How troubleshoot no Fiber Link by cross over Fiber optic cables. This was done on Cisco gear but is the same for other vendors. This will fix issues when the transmit of one port is connected to the transmit of the other port on point-to-point link.

So a cross over is needed if the gbics or sfp transceivers have opposite polarities?

do you really have to detach it from the holding bracket?

if there is a holding bracket, yes. only have to do it on one end.

Yup, once you know it seems obvious. Total facepalm on my part. I've swapped the fibers in a patch panel before because I didn't know this, but I kept looking because it seemed like there needed to be an easier way. Here it is, glad I found it.
