HOW to DEAL with DIRTY DRIVERS!! 

Good tips Mate. Ad advantage in the Endurance races I do, we have more laps to pass them, it can be fun to try to pass them in the same spot for a few laps, to make them think that is your passing spot, then go for it at a completely different spot when they are not expecting it, part if the mind game. Hey Ryan, I've successfully tried the nailing while bracking (I have to admit it was a tight maneuver). Now I may try the apex nailing while accelerating that you explained. Another thing to note is that when the driver in front is racing you really hard or even dirty, they usually may expect you to do the same. So race others how you'd like to be raced

Good advice Yesterday, I was rental kart racing for lap times, and there was a new kart driver that stayed slow on all apex corners. When I attempted to pass them, they would always block constantly, causing another driver to hit me due to late to little braking. It's very annoying indeed

Good advice are used to race in Canada. We read Honda 6.5 similar to the Briggs class now and there was a lot of dirty drivers in Canada. They would take you out on purpose at some of the club levels. The trick was with the Honda. What is the keep your momentum in 4 cycle because of the low power I remember one time at a club race. This is probably halfway through the year. There was a guy and his buddies with all gang up on me and then try and take me out in the corners doing die bombs and stupid shit. I got beside this guy on the straightaway and crank the wheel right into them, put them in the tires. He did a couple helicopters and flew out of the kart yes I wrecked my race but they never did that shit ever again so it worked out into my favor. I think I got a race van or something too, but it was well worth it to stop the BS. I look back on it now and think yeah I probably shouldn’t have done that. It’s all for a five dollar trophy at club level not really worth it.

A technique that worked really well with a driver constantly retaliating a pass - Follow them for a while and figure out where you are faster and where they are faster. Where they are faster do your utmost to match them and make a pass in this area. That way in the parts where you are faster you can can pull away just enough that even a crazy lunge from them isnt possible.

hey Ryan just a question on braking, is there a trick to brake better in the entry of a corner or is it just a lot of practice that I need to do

At shennington in ICA S1 I had someone blocking and blocking and blocking soo the final time this happened I stayed lite out of the last chicane down to the dog leg and used him as a brake and he ended up in the bales. This was right in front of an official and it cost me in that race but he never did it again going forward. This is not advice just a recollection from my karting days.

Max Verstappen seems to use that 2nd technique often on Lewis Hamilton…and I personally don’t think I agree. If you watch open wheel race drivers from the 1980s and even 1990s (Rick Mears, Al Unser Sr…), they would almost never run another driver wide on corner-exit on purpose. There was mutual respect and they would often race side by side for several corners or even an entire lap. Now it’s almost viewed as acceptable to run wide on the exit, even if there’s another car or kart still there. Why?? I’ll argue that part of the reason is the gradual “closing” of open wheel racing machines via bumpers and bodywork, which arguably makes the cars safer but gives the drivers a heightened sense of invincibility.

Hi Ryan, I have a problem with a particular dirty driver. We are in 4 strokes and this guy tends has a win it on the 1st lap mentality. He has punted me off twice, on the 1st lap into the same left hairpin, in the last year. How do I get the better of this guy because he is just crazy on the opening laps? Each time he has apologized but the last time I told him I have had enough of it. I don't think he will even remember though by the next meeting...

Won't the nose drop because of me driving into another kart in the braking zone? I understand that I'm supposed to touch the kart before the braking not just hit him but won't the load on the nose be too much? Just being curious) in indoor karting cups moving another driver is usually the only way to pass because of the lack of space

in 2019 season, had issues with other driver throughout local club season. he had punted me multiple times while battling for position during the season. we got to last race, he was fighting for championship, i wasnt :(, my ally was tho and i wanted to make sure my ally won the championship, we got to the final and I made the race a living hell for the dirty driver, track had big straightaways so anytime he would try and pass somebody I would bump draft the kart getting past so the driver I had encounters with would complete the pass, finally with two to go he tried forcing me into a curb to defend his position but i got my elbows which forced him onto runoff area, he used this runoff area to reovertake me which gave him a penalty and lost him the championship.

hahah, exactly, only 4 drivers on grid and we got a bumper penalty in Q haha, because my son decided to hit him, because he was sabotaging us all year long in practice , race..., I said to my son let it go, but he decided he has to do something to stop it for ever, and it worked we won the race after by fair driving and he felt great, also he drove him out as you said from behind and I have it on video if you want to have a look

Hit or push me while in a corner. Or coming up to the corner. Or run me wide on exit, if I'm beside you. Is dirty racing in itself. Inspired by NASCRAP. That kind of BS driving is way to common in karting today. Do that crap to me and you won't finish the race.

This weekend actually lol. got punted by him T1 Lap 1 and I sorta just, shoved him out of the corner. was a bit far away from Stewarts so I didn't get a penalty but an eye for an eye I guess.

I had a driver who continually tried to wreck people and run people off the track. My solution was simple. I sent him off the track and he hasn’t touched me since then.

Don’t deal with dirty drivers often, but occasionally they have ruined a race of mine. But I don’t know how to deal with them, so I just let them ruin my race. Hopefully these tips help.

I have a friend and the way he overtakes is he touches your back bumper and then slices which makes your back end slide yes is very annoying so I just do the most stupid dive bombs and he goes wide can’t catch up again. Issue solved:)

In briggs this is very important..alot of dirty drivers, i have a hard time not getting pist but i very rarely give it back to the other driver.. i usually just REALLY make sure to catch up to them and pass them its more rewarding that way! But you can be sure i let them know exactly what i think after the race going to the scales!! Hahaha they usually leave me alone after that and in some cases the guys are even too nice to me on track afterwards because they know i get pissed off!! Lllllllollll

Why would I let you pass me? And how does that make me a dirty driver. Its a race.
