@@kdsaquariums497my 4 feet aquarium has mollys and tetras..1 year old tank.. Since last 1 week i am observing some fin rot and mouth fungus in some fishes. I have treated them with rock salt. But after 1 or 2 days a new fish gets infected. What to do now?
Remove fishes infected with fungus in separate tank or bucket add one capsule of tetracycline500 in the water and give full aeration.. open the capsules and put the powder in water do not put the capsule cover.. Keep the fish for 3-4 hours in it. Foam will be formed on top of water dont worry about it. After 3-4 hours remove fishes and put back in your main aquarium. Clean your tank and filters regulary to avoid fungal infection. Tetracycline will be available in all medical stores. If the problem continues to come you can treat your whole tank with potassium permanganate. But it is to be done very carefully. Give mild dosage .. I had cycled my new aquarium setup for 15 days now without adding any fish. Yesterday I added 4 mollies but they all died. I checked the ammonia, nitrite and the nitrate levels. All are showing zero. Could you please advice what could have gone wrong Thanks
the exact reason for fish death is very difficult to find out. may be the fishes u had bought were not healthy . drastic change in temperature can also cause fish death. fish also get stressed if they are not packed properly and kept in package for long time. also make sure u r testing the water correctly

to exactly know test kit will be required. when u start cycling ammonia will rise then after some days ammonia will decrease and nitrite will rise then after some days nitrite will decrease and nitrate will rise. when ur ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0 and u only have nitrates in tank water then ur cycling is complete. if u dont have test kit, and u r putting used media then wait for a week or two and then add fish.. dont add lot of fish at one time add 2-3 fishes and then slowly add fishes. hope this clarifies..

@@kdsaquariums4971) You don't need to put a dead fish in your aquarium. 2) 2 weeks of cycling is enough for new aquarium.6 weeks will be a way too long, although not harmful.
1) Aquarium cycle fast karne ke liye tank me ammonia source dalne ki jarurat hoti hai... To koi bhi ammonia source ko use kar sakte ho Mari hui fish dalo ya fish food dalo ya aur kuch dalo.. bas ammonia badhane se matlab.. 2) if u r not using used media in your filter or not putting any ammonia source to speedup your nitrogen cycle then 6 weeks will be required... if you are adding ammonia source then 3-4 weeks and if you are using used filter media the 1-2 weeks is enough. You can add fish without cycling tank also but you should use hardy species like common gold fish and add only 1-2 fishes depending on your tank size. It would be best if you measure your water parameters while cyling your tank and add fish when your ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0 and you have only nitrate readings. But everybody cannot afford test kits especially the beginners. So its better to be safe than sorry Hope that clarifies
