You can slow the video down. On a phone or tablet: tap the 3 dots up in the right hand corner, then tap "playback speed", then select 0.25x (quarter speed) 0.5x (half speed) or 0.75 (three-quarters speed). On a laptop or PC you can change it by clicking on the settings (cog wheel) icon which sits at the bottom right hand side. Of course, the sound track will be slowed down too but the video is perfectly clear. Hope this is helpful.

Hi! I understand the tutorials in full, and in practice, when you do it I end up with a large stripe. When doing the first round (with only the upper top being green and letting the bellow "half-of-the"sc purple = complete sc) you are adding an "half"-sc in purple and the top in green - that results in the bottom always being higher. I don't know if you can understand what I'm saying. When doing the comparison..imagine you have 3 rows of one color, and 3 rows of another.... making this method in changing color, you will be adding another row to the first color, since changing will give a little of the first color (bottom part of the sc) and then a little bit of the last color.
@Anna_handcrafts
@Anna_handcrafts 4 года назад
I understand what you said and I noticed that too. I still think it's worth doing the half color change because the cut is so much neater. I just accepted to have rows of one of the color a bit "thicker"

I have a pattern that changes colour half way ( rounds 1-15 blue, 16-30 yellow). Noticed when I finished my last round of blue and then did the half colour change for round 16 that I had too much blue. So if you’re trying to make as close to exact halves as you can, do the half colour change on the last round of your first colour ( for me that would be 15, not 16)

Best way is just to remember at the end of the Rnd that you single crocheted into the slip stitch in the beginning of the Rnd, and then skip that slip stitch and work into the first stitch you made instead.

Does the round with the half color counts as a row? Or is to be considered as a in between base line of the new color? I tried the technique, love it for it’s results but if I count it as an in between the stripes get bigger then in the old fashioned way.

Hello. How to do this with increase?
@BadBiscuts
@BadBiscuts 4 года назад
QUESTION: The half color switch counts as a round or no? I have a pattern I am following and it says to "SC around (the main color) then switch to the next color and SC around again" does that mean I use the the half color switch around and that counts as a the "SC" or do I have go back around after the half color switch and do the "SC" as the pattern says. I hope this made sense. If anyone can help me that would be great! BTW if anyone was curious I am doing a Corsola pattern I found on Etsy super adorable but I am just a beginner and am still learning.

The half color change is the same round. So just just replace the round prior to when the pattern says to change colors with the half-color change. stitches.

I don't understand why I'm getting more stitches than when I start. Can I have some tips or an explanation please?
@ClubCrochet

It's likely that you are crocheting into the beginning slip stitch that you made prior to chaining 1 and crocheting into the same stitch. When you have finished your perfect stripe round skip the slip stitch and work straight into the first sc you made. Hope that helps!

hi im new to crochet! when you do the no cut join, does the slip stitch and chain count as 2 separate stitches from the normal sc count? for instance if I had 18 stitches would it be a slipstitch, chain, and then 16 stitches? or would the 18 stitches start after the color change?
@dlh975

Why does the no cut join make you want to create extra stitches (it happened to me too) - you kind of have to jump what looks like two stitches to bring it all back together. Trying to understand the mechanics of it.

Just like another commenter, I TOO was crocheting a chubby bee as a baby shower gift and I wish I saw this video because it came out looking weird on its belly where the seam was. Then after I gifted the bee, the pre-existing toddler older brother found the bee and claimed it as his own. 🤣 He sleeps with it and everything, its adorable. So NOW I am crocheting a SECOND, slightly smaller bee for the baby. I'm done with all of the color changes already, but due to my laziness I kind of discovered the no yarn change method. But it still looks a little janky because I've never before heard of half color changes. I work in a school and the bee is VERY POPULAR. So it seems as if I have quite a few requests for more bees 😂 I'm so happy to have found this video because it will improve all of my future bees! THANKS! Btw I made an account on crochet pals but I still cant download the pdf.

WAIT! You didn’t show us how to deal with the “hole” in the first method! My thought is that one would take the same color yarn as the yarn surrounding the hole and stitch into the hole with it to “hide” the hole. Not a great explanation, I know. I do that with my work when the stitches are loose, as well, disguising the holes with yarn woven into the spaces between the stitches. By the way, while I, too, am “lazy”, I prefer the second method and will likely use that one for amigurumi color changes. Great video! Thanks.

After finishing my first round with the new colour I always find myself with two more stitches compared to the previous round, is it normal or am I doing something wrong? Am I correct in thinking that for the half colour change, the slip stitch at the start adds one stitch to the round, but the slip stitch at the end of the round takes that away again, resulting in a round with the same number as the previous round? I'm new to crochet and I'd like to try this out but want to plan ahead with my numbers of stitches. xD

Why don't they teach stuff like this at school... instead of leaving people like me frustrated by ugly color changes ;D Thanks for a very easy-to-follow tutorial, I'm definitely going to give this a try.

hii, I have a question. When I do a slip stitch and a chain it adds more stitches to my row. How do you deal with that? (I hope I made myself understood, English is not my first language 😅)

You have to skip the slip stitch when you come back around and work into the first single crochet that you make. If you don't skip the slip stitch you will accidentally add an extra stitch after each Rnd!

For the no-cut method, when you join together the beginning and end of the new color and chain 1, does that count as one of the stitches? My new color was SC1, Inc 1 all around for a total of 15 in the round, then SC1 the next round (15 stitches), but now my new round has extra stitches

No the ch1doesnt count as a stitch, your first sc goes into the same stitch you slst into. At the end of the round, remember to skip the slst, if you doon't you'll have an extra stitch

Trying to translate into "my brain"... Around 3:40, when you say the top of the stitch is the new color, you mean that when you're partway through the single crochet stitch, with 3 loops on the hook, the old color is in the middle between 2 of the new color. I think?

Thank you!!! I really appreciate the no cut technique. I am hoping to make a character from an anime, danganronpa. monokuma, a teddy bear which is half white and white black, split right in the middle!

Oh yah!! I know that character!! You totally can, you just might need to make your piece sideways / more of an oval pill shape. This is awesome! I can't wait to see!!

I really appreciate your video, but I was wondering if I have to twist the threads every time or if I could twist only for increase... What is the reason for making the twist?

The thing I do not understand is if I use the one where the top of the stitch is the new color and the bottom is the one, dose that count at a stitch? For example if the pattern says to change color and do 3 rounds of color B does that could as one of the three rounds?
@ClubCrochet
@ClubCrochet 3 года назад
It's more of a preperation for color changes, so in your example, the Rnd before you do the 3 rounds should be the half color changes, and the last round of your 3, would be another half color change round to go back to the other color and make a perfect stripe. Hope that makes sense!

@@ClubCrochet so it would not count at all

Chain stitches! Why does it seem so obvious in hindsight? Chain to go up instead of keeping the spiral. The half color change is also brilliant.

Haha thanks! I've been using half color changes for a long time figuring out the best ways to use them. I made a video explaining color changes in depth here if you want to learn more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tzw51YofHFw.html
