In this video, I show you how to cut PVC pipe perfectly straight. Many people use power tools to cut a piece of PVC or ABS pipe, but the best way to get a perfectly straight cut is to use a simple hand saw. It is definitely slower than the other methods and requires a bit of extra work, but the perfectly straight cut makes it entirely worth it in many different situations.

Awesome 😂 , I can't ever cut ,draw throw or nothing in a straight line... I have went thru hundreds of $$ in broken pipes ,glue,and primer,parts and prices on my 1 year learning on my own doing my irrigation, faucets and well all my pvc+ installations I only figured out recently that all my pipes don't stay together because of all my slanted/jagged cuts .. I thought I was up crap creek when I realized that all cuts must be straight or chances are they will never work... then I found you haha thanks a million,I'm sure you have saved me a BILLION $$ ❤

Your video was a life saver... the clamp idea is great! I'm a DIY and didn't do a good job with my pipe cutter, but thanks to your clamp idea I was able to 'straighten' my cuts with a utility knife, and the fittings went in just fine. I placed the clamp on the pipe and trimmed off anything above the clamp.

U should of set it up vertically on the floor to prove its straightness because it looked a tad off.

Tip: turn the pipe so the clamp screw is at the bottom so you start cutting from the side of the pipe opposite to the screw. That way you don't have to loosen the clamp until the cut is complete.

Putting a fountain in our pool area and thought I'd see if I could save myself having to haul my mitre saw and saw bench out of the shed, and this is a great idea, but after seeing you struggle to hold the pipe whilst sawing I think I'll just get the drop saw out, probably less work - but great for the DIYer who doesn't have access to a bunch of power tools (or as you say, someone looking to burn calories! 😀)

Can’t say I agree with this video. In the field time is money, using a reciprocating saw 9/10 after some practice you can cut perfectly straight. I do it every day. In the time it takes you to mark, apply ring, and cut with a handsaw you can cut 15-20 pieces of pipe +/- a millimeter to your target measurement which is fine as long as it’s straight. Just don’t see this as worth it. There’s also a “tolerance” if you will, of imperfect cuts that does not affect the life of the pipe

you do realize that this video is a DYI and maybe for the home user, or out in the field that can help. as for cutting, I think the video is great for marking and making perfect clean cuts.. give the guy a break - he scored 10...

Or, use a large diameter pipe cutter. You get a straight cut, with no deburring work afterwards.

It matters to me because I'm cutting the spacer for a motorcycle fork, and the PVC spacer needs to be straight. But I think the forks are gay so it may be a moot point.

@@matttriestodothings I wouldn't even trust a PVC spacer on a BMX bike 😂. For something like that you could always just file it down or sandpaper on a flat surface to get it perfect.
