Unfortunately CPM as a system has no good ways to recover a schedule. It will insist you rush, push, panic, and increase WIP. It will encourage more people, more overtime, more materials, and more money. All of those will hurt your productivity.

Also really glad i read The Lean Startup over the weekend. You really do incorporate a ton of lean practices, especially that Build-Measure-Learn Feedback Loop, it just makes too much sense!
