In this video tutorial I teach you how to make a fun slouchy boho type of hat called the Metropolitan Ave Hat. It's a free pattern offered by Lion Brand Yarns. It's great for a confident crochet beginner and I walk you through every step in this video.
The yarn I used is called Unique by Lion Brand and it is awesome to work with! It's variegated and does all the work for you. You only need one skein to complete this project and the first one I made only took me about 1.5 hours. Great project for yourself or to give as a gift.

Hi Vanessa! I just finished my beautiful hat! I could not find in PR the yarn you used so instead I bought Hometown in Chicago Charcoal color. It was a heavier yarn so I had to do some modifications but it was a great practice for me. I will be visiting my sister in Orlando for new year's and decided to give it a try. My next one will be the cowl. Thanks four your great tutorials. Always a fan!

I have made five of these hats now & plan to make more. Thanks so much for the excellent instruction. I'm hoping for many happy friends and family this Christmas. Our local stores do not have the Unique Yarn. I've been using Charisma. Sometimes I have to use only eight rows for the body or I run out of yarn. I'm not sure if my stitches are too large or if it's because the Charisma yarn is a little different than the Unique.

I like this hat but I think I would use a smaller hook for the decreases, it would make the top look a little neater.

GREAT hat... I got the Lion Brand but the Landscapes by mistake. Seems like a good choice. I get confused when turning in the beginning, you skip the first stitch then how many do you actually crochet?... 7 or 8 before you slip stitch and turn the work? Thanks....

Ok, I figured it out. Hat is not great but it still looks like a hat. I need to practice the stitches, use less than 19 ". I will add some dark brown elastic thread to keep it loose but with a slight fit to the head. Happy with the finished product. Thanks Crafty Gemini

What is that very obvious line going up the back of your hat? I’m new to crochet and don’t want that on my hat. Is there any other way of eliminating that? Thank you. 🤗
