I just made one, and am almost done on the second. I also used 2 regular strands. They look rather huge, but feel great! UPDATE: I finished them, but not sure what I did! One has a lump at the front of the ankle! They are a bit different in size in the shell part. Do yours look quite huge? I'll go back and try again later!

Can't wait to make for my daughter for Christmas. I think I'll use the Bernat velvet blanket yarn or equivalent to the Lion Brand yarn you are using. I used the exact yarn (and color) you are using for a cowl a few yrs ago and I found the yarn pills. Great vid, easy to follow. I watched and wrote pattern down. I have a book I write down patterns, sizing, yarn color, who I made it for etc. I can make check marks to indicate completed rounds also.

This is a great video and I love the socks! I was a little dissappointed though because i was unable to finish my socks with 3 skeins of the wool yarn you listed in the materials on the website. I need to go buy another skein, and i hope theg have another of the same color left.

I used a 4 worsted and the 20 stitches where way too tight for my foot but I just increased in the next rounds and I guess it came pretty well

Love, love, love this pattern. They work up so fast because the yarn is thick. I had a few skeins of hudson bay in my stash so this was perfect. My 15 year old is trying to claim them but since they work up so fast, I'll just make her a pair. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial!

Good, clear pattern.....except the heel part........I finished a sock, after adding more rows (measured as I understood, as I wear a size 9).....they were much too big, and I had to frog all the way down to the main foot part. Clear explanation of the various stitches though!

Future note to myself as I found it too tight on the first try with my chunky yarn and not that stretchy (I wear a Size EU 39/US 6.5): Start with 12 instead of 10 in the magic ring. For my foot, I needed 13 rows. At 25:25 I had 6 instead of 5 on each side to do one double front crochet on and then 2 to do the two in each. So you will do 2 with two in each, then 7 with one in each, then 6 with two in each then 7 with one in each then 2 with two in each.

In this video (between minutes 10-11) you indicate that the length (from toe to heel) is both in front of and at the end of the heel. So I find myself confused. Should I stop as the arch of my foot ends towards the heel and work on the double posts there, or should I bring the length to the heel right before the back of the foot curves up?

I was confused too but then as I watched it further, and one more time, I see she meant just before the heel (bottom of foot) begins, as in after the arch. So try on there. You can see the increase cradles the heel (bottom). Then further in video mentions the end of heel when describing the shaping of the back of the foot as you shape the heel up. Hope that makes sense. At least that's what I think. 😊

Using a 4 worsted weight you won't get same sizing. If you are a beginner I wouldn't use 2 strands of yarn together (as 2 strands of 4 weight = bulky) because it might get confusing. I'd buy the correct yarn weight.

I have the exact same problem Joyce. Got as far as 2 rows of the shells and cannot squeeze my foot in without major effort and even then the heel sits in a very uncomfortable place. Seems to be something missing to get the sock to sit right. So sad as they look so cozy!

Could you please indicate the yarn weight & hook size please! Looks like a bulky weight yarn & I am going to try a "K" hook. I will have to experiment on how many rounds to do because I wear a size 12 shoe(I am 6' tall). Would be helpful if you gave instructions for 2 or 3 different sizes to reach a wider audience.

There's a chance your gauge doesn't match the pattern. If you count more stitches per inch than the gauge, they'll turn out smaller than expected. If that's the case, you can go up a hook size to see if that helps.

Make fewer rounds for a smaller shoe size or more rounds for a larger shoe size. Try it on as you go for the perfect fit. Stop when it has reached the base of your heel.

Pattern and video were very easy to follow, but in order to make them fit a size 8 foot because they are so narrow I could not get my foot in without extreme effort (I do not have a wide foot). Really disappointed as I am making these for a Christmas gift and have gotten as far as the shell leg shaping and just put them on and they are way too tight and the heel sits in a very weird spot and feels very uncomfortable. If you have any width to your foot, with this yarn and pattern, you will not get your foot in these at all. So sad about the time and yarn as I was really excited with the way they were working up and how easy and pretty they were looking. :(

Did anyone else have a sort of ring/ ribbed effect like its a very pronounced shape like almost a basket I dunno how to describe - the pictures show a smooth sock-like thing so I'm wondering if I messed up : I'd say I'm an intermediate crocheter and I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions - will try to post a pic

You can try adding more stitches to the round. It'll make the tube wider. However, the yarn will generally stretch

Pea Ess-Sea every skein of yarn has that info printed on the band. They vary with every type due to weights etc. Hope that helps

@@juliebradhenhello, it doesn't really help, sorry, but thank you for trying. I have been looking at the brand mentioned. Some skeins are 97m and some are 80m. I don't want to fall short. I guess I can buy the one with more length. :). Problem solved. Sometimes the particular color of yarn gets sold out. So I wanted to buy all that was needed.
