How To Crochet Reversible Feathers

the bottom part of a bird's feather is actually called a quill. That's the part that sticks in the bird, just so you know.

Very cute and used as a keychain, clipped to zipper for easy open, etc....

Thank you, I just love it. You can also make it different colors of green and call it a leaf. I put one by a house plant with large leaves and it would have looked just like a leaf if it was green.

New subbie here! The spiny 'stem' of the feather is called the 'calamus', aka the quill. The part that runs through the feather is called the 'rachis''. Ornothologist for a father lol. x

Lovely kittycats are bound to "steal your Thunder", you know a Cat doesn't have a Boss, but has "servants" , right ! I had one very similar to your Hazel, they told me only female cats can have these colours, by the way. My daughter gave her a rather "snotty" name, Chanel. But, unfortunately, we had to take her to the vets when she had just turned one ! She apparently had lots that was genetically wrong because of the fact that her "mum" gave birth at a too young age. She had to go to sleep. She was so cute though, I so miss having a Cat around, I told you before. But hey, I can crochet feathers now, so that 'll take my mind of things for a while .... Thanks for this tutorial Holly. I saw a crocheted Peacock feathers on Pinterest, of course withou patter. But they were right up your alley, bright vibrant colours ! Just saying ... I found that adding a stitch marker at the beginning helps to show the back loop of that last silly stitch.

Hey Holly, I love these feathers! I have what might be a silly question for you. I am making a baby blanket for my friend and am wanting to make these feathers and put them onto the corner of the blanket but I am not entirely sure how to go about doing something like that. I am not sure if they would just be sewn on and if that is the case am not sure if there is a certain way you might advise me to try and sew then on. I am relatively new to crocheting. I have made a few baby blankets and scarves but it is always just a simple pattern throughout the blanket and I have never tried to put anything onto the blanket once it is done. Any help you have would be much appreciated!! Thanks! Lindsey
