The most definitive exhibition of fitting a violin bridge I have ever seen! The photographic clarity was superb! First class!

Thank you for sharing your skill with us! It has been really difficult to find practical information about set-up, especially cutting a new bridge. It is really wonderful to see you at work.

Very good video, after practicing many times with cheap chinese bridges I was able to make a decent violin bridge. My violin sounds 50% better. Many thanks sir.

I have a question: Do the decorative looking cutouts, on the bridge, serve any purpose other than aesthetics? I wondered if they could be to save some weight, or that they may have some effect on the transmission of vibrations through the bridge, and into the spruce face plate?

Thanks for this great video. I wonder if you have also altered the hearts? Also my violin has a wolf on D string at roughly A note, same with high position on G string. Is there any recommendations on altering the bridge to eliminate it? Thanks very much.

When you measured the top of the bridge the first read 1.20 then you reset the caliper and it read .48! The 1.2 is correct yes? Thanks again for your time and talent!

That was the imperial measure 0.048 inch would be approximately 1.2 mm

Daniel, it would be very interesting to listen the violin sound with each of the cuts to the bridge after and before. Many thanks.

I like the detail on the bridge cutting. But I'm very meticulous about how I handle a musical instrument especially someone else's. I get very upset when I see people not treating them with respect. When you're handling someone else's musical instrument whether it's a $30 cheap violin or a million dollar Stradivarius you should be respectful enough to treat them exactly the same. Your workbench should have a soft clean cloth that will not damage the instrument anyway not even the slightest scratch. And he used that pencil to scratch the surface of the violin that really bothered me. The noise it was making a loan told me he was leaving marks in that finish. Even after he rubbed the Mark's off I could still see white marks that were permanent. He was also dragging that violin across that wooden bench I could hear the friction coming from it. That may not have bothered other people but that's struck a real nerve with me. It's one thing to have that kind of mentality on your own instrument but you should never treat somebody else's instrument like that for any reason. They make grease pencils that do not harm the finish in any way and can be easily wiped off. When I custom fit a bridge I'll put a really thin piece of cloth over the finish and a piece of sandpaper over that and custom fit the bridge that way that finish is not harmed in any way. I know people may disagree with me but it seem like a bull in a china shop the way he handled that violent at times.

Das ist ein kleiner Stanley Hobel. Ich weiss nicht ob es diesen noch gibt. Aber die Firma Kunz hat ein gleiches Modell. Wichtig ist, dass er gut schneidet und die "Sohle" Plan ist.
