I need to disagree with your original premise that a period correct custom would reflect the manufacture date. I have built several period correct customs based on the era they would gave been customized. In the fifties people were customizing cars from the 30's and 40's. Not to many people were rich enough to go buy a brand new car and start cutting it up. The last car I built was a 53 chevy as it would have been raced in the mid 60's. Using only parts that would've been available in the day. I really like what you did, but that is only your way of customizing. Not the definitive way if customizing. Be well, and keep wrenching. You'll get it right one day.
