I've done a similar technique to my daily driver truck. Everyone thinks its a wrap. I painted it to look like a WW2 airplane. 7 or more paint colors under the silver and gray. back sanded. when I drive it on trails and it gets scratched it just looks better. I airbrushed over 200 rivets on it. I'm really excited to do my first RC truck the FMS max smasher. You are inspirational. Looking forward to more tips and tricks. Thanks. I'm excited to see how trail damage will add to the effect on your RC.
wow that sounds awesome!!!! and yes the best thing is any more damage or scratches on the Rc just adds to the look and not afraid to drive it anywhere like a news shiny paintjob haha good luck for your project
I just got one word WOW !!!!!! I have been painting rc car an truck bodys for about 5 years I do think this is the best old/new body lol I have seen great job friend
wow thanks very much! it was my 1st attempt at rust and damaged body etc really enjoyed it found it more satisfying than doing polished perfect new body to be honest not afraid to make mistakes as its not noticed haha 👍
Awesome!!!😮 so I want to but the RGT challenger 1/10 RC in the green color they have..but I want to remove the gloss of the shell, how can I do that to make it matte?
If you have a gloss shell and your keeping the same colour you can spray tamiya flat spray on it to make it flat / matt but I would do a test area 1st to check your happy with it, if your changing the colour then you need to sand it all over respray in a flat colour if thats what you mean :)
An amazing technique I purchased everything to do this myself thanks to your inspiration and instruction I will post a link to it when I finish it I have procrastinated it a while too many other projects, Ive watched this a million and a half times now. ty again Pro Tips !
Do it Do it!! and don't worry the good thing with a rust bucket body is the fact you can't really make any mistakes as it just adds to the look! hope it goes well enjoy it 👍👍
I'm attempting to do this on an arrma big rock body. I haven't seen it done yet, a little different rusting out a newer model basher truck but, il let you know how she turns out!
@@KG-47 Sounds great I went a bit mad doing lots as it was my 1st one but you can get some great effects experimenting sure it will look excellent enjoy the process!
Thanks for that really kind of you to say 👍 made my Monday morning much better😍 Its so satisfying ruining a body instead of always being afraid to mess up the fine details and paint job 😆😆
I love this so much. The question is though, how well will it stand up to actual use? Scratches and trail love and such? Is there something we could coat it with?
Hi thanks for watching, I have a video on the channel of it going round a huge scale course and its fine as the rust and paint is solid with flat clear coat on top so doesn't chip off and to be honest you are never gonna notice a scratch on that rusty old body ha ha Cheers for tuning in my friend👍👍👍
Great videos! Love all the 3d printed accessories 😍 did you design them yourself or is there a file somewhere I can download? We built my son's trx4 kit this weekend getting ready for paint today.thanks for the great videos, keep em coming 👍🍻
cheers for checking it out excellent fun building the kits glad your going well, for any 3d printed parts I buy them from knight customs from USA or 99% of the accessories I buy are just from ebay various sellers love just going through ebay looking for various 1/10 scale parts for them just a pain waiting 2-5 weeks for the stuff from china haha
Glad you liked it thanks for commenting much appreciated It was a great Rc to work on! nice to mess up an Rc instead of being afraid to scratch it haha Thanks again for watching 😎
Thanks hope yours goes well love Power Wagons too!! they are Proline Flat Iron XL Tyres and wheels from Ebay SSD 1.9 Steel 8 Hole Beadlock Wheels SSD00268 Ref Number from rc-biz Good luck with the project 👍👍
@@rcadventurer great thanks mate, I have mine at the red oxide primed underneath stage, nice and shiny from the outside! Doing trials on off cuts of polycarbonate. Building up the courage to attack with cuts salts rust etc. It’s not easy being brutal lol. I might do a milder version of yours.just checking out your pics on Facebook, you have different rusty wheels on there, they look they part better I think. Which wheels are they please? Ps you realise that soon there will be a clone of yours running around this summer! I’m in the midlands so hope we don’t clash lol thanks for your help and inspiration. John C.
@@johnchapman1649 oh yeah forgot at the end of the vid I just put on the huge mudslingers from my other Rc as the ones I messaged you were not ready at that point so yes the rusty ones and the ones I messaged you just rusted them up from being black. Don't mind if there are lots of rusted up ones they look so individual love them send me pics of your when done please , now get chopping and cutting haha👍
@@rcadventurer yes will send pics when finished, one more question, after applying water then salt or flour, do you dry it out before spraying on the paint?
@@johnchapman1649 cool, if it's very wet yes if not very wet you can spray then just leave to dry b4 scratching off the residue if that's what your doing if its to be left as it is after painting just leave to dry, the flour turned really hard on mine especially on the doors more lumpy if that's what u want sugar/ salt crumbles more 👍👍
Thanks very much the products are listed in description box "rustique rust formula" is one of the products great stuff from Ebay thanks again for watching dude 👍👍👍👍👍
Great artwork! I am about to paint my dodge power wagon for my trx4 , is the the varnish Matt 49 ok to go direct onto polycarbonate? Once it is on I guess you don’t need a polycarbonate paint to go on top of the varnish? Namely the blue.
Thanks for checking it out you can only put PS paints on lexan / poly as you know but if there is a colour I like that's not PS suitable I put PS flat clear on 1st to give the paint something to stick to and always use a backing colour on after to seal it in like white or black etc. If you try on a test piece of plastic and screw it up the non ps paint cracks, but for general Rc use I have had no issues with this method so far. This project was different as it wouldnt get noticed a few cracke haha but I don't recommend it as such just in case you get a prob but so far all the ones I have done on my channel the scx10III jeep and trx4 defender have been fine even after a few tumbles no more damage than Ps paint so all good. Thanks again for watching much appreciated and good luck with your project👍👍
@@rcadventurer thanks, just one last question, is it ok to spray the inside with red oxide fine primer straight onto polycarbonate? Or should I use the polycarbonate Matt varnish first?
The only thing that bothers me is the clean decals. Something that badly rusted would probably have rusted emblems and would probably be missing some letters. But overall amazing job.
Thanks very much and good point I was going to put them on before and do a little distressing on top but didn't in the end, thanks for watching much appreciated 👍 👍
How much you charge to do something like this i have a creep body i got from a body let me know am d wanting to do something like this for my crawler but wanting it white and rusty plz let me know man
Hi thanks for checking it out Bro, to be honest I have so many on the go at the moment for myself I cant do orders to sell but I do sell my various body's every now and then on my FB page if you wanna follow that @rcadventurervideos yours sounds great to do and I would recommend Rcpatinaguy check him out on FB he will be able to do something for you 👍👍 or have a go its a good laugh creating it and save the money😉😉
Hi Thanks for asking at the moment I have too much on so don't offer custom jobs for sale but I do sell some of my Rc's every now and then if I sell this will let you know or if I start selling custom Rc body's also. I am looking to do this in the future just not at the moment my friend, Thanks for watching much appreciated👍👍👍👍
I’ll be honest, I don’t like it. The style of wanting a rusted warn out beat to hell truck isn’t for me. BUT, damn do you have some skills! I can’t look at it and see it as a piece of lexan. It looks like a beat up pile of metal that’s been left to rot on the rain for a decade or so. Great job!
HaHa love your comment thought oh dear here we go ....then BOOM!! all good 😆😆 Its not for everyone agree totally but so satisfying to ruin and mess up a body for a change instead of being afraid of making any marks or imperfections. Thanks for watching and commenting much appreciated Cheers👍👍👍👍
yes the wheels I made for it were not ready this is the next video with the rusty wheels to match it thanks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J-UBbRTMBEU.html 👍
@@Serg_E haha I am not a perfectionist 😆and use that chassis for my dodge power wagon so just take the wheels off and body and swap for my silver power wagon body with different wheels so didn't want a rusty rear axle cap just for the 1 build and video as I always use the silver power wagon and never use the rusty one it was just an experiment doing my 1st rusty Rc car thanks for checking it out much appreciated 👍
