Beautiful Peacock Feather Applique...made with mercidised cotton thread and 1.75mm crochet hook
Peacock feather (written instructions):
Sequence of colors
A) Dark blue
B) Light blue
C) Light brown
D) Light green
E) Dark purple
F) Dark green
Terminology used
sc = Single Crochet stitch
hdc = Half Double Crochet
dc = Double Crochet
tc = Triple Crochet
slst = Slip stitch
F/o = Finish off
ch = Chain Stitch
st = Stitch
Procedure or Instructions
Row 1= start with color A, make 14dc(Ch3+13dc) in a Magic circle, do not close the circle. With 14th dc attach color B and make 6dc in the same magic circle. slst in the starting ch3,pull the thread to tighten the loop. F/o color A and continue with B.(total stitch count is 20)
Row 2= ch1, sc in the same st, 2sc,1sc repeat this sequence till the last stitch,end the row with 2sc in last stitch,slst in the first st and F/o.
( Total st count is 30)
Row 3 = start with color C , ch1 and 1sc in the same st(st1)
st 2 - 2sc
st 3 - 1hdc
st 4 - 2hdc
st 5 - 1dc
st 6 - 2dc
st 7 - 1tc
st 8,9,10 -2tc each
st 11 - 1tc
st 12 - 2dc
st 13 - 1dc
st 14 - 2hdc
st 15 - 1hdc
2sc, 1sc, 1sc repeat this sequence till end that means from st 16 to st30
slst in first stitch and F/o.
Row 4 = Attach color D, 1sc in each of the stitches till end, slst in first stitch, do not F/o, attach color E and ch1
Row 5 = working with color E, 1sc each in 15st , 3sc in 16th stitch and 1sc each in rest all the stitches, slst in first stitch and F/o color E
Row 6 = continuing with color D, 1sc each in 16st , 3sc in 17th st, 1sc each in rest all stitches till end and F/o
Row 7 = attach color F, make a long sc covering sc of Row 6, ch3 and slst in 3rd st from the hook,to make a picot. Skip next stitch below and make a long sc in the next stitch as done with the first st
Continue this sequence till u reach the top of the feather, after making picot, long sc in the same stitch to make the feather looking pointed on the top, now again follow the same sequence for rest of the stitches ( long sc,picot,skip st, long sc in next st)
slst in the first st and F/o.
Hide all the tails at the back.
