This video helped...I had an algae problem...read through list and none applied..or so I thought...I had changed my ro/di filters a month ago...and went about my Buisness...well turns out my unit wasn't filtering properly...lesson learned...test and retest...had I tested water after changing filters, instead of assuming all was good...I would have saved so many water changes, along with many other unnecessary things...thanks for listening...made me rethink things

I’ve watch a ton of these. I think you way have solved my issue with this one. I bought used rock about 8 months ago. Set up my tank with it. Ever since I’ve been at war with the algae. Question is what do I do now? I got coral frags glued all over the rock.

Dont corals grow faster feeding more than once evry 2 weeks? I am starting to wonder if my algae is from trying to up nitrates that were 2 and phospates one. I started feeding daily, either with oyster feast, reefroids or chili, and reef energy amino acids. It did start to come on after nopox and water changes. It looks like diatoms. I did read that 0 phosphates can cause dino's but dosnt look stringy or weblike. It is brownish green but on the walls has some red in it and bubles attached to some areas on walls. I have some patches of flowing algae like GHA and I just noticed how much darker my rocks have gotten. I cleaned some with peroxide and they look better but ran out. Been dosing vibrant and mb7 but I read that lowers nitrates and phos as well! Also dosing neophos. I think I wll either dose nitrates or leave them alone. They are at 3 now. I a m going to just keep up this rountine and vacum sandbed through a filter sock. I dont know if I should tackle this hard incase it is dinos or just treat as diatoms since that is what it look's like but I know the conditions are right for it and just starting getting bad after WC! I cant seem to dial in my 2 part since alk is dropping so inconsistently and that's why I continue doing water changes.

Does wet skinning mean that it bubbles up over the walls at a faster rate as opposed to it just kind of trickling over slowly?

What would you do in my situation? My tank is 30 gallons and is a year and a half old. I have 5 small fish. I feed daily but not too much. Barely feed the coral once a month. I use gfo for phosphates when they get .1 my nitrates are 20-50. Haven’t been able to get them lower. I have all HOB equipment including a Algae scrubber from Santa Monica filtration. I started getting diatoms after adding daily phytoplankton for the copepods for the ruby red dragonets. They died so no more phyto for the last month. I tried a 3 day blackout to no avail. 2 days ago added Chemiclean because I thought I might be battling Brown cyano. This hasn’t worked so far. My tds is 0. I do weekly water changes and wet skim. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks for all you do

I have a 13 fluval tank a the skimmer that gos with it 16 lbs of live rock all my levels a good it about 3 months old i get algae change 2 gals of water every two week feed small amount of food one's a day and only two small fish

Travis I am currently battling some hair algae, and I probably over feed. I have a med yellow tang, Flame Angel and two small Ocellaris Clowns. I feed one cube daily or dry food or a nori strip. should I feed every other day or even less? my concern is the yellow wont get enough food. Thanks from an old Jar Head.

Thank you for this video, What I don't know is how much, blue, uv, cool blue, cool white etc. lights I should set my Aquaillumination Prime HD, I used to have led lights that no need to control each lights. Lights is the one I don't really know. I have Red Sea reefer 350 with soft corals, sps, Mushrooms, and anemone, I set my blues, purple, uv lights high and white high, the green and yellow low. My coral do far are ok, but I want to know if I am doing it right. Ty

are the freshwater mollies nipping at the algae all the time ? I was going to put a couple in my tank .I wanted to avoid large tangs in a 120 gallon. The Rottertube guy has some new videos on his algae battle, he has many tangs and a foxface, he says none of them touch his hair algae.With tangs ,sometimes they will go to town on algae and sometimes they ignore it

Is nuisance algae ok? Like will it cause parameter swings? I've heard it grows by consuming phosphates and stuff.

Just lost my royal gramma in QT - pretty mad, I was in a hurry to get the fish before the store closed so I didn't have time to actually look at the fish. My fault, but I'm pretty mad. Cloudy eyes, hole in head, and messed up scales. Think I can get my money back?

Nopox is easier. Plus feeding nitrate-rich foods vs phosphate. Good ideals, but pretty old methods.

Poor circulation also causes algae.

Bare bottoms are not attractive with reefs, imo.
