This was so cool! What’s a good range of photos to use to create this? Also did you have to adjust the individual photo time because I notice that in Premiere that it defaults to 4s per image. Thanks!
@skylerburtphotos
@skylerburtphotos 5 лет назад
Well 24 FPS a 10 second clip would be 240 images but I like mine to be around 12 FPS so you get a more choppy feel. And yes you need to adjust the default frame time in Premiere, I forgot about that. But you just have to do that once then you’re set.

Great video! I'm curious to know, how are you keeping the exposure consistent between all frames? Is it just the quality of the lights being used? When I do time lapses like these, I find that my flashes don't output evenly every time which leads to subtle jumps in exposure throughout the frames.
@skylerburtphotos
@skylerburtphotos 5 лет назад
Could be quality of the lights, I haven’t noticed any exposure shift. Could also be your lens. You could do a test and shoot with a constant light vs your strobe/flash using the same aperture and see if the flicker appeared in both or just one. If it appears when using a constant light (assuming voltage is consistent) then it could be the aperture in your lens not resetting to the exact same spot with each shutter click.

Really enjoyed this Time Lapse video but I did have one question about how you accomplished one thing that you never covered. I am assuming that this was done will a collection of stills and not clips from a continuous video. And that is how did you trip the camera when both your hands were in the photos while holding food? Couldn't figure that out, that is unless you had an assistant to trip the camera. I was stymied by that one. Thanks for a fun and well done and informative video. JRS

I know you shoot RAW and you probably lock in exposure and focus but on overhead shots, do you stand on a ladder and then adjust the camera settings (i.e. before you start taking pictures)? Or, do you set up the camera via some type of remote control app/program from your laptop or phone that allows you to control your camera? Thanks.

@SalvadorCalaf

Hi, I've noticed your Rotalux in the background, I have an Octabox, I wonder if have you been able to use it with a LED light? Elinchrom only produces speedrings for traditional strobe brands. Perhaps the heat, although low, may affect the material with which it is made? Great Video BTW :)
@skylerburtphotos
@skylerburtphotos 5 лет назад
not sure, there is really no heat produced with the LED's I use (the fan keeps it pretty cool) the modeling light of the Elinchrom is much hotter, so probably not a heat issue, more of a mount issue
@SalvadorCalaf
@SalvadorCalaf 5 лет назад
@@skylerburtphotos I got some good news from Aputure, Hensel and Broncolor. According to them is not a problem at all to use a photographic modifier for video, the heat will not affect it. As you well said, it's just a matter of finding the right Speedring. Apart from the Aputure 120D II and 300D, Hensel and Broncolor have started to produce LED lights that allow the use of diffusers, specifically Hensel Intra LED and Broncolor LED 160. As regards the Speedrings, Aputure uses Bowens S-mount, and Hensel and Broncolor their proprietary. If you own Elinchrom, it produces Speedring for all of them. Look like the future is brighter!

But how did you time the shots? Surely the easy bit is doing a timelapse and editing it - the difficult part is choosing how you want the movement to occur within the frame while rolling, chopping, dressing and prepping the dish, all while keeping the motion consistent. I thought it couldn't be an interverlometre because of the complexity of waiting, dressing the board and then getting your hands out in time before the shutter closes - but I also don't see you operating the camera, so I guess it's just mad skills?

Thanks again for the video. I really enjoy your work. So I’ve been testing this out. And I’ve ran into the same issue as some of the others. It’s a bit choppy. So looking at your image count you have about 170+ images. And in your case you had to slow things down were in m case I have to speed up the video. How far are you moving the object between images? Very small moments I would guess? For example, if I was moving the object 12 inches into the frame, would I take 12 pictures, one per inch? Or 24 pictures, two per inch? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
@skylerburtphotos
@skylerburtphotos 5 лет назад
This really wasn’t a stop motion tutorial, I’m not an expert in that, but I didn’t “have” to slow things down that’s just personal preference I like it a bit more choppy than 24fps. But yeah if you want it really smooth add more movements. The more you add the smoother it will be. It’s up to you the speed. The simple solution would be to ask yourself “how long does it take for this object to get from point A to point B” if it’s 1 second then plan out 24 movements if 2 seconds then 48. If you want it choppy 10-12 moves. You could also give the effect of the object speeding up and slowing down by changing the amount of frames taken during the move. Less frames at the beginning of the move and more at the end for example
@Vegasmethod
@Vegasmethod 5 лет назад
