This is my third day of ever learning how to crochet in my life. And I could say that this is the first video I’ve come across where I’m not sitting there crying wondering what I’m doing. As a visual learner, thank you so much for the visual picture that you drew out for us
You are most welcome Amelia. I’m sorry that you were drawn to tears previously. Definitely check out my Crochet Basics Playlist and all my Beginner Series. They will help you to get your feet on the ground. 😉😊🧶❤️
I have watched so many videos on how to do this I must have tried for 2 full hours until I came across this. And thank the sweet baby Jesus. Because this is the easiest explanation! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Especially with the markers! This is awesome!
HI Lisa! I am so happy that you found my tutorial helpful! I try to create videos that make sense and I'm glad I succeeded. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊🧡🧶
I kept searching for videos, probably struggled on making a ball for at least 1 week! Thank goodness I found this video. This is the only one I can understand! 😊
I am so glad you found my video!! I'm also glad it has helped you to finally make a ball. There are so many projects you can make once you understand how to make this structure. Can't wait for you to experiment and play. 🤗❤️🧶
Wow! I’ve seen so many videos on crocheting and this is the best one of all, you explain so well that makes crochet very easy. I loved the way you use the tail to mark the circles, excellent tip. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge ❤
Great tutorial Tiffany. Your clear explanations are perfect for a visual learner like me. I have crocheted for a long time and I learned by watching someone in person demonstrating it. This was, of course, before the internet. I'm so glad there are talented teachers like you who produce such wonderful teaching content. Thank you so much!
I have watched many how-to videos for crochet, and this was one of the best. Your directions, speed, explanations and closeup camera work were all really well done. Thank you
Thank you so so much for your video!!! I have learned so easily!! It was so hard to understand the books but with your explanation I can now understand! Again thank you!! Amazing way of teaching!!
This is the best walkthrough I could find on youtube! You sound so kind and I really enjoyed doing it with you as a beginner. Loved the tip of using the end the yarn to mark your stitch marker. Thank you!
I stumbled across your channel recently and I honestly love you haha I’ve been sticking to basic things like scarves and blankets, simply because I haven’t been able to find a walkthrough for working in the round that makes sense to me. You break everything down perfectly and make it seem so easy! I’ve finally been able to create some small little crocheted animals. Thank you!!
Oh I love it Sarah!!!! So excited you are able to make little crocheted animals now! I love making little stuffed animals. Thank you so much for your support and watching my videos. Keep up the great work! 😊🧡🧶
This has been really helpful. I wanted to make my own ball but was unsure of how many rounds to increase and single crochet. But I think i kind of get it now. Thank you for this!! 💙
this help sooo muchhh i literaly went for the hole youtube looking for something that it helps but ether it was to fast of it was very bad explain and this in amazingggg im gonna see this video for everrr im doing my second ball! im so proud of myself!!! :)
Hi Connie! I am so happy that my video helped! So excited for you to make your first ball! Haha believe me, once you start it opens up so many more creative ideas. 😊❤️🧶
I'm so glad it was helpful. I really wanted to teach how you could change the shape of the ball to whatever you wanted and not just limit you to the one pattern. It's just something I care about. Teaching for understanding not just a quick follow along.😉
Hi Anna! Actually no, the number of single crochets in round one will depend on how rounded or pointy you want the circle to begin. You can absolutely play with this. 😊❤️🧶
I'm loving this tutorial so much! You've been the most helpful one out there, but I am confused on something with the decreasing, you are 2tog then 4 trying to match with your row 5, but your row 5 is inc 1 sc3 and I'm confused as to where the 4 is coming from, please help thank you!
Hi Phoebe! I’m so glad you like my video! Let me see if I can help. When you are ready to decrease you basically just reverse your increase rows. If you INC single crochet , then 3 sc repeat in the last increase row then when you are ready to decrease you will do the reverse and dec single crochet, 3 single crochet repeat and work your way down town after row. My apologies if I said something different in the video. It should be symmetrical in both sides. 😊❤️🧶. Thanks for asking!
I guess that all depends on what you are trying to make. If you are wanting to make a plain ball I would take the side of increases you just made and trace it on a piece of paper. If you were to instantly go from increases to decreases it would take on an almond shape, in a way. By stenciling on a piece of paper the one side 2 times, cut out the shape of the paper and lay them on the table. Move the paper closer together and further apart until you see the shape you are wanting to make. Now measure that distance. Work however many rounds of single crochet stitches you need to make to reach this measured length and then start decreasing. It can be so hard to answer this question not knowing what size yarn or crochet hook you are using. But by utilizing this method you will get the correct answer no matter what. Hope this helps! 😊❤️🧶
Do you change the number of rows that have sc in each stitch depending on how big the ball is? Or do you always do 5 rows of sc before starting your decrease rows?
So, I can use this ball method to make a dome for my cat bed, and make it as large as I want? Do I do the 4 rows of sc to make it curve, regardless how large or small?
You can use this method to make a dome absolutely. Just adding rows of on stitch per stitch space between Increase rows to pull the shape into more of a cone shape. You can also make as many increase rows as you want to enlarge the size to what you want. I made a more recent video that might help you a lot. Hi Beth! Think of the single crochet rounds as an elongation. The more sc rows you make the longer that increase or decrease section will be before you increase or decrease again. Also take into consideration how long you want this increase section or decrease section to be. Then measure how long just one row is. Divide how long you want it to be by how long one row is and that can tell you how many rows will fit in this section. Then take the number of rows, how many of those rows will need to be either increases or decreases and then see how many rows you would have left over to divide up for sc only rows. Gosh I hope all this makes sense.
@@CrochetWithTiffany thank you so much for explaining that to me. It made perfect sense! Your tutorials are awesome & I can't count how many things I've made with them. Thank you for sharing all of them with us. 💜
Hi Melinda! Actually it’s pretty easy. When you are increasing rows or decreasing rows you will add one row of one sc in each stitch across between you increase rows or decrease rows and that will stretch it out making it more oval like. 😊🧶❤️
