In this video, see how to cut mica using metal shears and a pair of scissors. Also demonstrated is how to create circles using both hole punch pliers and a disc cutter.

I found the list of supplies needed on the website, however a number of ingredients were missing due to the being discontinued/not carried....is there anyway to get an updated list of supplies? I absolutely luv this piece, and would like to use old photos and vintage charms of my great grandmothers to create my own!

+kammieheff HI. I am so glad you like this piece, it was a lot of fun to make. Unfortunately some of the supplies have been discontinued by the manufacturers and that is why they are no longer available. I checked the project itself www.beadaholique.com/t-ba-project-N664.aspx?RU-vid& against our website and the two main pieces, the open back pronged bezel and the mica sheets, are so unique that I can't really recommend an appropriate substitution. If you like working with photos and embedded objects, you might want to consider trying resin. There are hundreds of bezels available for resin and it's a great way to create personalized jewelry with photos. If you are interested, let me know and I will send you some links to get you started.

do you seal the edges of mica w glue. i find mica flakes too easy.

+Vicki Basta I have not attempted to seal the images with glue because I have always liked that flaking look, however, I imagine that you could easily seal the edges with a thin layer of glue. I would just avoid the top side of the mica because the glue could cause a sheen or other "residue" look.

Are the metal charms on top of the mica?

You forgot to tell the part where mica mostly comes from child labor and many of them die in those mica mines..just a tiny forgotten detail right..

Your focus should be on forcing their government to regulate the mines properly and finding feasible solutions to help these poor and starving people who have no other source of income. Many of those children cannot imagine a life not mining because they know that if they do not mine, they cannot afford to eat. Who truly deserves the anger, there? The government allowing children to starve and go without education, or the people buying the product they are desperately selling so they can eat? Apparently, you do not condemn their government in the slightest. There are just as many children born into prostitution as there are children who mine to eat, and both should be equal symbols of a failed government.
