So glad you're enjoying the borders! My heart keeps going back to Little Ridges, but Camel stitch gives it a run for its money! Here's a link to my steamer - amzn.to/2WbakcI
I FINALLY understand why all my attempts at learning to make a picot looked wrong. It was so helpful how you showed exactly which loops to slip stitch through!
I was just looking for a border for a baby blanket I just finished. And here it was! You are so talented, Toni, and I love the way you explain things and make it easy to follow. Thanks!
I just bought myself a set of crotchet hooks after watching you. I was learning to crotchet because I had numbness in the fingers. It has helped alot. Am from the academy and am eager to get into this full time.
THANK YOU FOR BEING THE ONLY ONE TO MAKE SLIPKNOTS LOGICALLY!! 😂 That's exactly how I do them and had yet to see anyone else do it that way so I thought I was wrong. Lol everyone is like "let me find a more ridiculous way to tie this on my hook than the previous guys 10 step loop" 😂 I appreciate you so much! You're also really good at giving directions in a way that's direct and to the point but still detailed 👌🏻
So happy I found your channel❣️ I love all of your borders & plan on trying them all soon but I think my favorite is the camel stitch one. We appreciate all your hard work making these tutorials for us & we thank you so much for keeping them free❣️🤗 Many of us are retired & elderly or disabled & living on a very small monthly budget. Blessings to all❣️🙏🏼🦋
You're the best at explaining & demonstrating various crochet techniques! I can’t thank you enough. I'm more of a visual learner & you have a special gift at teaching. Thank you so very much. L
Some people say you always need a round of single crochet before starting your border, but it looked like you did some without. How do you decide if it's needed or not? It would be nice to not always have to do one!
I know this reply is well after the fact of your post, but since you didn’t receive an answer, I thought I’d chime in. Her example has actual stitches around her square/project, but sometimes you’ll do a project where the stitches on a border are actually the sides of stitches - not stitches with a clear V to work into. When the edge you’re working is a chain 3 or a standing stitch, or the side (horizontal view) of a dc/hdc/tc, the side is less defined because there is not a top V to work, so to make the border consistent, you would evenly space a round of single crochet then work your border. I hope that makes some sense, but that is the logic behind the additional round.
😅Love these borders, Toni, and can’t wait to try them (I’m a self-taught newbie), thank you so much for all you’re putting out there on RU-vid. BTW, can you recommend a clothes steamer that works well for blocking? Which one to you use, there are so many out there! Thanks again. Sherry
You are a wonderful teacher and your voice was easy soothing and easy to follow. I showed my daughter your video because I'm having trouble teaching her how to crochet and bingo! She got it!!! Bless you 😊
I'm planning on using the Camel Stitch to outline the border of a long knit cardigan I'm working on. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out, but I think it's the perfect stitch to add a unique bit of simple design.
I love all of them, but the last one just gives me the happiest feelings. I think I would chain a bit more, though, so they can be loopier.. I'd love to make my daughter a blankie with that border.
Borders add so much to a project, especially blankets. Thanks so much for sharing these. Three of these are new to me and I will definitely try these. I also like the idea of using these as a border/hem on a top.
29:50 ahhh! I love that tip to pull down the outer row of the camel stitch border! I’ve used the border before but the way that outer row sat always bothered me!
I started crocheting at the start of COVID and you were the first RU-vidr I found. I always come back to your videos/posts for new ideas or brushing up on the basics. You are a great teacher and I just love your passion for crochet. Will always be a fan of yours Toni 😊
Thank you! I've been a knitter for the last 300 years and I am always looking for different edgings for my garments You have given me some terrific options and ideas. Watching you is always time well spent.
Beautifully Done… They all have their place in the crochet world so choosing a favorite would imo be a disservice to the craft & the time & the individual skill set needed to create these masterpieces…they are truly a work of art. Thank you…
Thank you Toni. I've always struggled with finishing my work. This video is exactly what I been needing. You are amazing. I've been using the classic shell stitch and not too pleased with the end results. Any of these borders. will take my projects to a new level of quality and professionalism. Have a coffee on me!
Wow! These borders are just beautiful! I would love to try them on my projects. So excited about crocheting. I’m a new crocheter who loves yarn and knitting! Just seems like a natural thing to do 😊
Love your videos so much! I'm thrilled at some new border options and SO appreciate that you blocked the ones that needed it on camera! It's so satisfying to see the difference and there's no better illustration than the gorgeous blocked end product. Thank you for all you do!
Thank you for showing these borders. I'm almost finished with a blanket and was looking for a nice border. There are four colors, purple, lavender, variegated purple to a pink, and white. I feel the linen stitch would be great to bring out the colors of the blanket. I've used a puff stitch, cross stitch, single crochets, and half doubles. Do you agree or would it be better to go with a more simpler border. I would appreciate your advise. Thank you
You are a great teacher. I love all the borders. I mostly crochet wash rags and think the half double slip stitch old make a nice border for them. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I found this video just in time! The 3rd border looks great on my Tunisian simple stitch baby blanket (also learned from you.) Many thanks for all your great videos!
I cannot thank you enough! Your instructions are clear, concise, thorough and you make them easy enough for anyone to comprehend and be confident to finish our own!! Thank you, Toni!
Love borders, and have made so many of my own, wanted to see what you do and pick up tips from you🎉😂❤ ( my OCD 😢 wants a picot in the corners too) oh but standing SC, where have you been all my life😂 and ADMIRE our work..hee hee😂😂😂😊 wait... what...wait..standing half double ??? Be still my ❤
These are so cute!! Thank you! Just found your channel and subscribed. I have a question, hope it doesn’t sound dumb, but is there a border stitch that looks cloud like on another scale then the little ridges one? I’m making a baby blanket with rainbow striped yarn, I’m just doing a simple single crochet blanket all the way through so it holds up as the child grows. Was thinking for contrast (and to detract from the couple rows I realized at the end of the blanket are off stitch a little 🫣🤣) that a fun white or even off white border that kind of looked like little clouds framing it might be a fun addition to this rainbow blanket for this sweet rainbow baby coming to a dear friend. Any advice? 🌈😎 again LOVE your channel it’s so helpful!!
WOW...Tonny so beautifulll and well demonstrated.... for de border's... but what is the instrument that you use ... to block... please and were did you by it??? thank soooo much
Thank you ! Very clear explanations and it is really lovely ! Which one do I prefer ? I love them all, these borders are so pretty. From Paris with love. 14 nov.2023
Hi Tony, I am currently knitting a mitre blanket (The Last Homely House with Kate) I was wondering if there is a simple way of adding a crochet border to a knitted blanket ? Any help you could give me would be appreciated, thank you Sam from England, UK
These are awesome borders! Do you have any recommendations for borders that will help curling Tunisian crochet projects that are too big to block stay flat? I'm working on my first big project, a big prayer afgan using the simple stich, and it's curling like crazy. Also I'm making it for a big dude so I'm good making it bigger
I knitted a star-shaped blanket but the reverse single crochet edging they suggested in the pattern really wasn't my vibe. The tied loops border shown here is exactly what I wanted! I love how clear and concise your videos are
Love these borders❤ , but do you have video on how to single crochet around blanket before adding border please. Have finished my first ever large blanket , it's a gift for my friends 60th, so want to get it perfect!! Thank you 😊
Your crochet is flawless. I love that blanket. I started using a HDC instead of a SC on borders to get rid of that “leggy” look that you get on the back.
Could the camel stitch border be used to finish off a garter stitch blanket?? I knit my first ever temperature blaket in 2023 but my edges are wonky and I'm trying to hide them with a crotchet border . Would the camel stitch be a border I could add? Is there a better stitch for adding to a knit project?
I wanted a different border for my SIL's blanket. I think I'll try the tied loop border at the ends of the blanket only. I'll put a plain border on the sides. I thought of tassels but wasn't sold on them. This border might be the one. Thank you for the choices.
I like the picot border but I'm not finding it to be easy at all. I crochet with a 'pencil hold' on the hook and pulling the yarn throught that last loop @4:17 is hard every time, even if I make a big loop when I chain. Does anyone have suggestions?
I am creating my very first pattern and for one row of a granny square, I use your Little Ridges border. Do I credit you for that and how would I do that? In the actual pattern itself or when I post the listing? I love all of your videos, thank you for so much clear and great information!
Toni, what brand steam iron did you use? It look like you were able to get very close to your crochet item. Thank you for the wonderful border ideas. I love them all. I also purchased your book and learned to Tunisian crochet from you.
Hi~ I love the way you picked up that extra stitch at the bottom and then you brought it up an attached it to the top. It’s a really cool way to keep the picot stitch much tighter and looks much neater & pretty. I’ve already used the picot stitch one length of a headband, that I’m working on. I can’t thank you enough. There is a special way to end at the corner without going around that seals the picot stitch at the corner. I saw it when started learning how to do this stitch, but I haven’t been able to find it since. Do you have a video tutorial about how to do that? Thank you much! 😊
I have watched your show all the time, thank you for those great ideas. Where to buy the steam hand press and also that portable blocker; please? Peace and blessings from Canada
I loved the Camel Stitch Border, but had a hard time closing the rows with the slip stitch to the standing double crochet and my corners did not look took pretty. Do you have another video where this is explained? I am still in the beginner level.
If I want to add a border along the sides of double crochets (like along the brim of a beanie/no clear and nice stitches like the top of a double crochet), what do you suggest I do? I struggle knowing where to put my hook and where to continue my stitches
These are really lovely. Love the picot. May I ask, have you done any videos on color pooling? I have watched fifteen and still can't seem to grasp it. Your teaching abilities are my last hope. I've learned so much from you. Thank you so much!
