Thank you for the Video. Would you use this feature customize visibility of components for various groups of users or would you use an App for each group and then create multiple home page layouts.? Let's say you have 6 groups.

Hi Jose, thanks for commenting! I would create multiple home pages if they're going to be significantly different for the the 6 groups. If they have different roles and their Salesforce should show different tabs, I would make multiple Apps. If they all need access to the same tabs, I would assign home pages based on profile. It really comes down to what's going to be easier for you to maintain when there are inevitable changes in the future.

@@Rotive Thank you so much for your suggestion. That seems a very good approach.

Do you have any suggestions for customizing for my 20+ users, so they can se charts specific to them, without having to add 20+ components and use conditional visiblity? Will make for a very messy back end..

you can create a single report/chart which is filtered by "my opportunities" or whatever object, and then put that component on the home page.

Jordan's answer is a good one. I would try to not have to create 20+ different dashboards. Using the My Opportunities filter in the underlying report is a great solution for this, though it breaks down if the user doesn't own the record. Another approach is to create different Apps in Salesforce for different departments: Sales, Service, Leadership, etc. And you can assign a different dashboard to each one of those and have your users use the appropriate app for them or hide the other apps from them.

Hi Shradda, I don't believe there is any way to make specific components conditionally visible in Classic. Lightning has a much more flexible UI in that way.

How can i make s dashboard the default page the user sees as soon as user logs in

Hey Eashwer, I had to do some googling on this one. Looks like there isn't a lightning feature that lets you direct users to a specific page, though there are some workarounds. You can create a custom object tab or set the default tab in classic. Check out this article: help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000380963&type=1

Your video title is misleading. The title is "How to Customize the Salesforce Home page for one user". Your video is how to customize an object on the home page for one user. I recommend to change the title of your video as watching it wasted 3 minutes of my time.

Hi Theron21, thank you for the comment. I can see your point. Perhaps, "how to customize a component on the homepage for one user" would be clearer. If you're looking to have entirely different homepages for different users, click the activate button in the upper right of the lightning page editor. There you can assign that home page to different profiles. Assignment based on profile and app is the most detailed you can get.
