This method works great for me as I'm siding alone. The least amount of trips the better...
Hardie recommends holding siding 2 inches off the roof... However with the back pan on the wall flashing being only 3 inches. This doesn't leave enough room to hide the silver bugscreen and prep work...
The piece of lumber I layed down was 1 and quarter. A perfect number I've found for roof line reveals
I feel like a lot of the "recommendations" are made without considering built out siding, as lots of areas don't use it.
