This is gorgeous and i love it. I did notice a couple missing instructions though.. like how to get the string to come out of the top and keep the dent (luckily i noticed before i got too far and can figure it out myself) but the video never mentions when to do that and how. Also my bottom didnt match my top and i had to go back and add an extra increase row to the bottom. This is beginner friendly for the mist part if you are experienced enough to spot a cpuple things that are "obvious" to the more experienced. Dont get me wrong, i love this video, just throwing out some constructive criticism i guess
@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir 5 месяцев назад
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing feedback 🦋 I'll make sure to address these points in future tutorials. To attach the string at the top, I added it from underneath using a needle, and tied knots on both the upper and lower sides. This was done at the very end of the process 🪼 When dealing with a top or base that's too big, I've faced this issue myself. My solution is to add extra stitches during joining instead of starting over or increasing further. For example, if the top has 5 extra stitches than the base, I add dc2 inc in 5 stitches of the top 🫐
@gypsyrose1214
@gypsyrose1214 5 месяцев назад
@@hiffaazamir thanks 😊 I originally tried to double up when I realized it wasn't going to match but it was too many so I just pulled that one row out and added one more increase to the base (which would be DC Inc, 7 DC) ... although I am wondering if I accidentally skipped that part of the video and just missed it lol... but anyways, it ended up fitting perfect 🥰 My daughter is going to love these, she asked for some to hang from her ceiling and your pattern matched perfectly 🥰

@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir 2 месяца назад
Hey Angel! If you’re dealing with hood that’s slightly big (has a few stitches more than the base) my solution is to add extra stitches during joining instead of starting over. For example, if the top has 5 extra stitches, I add dc2inc in 5 stitches of the top while joining. Since you mentioned your upper hood is way too bigger you might want to increase a few more rows of the base as well to match the top and base. Add a few more rows as a circle until you have reached your desired round. If you don’t want to increase rows in base. You can start over your hood and skip a few stitches in the starting rows this time. Hope any of these tips help! Let me know if this works for you 🤍🪼

For the hood, when you're starting a new round, you say that you're slip stitching into the first stitch of the last round and then i see that you're chaining 3. If so, how do you not have a big hole between the 2 rounds? Mine keeps ending up with a hole when I do that.
@hiffaazamir

Hey there! You should not have a hole between start and end of rounds. That is why I chain 3, to maintain height and to fill any gaps. When you reach the end of the round, slip stitch into the first stitch of the round 🪼🦋

Hello:) Your jellyfish is so lovely. I'm trying to it now💕🫶 But I don't understand something. what does dc2inc, 4dc to 4dc mean? It's like dc2inc, '5dc' dc2inc, 6dc 😂
@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir 2 месяца назад
Hey 🌸 ‘dc’ refers to double crochet. 4dc means you need to add a double crochet in each stitch 4 times. Same with 5dc or 6dc, just add a double crochet in each stitch the number of times it’s written before dc. However, dc2inc refers to double crochet 2 increase. It means you need to add 2 double crochets in each stitch. Let me know if you understood or you want me to tell in more detail. 💗🪼 Happy crocheting!

Ah, I see where the confusion is! Yes, in the original pattern, UK terms are used, so double crochet (UK) would be equivalent to single crochet (US). Hey! It seems like you may be unintentionally missing the increases in Rounds 1-6, causing your work to remain flat rather than forming a hood shape. Hey, I’m having trouble understanding 4dc and 5dc. I watched you do it and it didn’t look like you put 4 dc into a single stick all the way round. I’m confused ahah !!
@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir Месяц назад
Hey Emily! Could you please share reference of video with minutes so I can tell you clearly? 4 dc means you need to do a double crochet in each stitch 4 times. Likewise with 5 dc. However dc2inc means you need to add 2 double crochets in each stitch🪼🌊🦋

@@hiffaazamirhey, so for round 6 you said to do 3dc in each stitch. I felt like when I’d did that it felt really tight and to ‘cramped’. So I did 3dc in one stitch and then the next one I did 1dc so on and so on. Do u think that will affect the final outcome ?

@hiffaazamir Месяц назад
@@emilynewman7292 I believe it shouldn't impact the final project. It’s great that you know how to adjust the pattern to your yarn weight and preference. This particular pattern can be challenging to grasp; even I had to redo it several times before mastering it! Let me know if you have any more questions 🪼🌊🦋

@@hiffaazamir this helps! Complete forgot it would differ from yarn to yarn. One last question ahah!! Do you think I should do the same for round 8. 4dc then 1dc so on. Or do 4dc then 2dc so on. I don’t want to do 4dc then it drag the next row 1dc down? Hope that makes sense .

im so confused because in her book, she uses uk terms so that would mean that double crochet (uk terms) is in fact single crochet? (us term) i’ve done it all wrong so ig i’m just gonna keep doing double crochet🥲🥲
@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir 4 месяца назад
Ah, I see where the confusion is! Yes, in the original pattern, UK terms are used, so double crochet (UK) would be equivalent to single crochet (US). However, it's fantastic that despite using US terms instead of original UK terms, my jellyfishes turned out beautifully! If you continue following along with my video, your results will match the one I demonstrated at the beginning. Keep up the great work, and happy crocheting! 🪼🤍

I can’t understand the hood. Mine turns out much pointier. Do you slip stitch into the first stitch of the row or the third chain?
@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir 4 месяца назад
Hey there! I slip stitch into the first stitch. If your hood appears too pointy, consider adding one or two extra stitches in the initial rows. Additionally, stuffing the hood also adds shape. If it still looks too pointy, you can thread yarn from the bottom to the top and back, gently pulling to cover the point. Let me know if these tips work for you! Happy crocheting 🪼🩵

I started making this jellyfish using the original pattern but gave up because it was difficult then I found out there was a video tutorial on it but finishing the jellyfish head it didn’t look nothing like what she has here. The instructions are off why does it say round13-15 to dc for these 3 rounds but she actually didn’t dc for those 3 rounds and just for one round. For those wanting to crochet this jellyfish I would suggest another video because now I have to frog the jellyfish’s head because the instructions are way off.
@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir 4 месяца назад
Hey Rachel! Apologies for the confusion, it means that you have to do a dc for the next three rows. I didn’t show it because it was the same thing over and over again. Let me know if you need to know anything else! I would love for you to finish it and give it another try instead of frogging it. 🌷🪼
@rachelgarcia7351
@rachelgarcia7351 4 месяца назад
Yes I’m aware that you had to dc for 3 rounds however I followed all of the instructions but my rows aren’t the same as yours where the orange part of row 16-22 you should’ve ended up with 7 rows of orange but I counted yours and you only had 6 rows. And for the white part, rows 8-15 are supposed to be in the color white as in the instructions which are 8 rows but I counted yours and you only had 6 rows of white. So the instructions don’t add up and my jelly fish head came out longer because there were more rows to follow in the video tutorial but yours had less rows.
@hiffaazamir
@hiffaazamir 4 месяца назад
@@rachelgarcia7351 I see where the problem is now. I just rechecked my jellyfishes, I counted that the peachy orange rows 16-22 has 7 rows instead of 6, including two extra for the frill. If your jellyfish head is coming out too big, you can try skipping rows 14 and 15 as you suggested. If there are any other issues, please let me know so I can help you sort them out! Happy Crocheting 🪼🪷🎀

I just realized what the mistake is, so the pattern is correct however I have been doing dc just like you but you actually have to do single crochet and follow the pattern given so that you don’t end up with a long jellyfish fish head
