Emma, I have done many a blanket with C2C but never in moss stitch which as plain as it is, it’s so beautiful in its simplicity. I struggle with my eye sight and found it a bit hard to see stitches and spaces, where you enter your hook etc. Do you think you can re do this video using a bigger hook (perhaps chunky yarn) so that the stitches and spaces are more obvious. It would be so much appreciated by all that struggle with this simple pattern but yet so easy to go wrong at the start. 🧶🇬🇧🧶 Maria
Have you tried putting a marker around the chain space? I found that it helps me for the first handful of rounds and from there it should be more clear!
You have a lot of ends to sew in and all on the same side. Could you do a video of how you do this tidily? Great video by the way - peaceful, clear, not too fast and no noisy background music. 😊
Thank you for a lovely clear tutorial 😊 I've tried this once before but found it tricky with a small hook and 4ply. I'll definitely have another go with a slightly bigger hook. I'm inspired by your blanket which is beautiful ❤
I have hesitated to start a scrappy crochet blanket, but this is really exciting to me and it will be my next blanket. I do expect mine will be a long term project, but that is OK! Thank you!
I just chain how wide I want my blanket and sc each chain first row and then switch colors as I go along doing the moss/linen stitch. Same result I think. Love the sock yarn. I’ve always done do but this will be next for me. Lovely. Thank you.
Thank you for such a clear tutorial. I've always felt a little intimidated by moss stitch, which is ridiculous given that it's so simple, but your tutorial has inspired me to give it another go. Thank you.
@@emmacmakes Hi again - well I spent last weekend learning how to do this c2c moss stitch using some of my dk stash. I'm absolutely hooked! I worked quite a large triangle, attached a lining and turned it into a bag. I love this stitch so much I'm now working on a neckwarmer/cowl using the c2c method again.
Thank you. Your tutorials are so precise and clear. Corner to corner with this stitch will be my next blanket - thanks to you and your blanket is beautiful.
This is a lovely tutorial! Thank you so much. I fell in love with your blanket on Instagram and though I'm mostly sewing and knitting and haven't done a real crochet project in ages, I think this will be my way to use up my fingering scraps. So pretty😊
Thank you for this lovely pattern.❤ Im half way through mine. The first few decrease rows. Ive made a few blankets with intricate patterns so really enjoying not having to think lol. Apart from which colour I want to use next. I think its my favourite.
Thanks for a great tutorial Emma! It was really clear. I've just started one as I've been watching and I'm loving it so far! Will have to come back and watch the last bit again when I get to half way! 😆
New to your channel. Really enjoy your style and technique. May I suggest using a blue or charcoal mat as your background? The white fur carpet makes it a bit of a challenge to see your stitches when using pastel color yarn. Respectfully
Your blanket is lovely and the pattern is easy enough. I would like to ask about the edges of both ends. I noticed they look different from each other. Could you tell us how you addressed tying off the loose ends and if when done, the two edges look the same? Thank you!
Thank you so much 😊 The side where you change colour will look a bit looser, but once you’ve sewn the ends in it will sort it out. I just sew them in as I would any ends ☺️
Such a clear tutorial! If I wanted to make this blanket rectangular rather than square, I know that I would first need to increase as per your tutorial until I got to the width I want. To then work straight to create the rectangle shape would I need to continue increasing on one side but decrease on the other? I've been trying to figure it out but my brain just keeps giving in! I'm starting this lovely blanket today with my advent leftovers.
Thank you lovely! Yes you’re right - once you’re at the size you want just increase on one side only. Could have a practise by making a mini rectangle first ☺️
@@emmacmakes I'll give it a go, thank you. I've made a start with my leftovers from the Beehive Yarns advent and I love it already! I thought perhaps I could add all my leftovers to it throughout the year.
so beautiful blanket! what yard do you use for the blanket that you show in the beginning? The colours are beutiful! are you usig single colours yarn or multicolour yarn or do you mix?
Would it be possible to make a cardigan with fingerling or sock yarn and this stitch. Is there such a pattern for a classic straight cardigan. I just came back to crochet and knitting and for some reason crochet comes easier to me but I like the small close stitches of knitting. Thank you.
Thanks so much Emma - this is a fantastic tutorial. I am hoping to do one of these - but have a question (a general scrap yarn crochet question..).. does it matter if some of my yarn is acrylic, some cotton, some combination of both... if it's of the same weight, does the composition of the yarn make a difference? I have a lot of acrylic, but also some really lovely small left overs of cotton and the colours would go so well! But when I wash the blanket - will the cotton parts wash differently and change shape or anything?? Long question, sorry, but thank you also!
Thank you! 🥰 Personally I would be happy to combine different yarns as long as they were the same weight; for me that’s one of the plus points of scrappy blankets ☺️ As long as you are careful with it (handwash, dry flat etc) it will be fine I think ☺️
I’m just over halfway with mine which measures roughly one metre across - popped it on the scales and it’s 380g atm so you would need just under double that.
