Great advice.. as an amateur used to eat 1 meal daily and run twice daily in sweat suits.. wish I knew back then what they know in todays world about nutrition
Remember Joe Bugner once saying he’s so glad he fought as a heavyweight. No cutting weight just keeping strong and being fit. Said all weights below heavyweights that they were the true athletes because not only did they have to do all the same trying things that a heavyweight did but they had to diet and cut weight. He witnessed it with the smaller guys and said it looked like Hell.
This was the same guy responsible for Ricky Hatton’s diet in training camps. If you remember how bad Ricky would balloon in weight between fights then you realise this man is an expert lol.
Ricky was his own man after training camp its hes fault not the nutrition coach. Its nutrition coach job to get the weight off Hatton, you have to remember he can't follow Hatton round 24/7 out of training camp
Boxers aren't fighting at their true weight classes.... They are trying to lose as much weight as possible to fight in lower weight classes in hopes to be the bigger more powerful guy. The reason these guys are torturing themselves to lose weight is to have an advantage in a weight class they shouldn't even really be in.
That is what Canelo was telling everyone about fighting David. Look what happen to Boo Boo versus David. Boo Boo was really good but David was too big to strong for the skilled boxer.
Ok so here’s my question. I have to much stored energy (aka) fat. I start to burn off this energy by running. But after the run I feel like I’ve got no energy & so I eat more energy. Please help 😂
You can eat some carbs/fat before you train & it will have no effect on you gaining body fat, infact it will help you feel more energised. This will only work however if your in a caloric deficit. If you need more advise follow me on Instagram @pro.fitz_
So what about fasting. But only drinking protein shakes and water. But training while on that fast. Surely that satisfies your protein intake and ur hydration.
Why do alot of high level fighters lose their fitness between fights while alot of low level fighters maintain their fitness? Shouldn't it be vice versa?
You can’t train flat out all the time. And you can reach a fitness ‘peak’ which is a higher level of conditioning than a peak you can maintain by training continuously. You can tick over to keep your weight down, but cycling your training in the form of camps is far better and easier on the body
so basically i haven't box sine 2019 I stopped to play basketball in highschool but now I want to box again since Im much better at the sport but my wieght went from middleweight to heavyweight and im too short to be fighting at the heavywieght class so I need to get down from 213 to at least 170 so yeah Thats why im here
Qualified nutritionist so had to have my pennies worth. It's a complete myth that you can eat as much protein as you like and not gain body fat and demonising fats and carbs is downright dangerous. There needs to be a balance of all 3 (going low fat will leave you deficient in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E&K, for example, not great for recovery). I think it's worth noting Kerry owns CNP nutrition - the protein shake company... He's not a nutritionist and most of what he's saying here is based in the fact he makes money from largely unnecessary supplements.
Bodybuilders don't do cardio? Jesus, how is he saying that with a straight face... bodybuilders do insane amount of cardio to get into shape, especially when it's close to a pro show. Its also calories in vs calories out doesn't matter whether its fat or carbs or protein, though protein takes the most energy to digest and helps build muscle.
@shapz rackz you think lifting weights is whats making you burn calories and getting you lean? How many boxers are running around with 230-300 pounds of lean muscle? Use your brain pal. It takes much more energy to perform a task and also use a lot more oxygen to fuel those muscles.
@shapz rackz hahahahahaha oh my god. I am going to leave that as no comment. It clearly shows you have 0 knowledge about the industry. Not even going to lower myself to insult you. Peace out.
@@zackmichaelz Doing extreme levels of cardio yes. they probably do at least 1 hour of cardio every day, some even do more, but they pair that with resistance training and heavy protein diet to fuel their muscles so the gains are kept and only fat is burnt. Why do you think they eat so much.
@shapz rackz HIIT? hahahahahaha... What else you are going to tell me the amazing after burn effect you gain from it? 48 hours of burning insane 20 - 30 extra calories? Why do you think boxers/athletes/mma fighters list goes on, do mostly steady state cardio to burn calories? and Resistance training to build muscle? Educate yourself...
Ricky Hatton prime example of a boxer who didn't look after himself properly in between fights mind you Tyson Fury Didnt either and he ain't doing to bad 🥊🥊
Cutting water weight will kill you. You need those road miles. You need to gradually lose weight weeks before weigh in and the final push is water weight. Not water weight only. This guy will end up killing his fighters with attitudes like this
@@CookieDee11 I think kerry Kay's knows a little more about body building than you he was once one himself and he also trained and give nutritional advice to many including Dorian Yates 6 times mr Olympia
@@bazboychap9760 Why are you comparing the two? All i said was body builders do cardio. I didn't say they were on the level of a fighter. Just do a little research yourself and then come back to apologise to me.
You can’t explain making weight for a fight in a 3 minute video and you certainly can’t explain it by simply saying ‘ look at bodybuilders, and eat less fat and carbohydrates’. Kerry Kayes was a good bodybuilder and is a well respected nutritionist who knows more about this than any of us might ever know, but a video this short doesn’t do the process any justice. Moderate/high protein is a given, and you need a sufficient amount of different sources of carbs timed specifically around your workouts, and tailored for whether it’s roadwork or strength or sparring etc. You also need the right amount of healthy fats as they will regulate your hormones and keep your organs working how they are supposed to. All the while you need to be in a caloric deficit, for long enough to get to a target weight a week out, by that time most fighters today will start preparing for the water cut. And as bad as the water cuts can be, it’s a necessary evil because if you’re walking around at your fight weight then you’ll be outsized come fight night, when the welterweights come in 160ish or more.
All you gotta do is drink a bunch of water (at least one gallon a day), workout, and not eat carbs and salty foods. Then the day before weigh in drink as little water as possible. Run a lil bit with warm clothes on and jump rope for about 30 mins. Only drink sips though. And the same thing right before you weigh in. Then after you weigh in rehydrate back up and get some carbs in
I ounce lost 36 pounds in 3 weeks getting ready for a boxing match🤪 if only i knew what i know now I went on to win 2 World titles and learned from that youtube K9boxing join the Team🥊
@@Ajs_1988 not really Ricky would train like a beast and even if he ate junk he would lose weight due to the crazy training. He would wear a sweat suit aswel which shows these guys haven't a clue.
@@Ajs_1988 there's many good boxing trainers that doesn't mean they know about nutrition. Not knocking him as a boxing coach but nutrition I have studied and the advice he gave wasn't entirely true.
