I love this video. I like the low key casualness, and the dogs, and that bee at the end! Keep doing what you’re doing! This would be a joy to watch even if I wasn’t a gardener.

I love comfrey and it is a wonderful medicinal plant. Back in the day it was called ‘knit bone’, so if someone breaks a bone it can cut the mend time in half. My daughter broke bones in her foot and every evening she applied a poultice of comfrey to the area, (removeable cast) while resting. Her doctor was amazed how quickly she healed. It’s amazing for so many things. Great video Nick!!!

Guess what! My husband and I watched your original film today together. So inspired, we went to the garden and decided what would be our “back to eden” section since he said he wanted “some” grass. ALSO, I researched some sites and apparently on my local neighborhood site someone offered FREE wood chips. I contacted him tonight and he said come and get it. Thank you sooooo much and God Bless!!!!!

This guy really did a wonderful job in demonstrating how to cut back the comfrey plant. I've got some in our back yard. I'll try to follow his cutting back directions.

Thank you for the video. I have a comfrey in the front of my house that I love. It's big, beautiful, and the bees just love it. I've been looking for more information on it and hope to transplant some of it closer to my garden in the back yard. I appreciate the information on cutting back and managing it, as it does get very tall and falls over which is just unsightly. Thanks again. Thumbs up and new subscriber.

Really appreciated this video as i was wondering what to do with all the comfrey we have going insane in the flower beds. Moved here two summers ago and still haven't eradicated it... don't have chickens (or any stock to feed it to) to deal with it. I do NOT miss your videos!

I just found your sight looking up the comfrey plant and not being nosey I noticed your willow tree. I love willow trees and had two on my property but one became top heavy and fell over. Please make sure you trim your willow every couple years. The other one my husband had to cut because of the root system growing into our septic. Sorry about the sour advice but felt you needed to know. Safe better than sorry. God bless and thanks for the information on the comfrey plant.

Thank you! The only think is though that you will want to make sure you only get the "bocking 14" variety as the others will produce viable seeds and spread like wildfire

Great video and just what I was looking for. I planted Bocking 14 last year and this year it's huge! It's been blooming for a while (the bees were late this year though, extended cool spring for us.) I'm in a cold climate- 4 seasons. I know it's very hard to kill comfrey, but should I be harvesting differently because of my climate or because of its age?

Just seen the video as I've started growing comfrey this year. It's a great video, very informative and you've got a cool presenting style- love it! I live in the northwest of England, so I doubt my comfrey will grow to the size of yours. By the way, what breed is your smaller dog? He's a cracker! Thanks for the video. I'll check out your others.

Should I keep my common comfrey plant in a pot bc I’m not planning on permanently living on the property I reside at at the moment, or could I plant it into the ground and propagate it later to my permanent property? To simplify my question is comfrey easy to propagate?

@GrowingBackToEden
@GrowingBackToEden 5 лет назад
You don't want to buy comfrey seed you want to get the bocking 14 variety in the form of a root division. It dosnt produce seed so it won't spread

Are the nutrients too much for livestock though?
@GrowingBackToEden
@GrowingBackToEden 5 лет назад
Animals aren't dumb they will only eat as much as they need of something at a time. The sheep will chew on a few leaves a week they dint keep it mowed down because they are living in mineral and nutritent dense pasture but if the animals were on poor pasture they would try to eat more than they do. Ideally you want to make sure your animals are already not deficient so that they don't want to overload their insides with such a rich concentrated source of food

I have been feeding comfrey to all my livestock once a week for 15 yrs. The Dexter cows 🐄 sometime eat it and sometimes don't. The horses 🐎 eat it. The goats 🐐 eat it. The sheep smell it 🐑. The chickens devour it 🐔

When you are a distance from your camera & mic, it's very hard to hear what is being said. Could you maybe start wearing your mic on your hat or shirt, so the sound doesn't fade to a whisper? Yes, comfrey is an absolute miracle plant!
