Hello everyone! Now my secret is revealed!!! In this video I show you how to cut dies without using a die cutting machine. I do not own a machine with a big slot and I have tried cutting my big dies with many objects and this is the best of all! Thank you for your comments! Many people ask me if they can use a metal knife, a metal ruler, or a stone to rub on the die cuts, and I DO NOT recommend to do that because dies are metal and have a sharp edge, if you use metal or a stone to rub against your dies it will degrade the sharpness of them and eventually your dies will became dull and won’t cut anymore. You can use any hard plastic instead, since this is a softer element it will get worn, but it will preserve the life of your dies. Have fun crafting 💕

I think it’s funny how many people in the comments are so shocked that this can be done by hand! 😂 ❤ There was a world of scrapbooking before these machines were being mass produced for the average consumer. The ladies I knew back in the 80’s and 90’s were absolute pro’s at cutting and embossing by hand. It’s becoming a lost art form imo! Hats off to all of you willing to learn this too. It’s a real talent in my view. Hand made and not mass produced is always better. ❤

Great idea! If you want to take away those used ridges on your bone folder, gently rub over it with sandpaper, it may take a few times, but you will get a nice edge back that will make it last longer. xxx

💝You just saved me so much money and aggravation. I ordered many die’s from Temu, then I realized I had no idea how to use them😵‍💫Then I went on the machine hunt, wondering if I even wanted to do this hobby enough to justify a machine? I've seen someone use a stone and a rolling pin, a bone folder is more convenient and easy to use. very cool❤️❤️

This is a great option of manual die cutting! I made two videos where I used a rock with the same technique. Good video Once if I wanted to give was and I was working with this last night when a die for some reason will not involve us even when you put it through with rubber pad if you've got the time you can in use you can use the embossing tool to emboss that area I did want to send you that tip anyway great video thanks again

This is a great idea. But if the bone folder is dented like yours is. Maybe you can make it flat again with some sandpaper so you can use it even longer. I don't know if that will work.

You can sand down the bone folder after it gets too many ridges! It will eventually get thinner but i think itll help

It’s easy to cut simple lines but if it’s an intricate design I recommend you a die cutting machine.

@Caroline White - An embossing folder requires pressure/weight applied on the entire surface. This cannot be achieved with a bone folder. You will have to think of some heavy weight/pressure applied on it, like running it over with a rolling pin or something like that. I even wonder if the rolling pin would also work in conjunction with the die as it would be a faster process and not so tough on arthritic fingers when using the bone folder.

You can also cut down a large folder, if the design still looks correct. I have some Teresa Collins folders that I planned to do that with - probably using something like an exacto knife. I have tried the rolling pin method and that can work to a degree, sometimes misting the paper helps release the fibers.
