Already deleted my Instagram shortcut and turned the grayscale on + downloaded an app to monitor how long I use my phone and I put a timer on it! Plus, I've been listening to Calm's 7 days of focus meditation lately, so my brain starts to notice when I'm off track. Thanks for your videos!

@@muchelleb Hi dear , it all started as a step in removing all my distractions.. after i had set my goals , then slowly became a habit and eventually a lifestyle . I have fed my phone calendar with few b'day reminders 😁 ,,so that i can wish people on time . And in any case I'm not able to take up calls immediately there's a automatic reply back msg to reach them later. It's just a conscious choice i made , though achieved only half of my goals ,the journey is going peaceful,. Much love to you Muchelleb - ur videos are always inspiring and useful 💗

I don’t think social media is an issue. I believe it’s the people you follow. I only have a few of the people I follow on stories and I limit my scrolling time which makes a difference. I also listen to RU-vid channels like to to help improve my life.

I have made myself a priority schedule actually. A bit like the "ideal day" you talked about in the end of the video. I do think it is easier to do when you have a 9-5 job. Just a tip. At the end of the workday you have your favorite show to look forward to BUT you can NOT skip anything on the list to get to it faster. No eating dinner while scrolling or watching netflix. I usually watch the news. This has really worked for me but if course it is easy to just don't bother if you are not motivated. It depends on what gets you motivated of course. 1. Breakfast (don't skip breakfast). 2. Work (no phone at all at work. Goes in my deskdrawer). 3. Come home make dinner. Watch the news while eating. 4. Household chores (dishes, vacuum, etc). 5. Important tasks (pay bills etc). 6. Go for walk or gym. 7. Watch favorite show, movie or go on Instagram/phone. 8. Rewind and go to bed.

Madeleine, that's amazing. I'm curious as to how you find time to do everything. I wake up at 5, get to work by 8 and usually get home around 5:30. By that time I'm feeling tired, so even though I want my evenings to be exactly like yours, it usually ends up with me cooking dinner and watching tv before bed, and even then I struggle with getting to bed on time. I need to find a way to fit in gym and chores too. Do you have any tips on how you do this?

TheDoobalooba my biggest and most useful tip is to do these things every day. Because if you do the dishes every day you will have very little dishes to clean. If you look over your home everyday for 10 minutes you will have very little to put back in its place. And if I am tired I go for a walk and not to the gym. Riding my bike or walking to the foodstore is also exercise! Just move at some point of your day and it will be okay. Priority is your privilege and practice that as far as possible 😊 So at first you need to reset your home if you are just getting started. You can watch videos on muchelleb's channel on reseting. And remember that your human, it will never be perfect and that is okay! ❤️

Skipping breakfast works for those who do intermittent fasting, which in turns leads to more focus because the body is 'free' from the energy-dependant act of digestion

been really addicted to social media this year, it has been a major distraction to me. i decided to finally take action, uninstalled some apps and turned off the notifications for instagram, facebook and twitter. as for youtube, i would often find myself binging on multiple random videos for hours. so i've made a new account and only subscribed to channels that make content that really inspire and motivate me, so that everytime i open youtube, these kinds of videos are the first thing i see. little steps, but has sure helped me a lot!

I changes my password on my phone to a reaaally long passwort, the longest my phone let me and now I always hesitate to even pick it up. I give myself some time during the day to watch youtube and thats it. Also I recently spend a couple of days at my moms house. My younger siblings are still kids and they live at home. They are 11 and 6 years old. Seeing their everyday routine, how my mom handles the kids, her job, the household and cooking every single day was really inspiring. Especially sweing her be busy all day with chores, yet at night shes so happy and fulfilled. That really inspired me to be more like her. Especially now that I am expecting my first baby, I really want to get my routines together 😊

RU-vid is hard for me, because it is both a source of knowledge and entertainment for me. I spend too hours every day watching photography and graphic design tutorials, but then 11pm rolls around and I find myself watching funny cat compilaion videos x) It's hard to find a balance, but I'm working on it: I'm gonna be a bounce back queen! Coming to this video from the Self Care while isolating video. I want to spend less time scrolling on my phone, so I disabled Facebook, and to make my phone less appealing to go onto, I have switched my language settings to Russian (which I am trying to learn.) So it makes my phone a little more challenging to navigate. Two birds with one stone, as they say. Thank you for the time you put into these challenges.

Absolutely loved this and can’t wait for the new series! I’m currently doing a wake up at 6am challenge (that I’m also filming for my own channel) and you’ve inspired me to cut down on my RU-vid time and replace that with meditation. I’ve already cut out Instagram but sometimes I use RU-vid so much it doesn’t even matter 😅

Hey Muchelle. This video was super timely for me as I sat down and wrote out my "ideal work at home day" the other day and today was my first time implementing it. I have a "ultimate ideal day" mapped out, but I've started with a skeleton of that and am adding one remove and replace habit at a time to avoid overwhelm and quitting and so that I'll slowly reach that ideal day with a good foundation. Basically, the skeleton version is a day of the few habits I've already mastered and I'm just building one at a time from those. I love your information and both challenging and realistic approach to habit-building. As always, your content has been helpful and practical. Keep it up!

One of my bad habits is going to be REALLY hard to curb... I get a LOT of good stuff out of RU-vid (audio books, insights like from your channel, listening up on lectures etc) so I can't ban RU-vid, BUT my bad habit is killing time on RU-vid just clicking around between random videos. How do I restrict HOW I use RU-vid? :-/

There’s a youtube suggestions blocker that I find helpful that works on desktop if you’re a desktop watcher - I’m not sure of the name but google youtube suggestions blocker and something will come up!

Soooo my one was instagram and i deleted it i believe a few months back now- its frigin awesome not being caught up into that but it also kinda sux when the people around u (friends and family) are hooked and its like u cant really relate lol but yeh- it’s weird that this has become the new norm😩😕.. but yeh! I’m loving my choice so far and i’ve filled that in by either youtube (whether it be inspirational/self development world or just funny videos)🤣 and listening to audio books- mostly on self development😊👍 so yeh! Pretty good working on myself❤️😊

INDEED!! This is so true! Although we may not think about it, our present moment is a result of what we've done in the past week, months, years. Replacement habits are definitely effective. Also, taking small steps to change habits. That way you don't find yourself going back to your old habit due to the abrupt change! I'm giving going vegan another try after watching The Game Changers on Netflix, so I can no longer buy most of the trash foods in the store because they're not vegan. It really simplifies choices!

The less instagram and more reading example applies to me too well actually. You probably said it as an extreme example but I really do spend three hours on Instagram straight, even though as a post-grad student, I should be studying really hard. Today I tried countering this by coming home late after my morning class and it worked. House = family/TV/bed/distractions but staying at uni forced me to just study lol. For me, I've noticed this lack of discipline is because of tiredness. I am so tired all the time that it just feels right to go straight home to my bed and stay there for a stupid amount of time. But I'm trying to fix this by building a workout habit as I've seen so many people say they feel energetic once they start working out.

I also am tired all the time. Found out I have sleep apnea. It may be worth seeing a doctor. But exercise is always a great habit to build. :)

I'll try to quit mindless scrolling (mostly social media) and procrastinating and replace it with language learning and working out. I've deleted all social media from my phone and set time limits on other distracting apps. I've chosen to do language learning and working out in the morning, before I get the chance to use my phone.

I’ve referenced james clear and his work a WHOLE lot on my channel, his work has absolutely influences me - I also have promoted him a lot. He definitely doesn’t do an exercise identical this (funnily the start of the exercise was actually influenced by a new years activity that Tim Ferris does). However the habit building questions in the video were of course based on the concepts that he popularised.

As a content creator, I feel like I have to be on social so much. Just curious how do you manage your time on social without feeling overwhelmed? Like do you do 30 minutes a day on IG and then log off? I worry about engagement. lol I hope that makes sense. 😊

I deleted the apps I was spending most of my time on, and badly judging myself based on the content I saw there. I have found this to work so well for me, I get my work done just the way I want to without feeling that I wasted my time somewhere else.

Put my alarm clock on the opposite side of the room and activated push notifications for calm. I really liked the ideal day exercise, it’s actually not that far from my actual days, so I think little adjustments will make a big difference. Felt totally calm just thinking about that kind of day!

Love this, I have just come out of a slump and was telling myself that I need to actually take action on my goals, not just write them down and expect something to happen magically from that. I've set 1 goal for the next 2 weeks, and it's to get out of bed straight away so that I can spend 30 minutes in front of my SAD lamp - there's a pretty serious why there already, and I've set it up ready on the breakfast bar which is also where my phone sleeps. The plan is to read on my library app during that half hour, but also if I want to scroll, that can be a chill reward for actually getting up and having some time for myself in the morning and not rushing. Wish me luck!

Hi! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos for a while now! I FINALLY have changed my life! Mainly because I took your suggestions of listening to blinkist! I think you mentioned this somewhere along your videos, and I’ve listened to 30+ in a week and I signed up for the year! I also started implementing the things from miracle morning and now I wake up at 6am, and I do my morning routine! I had a motivational lockdown just a few days ago and I felt so lost. This was good. On the social media one...I did a Social Media-less Summer this year and it was amazing! In order to make it more doable, I unfollowed everyone on fb, got out of all groups, and then unfriended those who did not bring me joy. It is now November and I still have no desire to go back there. I just pop in maybe once a month just to say hi. It is much better to live our lives and not the lives of those on social media.

Very late to the party but binge watching and working my way through at the moment. I've transferred my ideal day and actions to take to minimise the steps between me and my good habits in my bullet journal. Ive deletedthe social media apps and changed my password to my phone to minimise time wasted on my phone 🤗🤗

The big bad thing I want to change is "overthinking", so I put down all my though in my journal in the morning, then start to work hard through my plan instead of sitting there and thinking about it !
