Here are official directions on how to single crochet stitch
1. Insert the hook into the work (second chain from hook on the foundation chain), yarn over and draw yarn through the work only.
2. Yarn over again and pull the yarn through both loops on the hook.
3. One single crochet made. Insert hook into next stitch; repeat from * in step 1.

Thanks Kristen! This is the first time that I've tuned in to your tutorials but I've really enjoyed the fact that you take things so slowly. At almost 72 years old, my mind probably isn't as keen as when I was younger so it helps to have such a patient teacher. I put my yarn aside for quite some time because I became frustrated but I'm determined to learn to crochet! Thanks again! Be blessed!

I cannot love this video enough!! I've been trying to learn to crochet for years and I always stop at the end of the chain because I can never see properly how to do the first stitch! Like ever!! You have used such perfect colour to show how to do it and no music in the background and so close to the camera that I can actually see everything sooo well!! Thank you so much for this. I sat down today to figure out how to crochet and even after watching a few videos and following a book, my stitches were looking like the garter stitch.
