To get rid of any flying pests, get carnivorous plants. They catch almost anything. And they are fun as well.

I got 30x30x45 for my assassin bugs keep the corners damp and use a fan!my white spots went from nymphs to adults in 18 weeks the heat definitely helped!

Some great information Dave. I have a separate room for my tarantulas. I have the curtains shut in that room anyway, which helps a fair bit anyway. I don't go crazy on the water. I don't get many gnats in that room, even from the 3 colonies of roaches I do have. I tend to go through them and give them a clean out .... I hate sorting the red runners, they are absolute pains 😂... Anyway cool video Dave. 👍

I think the spiders take it cooler than we do...heatwave will hit us in Sweden too but mabye not as hard as in the UK! When I took care of my sons tarantula I used common sense during a month when we had temperatures around 30 to 35 degrees every single day. I kept the blinds shut, she had water and her enclosure was well ventilated and I tried to air out heat during the night / when it was doable. It was almost unbearable hot inside our apartment for us and the houses in Sweden are built to keep the heat inside during the cold seasons so the heat accumulate in the walls and it takes a long time for it to cool down! AC are not common I houses or apartments here but we ourselves use fans to keep us and our pets cool. Plenty of rest, and water to drink too! I can't ❤ love the heat but I will try to be gentle and calm! Good advise and an informative video as usual, thank you dear Dave and Sweet Camera Lady! Hugs, Susanne.

Over watering killed my Asian Forrest Scorpion so watch out! Just because the place that sells them states they need to be in a damp to wet enclosure doesn't mean that's the best thing you can do, work with your own environment

Very interesting! How do you know when to feed each different stage of life spiders? Do you have a calendar you keep? Do you try and get the same size spiders on the same feeding schedule? As to the gnats, i had put sticky paper NEAR and OUTSIDE of the enclosures as well as cups of cider and a couple of carnivorous plants and within a week they were gone. I dont know why anyone would put sticky paper in with the spider.... lol

In my case, my Ts are kept in the basement, where it's always at 72F (22C) year-round. I use Kritter Keepers as enclosures and I occasionally overflow the water bowl a bit. No issues whatsoever over the years, my big adult females are all happy :) Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

Great advice, great video! It's 37 degrees in Sheffield today 🥵🥵 I keep my spiders in my living room and luckily the sun is out the back of the house not the front so they are in the shade all the time. I've noticed a few more molts than normal but they are all doing fine 😁 I'm glad you had fantastic support with the tiktok situation and I hope you get it sorted 😊🖤🕷️

Best thing for the TikTok situation is to create an account so people can report it as “pretending to be someone else” as most of the reports seem to get ignored by TikTok 👍🏼 Another great video. Some of my enclosures - the slings, probably need to be a bit drier - so my fingers are crossed that they’ll be ok.

First of all I adore this warm weather. I really do. And I notice animals can adept very well. They are very clever about that. These things that fly around, we call them fruitflies and I thought that was what you are giving your slinks to feed. Don't spiders eat them? And another question. Don't you have jumpingspiders? As an Australian living in London my plan, in it's entirety, is to take my shirt off.

Open all your windows at night and suck in all the cool air then close up tight during the day and unplug everything electronic that your not using! If it’s plugged in it’s emitting some heat! Even electric fans put off heat from the motor so only run fans in the room your in.

It gets up to 48C or 118F where I live in the US. We're used to it- we just have to have ac. It also can get as cold as -10F or -23C in the winter. I'm only worried if the heater or ac breaks.

It's been around 109° F here for the past month in central AZ with < 20% humidity. Our Sonoran Desert tarantulas get the majority of their moisture from their prey. They only come out of their burrows at night to hunt.

It was horrible and most of us in the Pacific NW also don't own air conditioning; but after that I invested in a window unit. Add a small drop of liquid dishwashing soap (like Dawn) to the apple cider vinegar to break the surface tension and more gnats will fall victim. Works on fruit flies as well.

I hate hot weather. I like the autumn and spring. Winter isn't too bad. Summer is alright if you can run around in swimwear all day, taking frequent dips in a cool pool now and then. What kind of spider would I be? Hmm🤨🤔

Hello Dave and Camera Lady. This is a bit silly but I was so tickled you mentioned my comment about the heat here in Texas. 🥰We all pretty much have AC so we just stay inside and it isn’t such a big deal. The heat brings the cicadas out and the are quite loud. The brown Texas tarantulas have all gone to ground. I was wondering, out of all your different types of beasties, which ones do you think handle the extreme temperatures better? I would think sand spiders like the heat but what about the cooler temperatures as well? It might be fun to do a video on the difference between the males and the females of the different breeds. One last thing for gnats, we use a small bowl with apple cider vinegar but we put plastic wrap over it and poke holes in that. Okay, bed time for Suzie 😴. Thank you for the lovely video. I always putted the cages on the floor. If one have like a cellar, one can put them down in the cellar! When i lived in a villa when i was a kid we had a cool cellar. That would be ideal! Yes it does not. Humidety hydrates frogs and such but not tarantulas

Heat is different for you, your houses are not built to cope with heat, they are built to work with cold normally. I know my son and family in Wales also suffer badly with heat because the houses are not built to get rid of it easily. You try hanging a wet sheet up in the doorway and put a fan on it from the outside of the door.

Be nest to get some fans going that way the air isn't staying hot and stale cause circulating air will be a bit cooler then hot stagnant air

A lot of folks here use dehumidifiers to make their homes feel cooler.

Excellent timing Dave! Here in the states we are experiencing heatwaves off and on. Looks like we have at least 3 days in the mid 90s F this week. Props to the irrigation bottle usage. It makes it a lot easier to measure out smaller amounts of water and to get it where you want it. As usual, great content. I look forward to watching your videos as soon as I punch in at work. Great video dave, informative as ever, since we've had this hot weather I've just kept my curtains nearly closed, keeps my T room cooler. With regards to the Tik Tok chap, although we are doing are best, his followers have gone up, will keep trying.

Sorry if this has already been covered in a previous video but do the spiders ever react to one another through the glass?

Does running fans at a distance to create air movement help? If so then watch the water dishes for increased evaporation.

Greetings from Burkina Faso. I hope you and the camera lady are safe. I don't think people understand that your homes do not lose heat. I run into issues that the the temp is below 2C. In my part of Japan, it stays warmer than this. Many times when I do work in cold places, people think I am weird for being very heavy covered with cloths. Americans have very many temperatures. I was just in Alaska. So cold lol.

I would like to learn more about spiders eyes - for instance, how many they have and can they see well and do all spiders have the same amount of eyes? Also, I know extremely difficult to catch on film but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the spider make a sperm web, totally fascinating and I would feel the same I'm sure, to watch an egg sac being produced, from begining to end. Just a few ideas I'd throw in, since you asked 😊

So helpful of you to put this out! Really glad you've addressed people spraying down enclosures excessively and creating a massively humid environment due to the speed of the evaporation. I've got a relatively small collection which I keep on a middle mezzanine floor which has a partial skylight so the sun can blare through that quite heavily so I've moved them all to the relatively cool ground floor and now have 20 tarantulas on the kitchen worktop for a couple of days. Add a little fruit juice to that apple cider vinegar and it will come alive and attract gnat/fruit flies even more.😉

You think you guys freak out about a heat wave in your country?! You should see the people-me included- in mine. I live in Scotland. Hottest weatber ever recorded was 31.9 or something. Not even close to what you guys get down south but I just cannot function in heat anymore. Alot of Scots are like that. My poor ole mum had a god damn stroke during the heat wave.And not heat stroke an actual full blown stroke.she even had to have surgery on her carotid artery. her recovery has been incredible though . She’s back home already and thats with covid too! Incredible old bird that she is. Not an ounce of quit in her. Sorry. Back to the T’s and how to make sure they can handle a heat wave.

Oh.. PS add a drip of washing up liquid to cider vinegar, it breaks the surface tension and the bug(ger)s don’t float just drown. Use the same method for wasps around my apiary . 😁👍

Very interesting video. You are an excellent teacher!

If the room is a bit humid anyway, it may be advantageous to add a small fan for air circulation, or turning on a ceiling fan. The additional airflow could prevent the enclosures from becoming septic/stagnant. Also, if you don't have AC, you could try what we call "A Redneck Air Conditioner" which is a temporary fix, but works in a pinch. Buy a cheap foam beer cooler, cut two holes near the top, add a small fan to one hole, fill the cooler with a bag of ice. The ice lasts a lot longer than you think, and it will knock a few degrees off the room.

Great video Dave! I learn something new every video, we are in the states and right next to Texas our forecasted high for Tuesday is a sizzling 112 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit!! All my ladies and one gentleman are in my downstairs living room at an average of 79 to 80 degrees. The room is dark with little sun and my spiders are doing well, I will follow your advice on watering and spraying, thanks so much for the info!! flies coming with crickets they are meat flies, another kind of small fly, it is very hard to get rid of them, traps will help for a small number of them, once you get them - you have them, unfortunately :/ Only way to kill them is to dry your enclosures for a couple of weeks

if you think 104 is bad in arizona where i live it is normal for us to get up to 122F during summer i wish we only got to 104 hehe
