’t get stored with that user KSC.
I think a lot of this has to do with control. By not automatically saving all sequences with "save all", it prevents you from overwriting too much material on accident. I think that after I tamed the process, I find the ability to tune anthologies is a superior thing. If I had one complaint, it's the inability to overwrite song files. So if you want the same song name, you have to erase the existing one, then save a new file with same name. Make sense?
Sorry, just seeing this now. Under the Utility tab of the Disk Mode, you can "create directory" from the little arrow in the upper right hand corner. You can also delete, move, rename, etc. in there.
Sorry Fred. That's the best I could get off my phone's camera. But if you have a Kronos in front of you, you should be able to gather what I'm doing; or at least I would hope.
