I go through the process I follow to cut a violin bridge, this is mostly real time though some parts are sped up. music is licensed through epidemic sound.

I had no ideas as to how intricate this was. After seeing some of the details, though, and thinking how a violin transfers vibrations through super-sensitive, multiple mediums, it does make sense. Great education and appreciation. Thank you. Now, I'd like to see how some barefoot hillbilly from 1860 set up his fiddle to get the other book end! I'll shoot for somewhere in the middle of the two :)

Sorry but I was almost turning of your video! Fortunately you took the chin rest! But before I go without finishing your video I must mention that you have a very beautiful watch that can also scratch your job!!! Maybe i can finish to see your video to learn with all your mistakes that I should avoid fixing my violin!

A lot of careful artistic work into making this critical part. I have my violin in a well known shop in Glendale, California where they are cutting a new bridge for it. I will have a greater appreciation of that new bridge now that I have seen the process. I am curious. Does the "heart" and "comma" shapes on the bridge really produce better sound or is it just tradition? Thank you for letting us appreciate your fine work.

Nice work. I noticed you discussed the appropriate string height but I did not notice you take a measurement for them. Did I just miss it?

Hi, I can't actually remember! Most likely it got edited out, but also once you cut a few thousand bridges you get a feel for the correct string height, so I may have just skipped that actual measuring bit.

I bought one very similar for this same purpose: KAKURI Kiridashi Knife Right Hand 18mm. Made in Japan, a little over $20. Very sharp and fits the hand quite well.

Dude use a Dremel. Saves you lot of time... No longer would I be going to my expensive luthier... Thanks to you too but learn to do it myself and Amazon for the parts I need.

Dremel is for pretenders, pull out the chainsaw mate🙂. Each to their own, you go to Amazon and buy bezos a new rolex, or support you local artesian, up to you👍

@@windowintomyworkshop820 Warning, spelling Fascist (not escalated to grammar Nazi^^) at work, but methinks you mean "artisan", not "artesian". The latter refers to a type of well or spring, if i am not mistaken...^^ The reference to Bozo (the Clown) at Amazon is well-appreciated, however.~

In any case, the main point is appreciation for how much detailed meticulous and accurate work goes into preparing a decent bridge. As someone who regularly encounters extremely bad ones here in Thailand, where i live and work as a "Canadian-in-exile", i am highly impressed by your efforts. Excuse me if my first comment was to draw attention to the "modest malapropism the maker had made"...~

@@colinwrubleski7627 Many thanks for your support and kind correction on my spelling mistake! I must confess I'm not very academic. More of a hands on type of guy🙂....(I do hope I didn't make any mistakes there!! Would be just too funny!)

Man you get one chance to get it right before having to buy a whole new bridge blank, nobody in their right mind is gonna use a dremel.
