I think it could work for a book. If you increase the bottom keep in mind the stitch multiple is 3+1.

Size 6 yarn will increase the size of the project.

You could do that. However, I do not have the exact number of chains worked out for a super bulky 6 yarn for this project.

The stitch multiple is 3+1. My suggestion is to make a starting chain closest to the width of the tablet in multiples of 3+1.

When you make the 1 st of the round place a stitch marker in that stitch. Be careful not to count the chain stitches that are made at the beginning of the round. They are builder stitches which are skipped and not counted.

I'm having trouble with the number of stitches also. By the 5th round I have about 53 stitches. I've been trying since yesterday and still can't get it to stay on 49 stitches. I see your comment is from 9 months ago. Have you figured it out yet? Please let me know if you did.

Try using a stitch marker in the first single crochet of each round. It is possible that you are mistaking the chain 1 at the beginning of the round as a stitch. It does not count as stitch and should be skipped. When joining rounds slip stitch to first single crochet of round.

@@NinjaBunnyCrochet Already tried the stitch marker. Still didn't work out. So I tried something else just a few minutes ago. Instead of sc all 49 stitches and then slip stitch, I sc 48 stitches and slip stitch. That worked for me until the 5th round. I only got 1 extra stitch this time. So I will just work on the 50 stitches instead of 49.

​@@NinjaBunnyCrochet Is there a left handed version of this? I'm still having trouble with this. I'm thinking it's because I'm left handed. So I hold my hook with my left hand.

Unfortunately I don’t have a left hand version
