-Tested on my Fiat Siena 1.7 D.
-It's safe and eficient, no risk to damage the engine,just do what i
did in this video.
-Your engine will run smoother and healthier.
-you can do it every 5 or 6 mounths , especially when you have an
old big millage engine .
-Thumbs up if you find that the video was helpful .

For all who think that this method is worthless , it's so simple .....: Do not try it ! but on the other hand Do not talk Nonsense ! I'm not payed to do this , it was supposed to help others maintaining their engines for Free . And please before posting a useless comment at least be positive , if you don't know what are you talking about keep it for yourselves . And again my engine is still runnig like first day , i do decarbonize it once every year No signe of damage at all ! Any video response that show the opposite of the video purpose is welcome Any unnecessary comment will be deleted Thanks for whatching

OK a couple of tips:- if its a turbocharged car, only spray after intercooler because if you spray from airbox hose it will get sucked through turbo which could damage the blades. Also, if you want to speed up the effect (it can take a lot of water to decarbonise some EGR diesel engines), mix methanol and distilled water 50/50 and get a dense fine spray down the inlet. Much easier and cheaper than removing inlet and trying to walnut blast it.

That is one way to crack a cylinder head, break a piston, or bend a conrod. You need to be very careful not to pour the water into the inlet in large volumes, or any of the things mentioned above could happen.

For all the guys screaming about hydrolocking the engine...not really gonna happen with this amount of water, if you think about the way everything's happening, the rpm, 4 cylinders to spread the water out over etc the risk is minimal, ok, lets do some math to break it down to help understand and show it, say we assume a combustion chamber size of 50cc(so piston at TDC, the air volume left over), and at 3000rpm thats 50 revolutions a second, its also a 4 cylinder so thats 200cc's of combustion chamber volume, he's only spraying say 50 to 75ml of water in a 1 second burst...in 1 second that engine has rotated 50 times, divide that by 2 to get a complete combustion cycle(its a four stroke engine so suck squeeze bang blow) so we get 25, times that by 200cc of combustion chamber volume is 5000cc of combustion chamber volume turnover per second or 1.25 litres per cylinder per second....still believe your going to hydrolock that engine with 50 to 75ml of water? hydro lock situations happen when you try wading your car through deep water and forget the intake for the airbox is low and it sucks in litres of water= more than the 50cc combustion area in a cylinder= broken bits and broken wallet

Where you not worried about it hydro locking up. I have a V6 that has been run with burst boost pipe for 6 months and wouldn't really want to kill engine I have a steamer and was going to steam clean it thought the air intake. I used to service small gasoline electricity generators and sometimes tradesmen would leave them idling in the back of a truck [well,not idling they were doing 3,000 rpm in a 50 cycle country or 3,600 in the USA] and with no load, they were clogging up the heads and mufflers. To fix this I used to attach them to a load bank with the air filter removed, got myself a stool,sat down with a "Spray and Wipe" bottle full of water and just fired in a few squirts ever 5 or 10 seconds and watched them belch a load of black soot as the crap detached itself from the internals, they soon got back their ability to give the amps they were rated for.

@Bouzoukiellas

If it's SPRAYED lightly and the compressor isn't spinning under full load, I would assume that it SHOULD be OK. Some people I read about on forums though just get a cup of water and pour it directly.
@diioriog
@diioriog 8 лет назад
+TomatheGreek No... this is just insane and not only for the compressor but for the piston/cilynder too. Although I can say that the ammount of oil deposit in the manifold coming from the compressor would rather suggest to spray water in the compressor intake to clean up all that rubbish...

As a owner of diesel car, I like to see others do that treatment... Big no for turbo diesel, for is a chance to break the turbine. Turbine, at exhaust, very hot.... There is a way to increase the power of diesel, and emissions reduction by spraying water in cylinders... Still, is a technology on development.... So... How I clean the pipe, and engine? Outside town, 3,500 rpm, half hour, highway. Gears 3, 4... Inside town, where possible, 3000 rpm, as long as road permit..., Third gear. Constant rpm is a must, inside/ outside town.... Must. This is my method... How you tell is working: an ease in acceleration, and a cleaner exhaust pipe... 😉

I did this back in the seventies to car's with carbarators.A guy who worked on jet engine's for the Air force showed me this trick.He took an eight ounce coke bottle full of water would get the motor to around three thousand rpms.Then put the bottle upside down in the carb open up the carb full throttle until the water ran all the way threw the exhaust.This would clean the carbon out of the engine.Later on I started using marvel mystery oil the same way it seemed that blow more carbon out of the tailpipe.I don't think I would try it with fuel injection.But you never know it may work on fuel injection to.

I can see why this works because when you spray water through the air intake its sucking it in at such a high pressure that it will just lifts all carbon gunk off etc. Heat and pressure is the key to cleaning things. I usually decarbon things like taking the EGR valve inlet manifold, EGR cooler pipe etc off my car and clean them with oven cleaner followed by a jet wash. I do it that way so i can see how coked up they get and oven cleaner does a really good job of cleaning them.Ive had some good results doing it that way just time consuming. . Id be frightened of decarboning an engine this way just in case id get wrong and start pissing off the neighbours.

I used to do fairly short trips in my old cars way before i got into decarbonizing.Now that im working and have to do long journeys its really reduced carbon build up. Blanking the EGR maybe the next step as that is the biggest culprit.

@robertyoung5785
@robertyoung5785 6 лет назад
If the vehicle has an intercooler it you would have to inject the water down stream of it. Liquid lock is unlikely but possible. At the top of the stroke there is more than enough space for an ounce or 29 grams of water in most engines. So do not let the engine bog down to much and spray not dump the water.
@vlike894
@vlike894 9 лет назад
Are all cylinders / injectors / valves cleaned out equally by decarbonising? Did all the carbon go out of the exhaust? What if the dissolved carbon clogs the cat-con / EGR? What did the dislodged carbon do to the turbo? How much of the rock-hard carbon is actually removed? Can partial carbon removal cause leaky valves or sticky rings?

What happens if you use WD40 instead of water?
@marshalllhiepler
@marshalllhiepler 5 лет назад
Well, that's easy to answer. The WD40 is combustible, so your engine will definitely run on it. Unfortunately, there will be no way to properly time the start of combustion, so it will knock horribly and risk damage to the engine, such as broken piston rings or cracked pistons. Diesel engines are not designed to compress anything but air. ... liquids are a serious no no! This includes WATER, as shown in the video. He may think he is doing the engine a favor. ... but he is definitely not.

@HighCompressionII
@HighCompressionII 8 лет назад
+Gregory May Of course I'm bloody serious! Chuck water un-metered into an engine is recipe for severe damage. Water is Incompressable--ie cant be compressed like air, so too much chucked in, piston hits it and bang, bent rods, blown out gaskets, maybe even broken crank or broken bearing journals....... It'll bugger it up anyway big time, Seen it happen. Then it Really IS new engine time. Use Plant Mister if you gonna go this route....

What about a turbo diesel engine? I have a 1984 Mercedes 300SD. I am curious as to whether there would be negative effects from spraying water into the spinning turbo impeller. I am not sure how you would accomplish the same effect if you attempted to spray the water downstream of the turbocharger due to the existing manifold pressure? So, my main question is: "would the ingestion of water droplets damage the leading edges of the impeller fins?"
@KingABS
@KingABS 8 лет назад
I think 3 or 4 sprays will not affect any part of the engine . recently i received many positive returns from some guys who have done this process on different turbo diesel engine with no problem at all . The key is to use a sprayer instead of a bottle and spray 3 to 4 times at max . that's it ( be sure the engine is warm enough and the rpm is above 2500 rpm)

I wouldn't do this on the modern diesel turbo engines as they are very sensitive....as tou can see he has used an end 80s model diesel car and remembered too that those engines were like the old hammer mills they could run with any or on anything your poured in them .....

Yes with the modern car engines you have to be careful . The engine tested in this video was from 2001 it's close to 400k km and still run like a champ , w/o sensors or calculators or even a direct injection system. Thanks for your feedback 👍

don't pour it in your engine that can cause water lock in piston you need to atomise the water so it can turn to steam quicker.

If it has carbon build up, you should see black smoke or maybe even a black gooey liquid (water mixed with carbon), coming out of the exhaust pipe, which clears up in probably less than a minute, depending on how much carbon or how well it worked.

@gregorykusiak5424

2 possibilities other than a head gasket (was it white smoke at the tailpipe?): First - you used too much water too quickly. Second - the engine wasn’t at operating temperature. Drive it for a while, and if the oil doesn’t lose milkiness, it is the gasket.

Seems to do the trick here. However, this is a rough and risky method. Let's analyse this. The main problem with diesel engines is soot. Most common problem is soot in the inlet tract caused by the EGR-valve feeding the inlet tract with exhaust gas (containing soot). Some people blank off the egr valve eliminating its function (eco) resulting in a dirtier exhaust and more strain on particle filters and/or afterburners (adblue) in the exhaust-system if present. Some oil coming from the carter ventilation system could be clogging up your inlet manifold too. Best procedure is to clean or change those valves and filters regularly. If not already present install a soot filter before the EGR valve. If you can't find one for your car with an aftermarket supplier, fabricate one. For carter ventilation just use one from another vehicle, late 70's, early 80's Honda accord ones can be adapted easily to other vehicles (they are stand alone types that can be bolted to the body and connected by hoses, don't try to modify filter types that were monted on the block, you will just end up making things difficult), for the EGR filter things are a bit more complicated, big caterter ventilation filters could do the trick or an oil-bath filter (as found on original vw beetles) provided you use an oil that doesn't catch fire at those temperatures, sticky enough to trap the soot and is still thick enough so that it doesn't get sucked into the engine. Cleaning the EGR valve can best be done with a good cleaning liquid, brake cleaning spray will do fine aswell (look around for a good price/quality relation). More inportant however are your cleaning tools (it is rather hard to get small orifices and creases cleaned, small ultrasonic cleaners (as for cleaning jewelry) do a wonderfull job and can be bought for less than a 100$ (probably all chinese stuff). If you keep a spare set of valves around, just change the valve every oil change and run the spare while the other is having a bath. That leaves only the manifold difficult to clean outside the engine itself. Some specialist companies are experimenting with gear that can do this with the part installed in the car, but let's be honest, we can only clean that by taking it out and even do it by hand, an ultrasonic cleaner that big would be quite expensive. A spare inlet manifold can easily be sourced from the breakers yard, unfortunately a good spare turbocharger would be quite expensive. For newer cars that do a lot of miles and probably will need a new turbocharger at least once in their lifetime that could be considered. It goes without saying that all this is dependant on accessibility and time needed to replace these parts. The same can be said regarding the exhaust side. A clogged exhaust robs the engine of a lot of power, so running a spare while cleaning the other will work wonders. A good flooring of the gas pedal does get a fair amount of soot out but there's no substitute for a proper bath. Particle filters and other exhaust cleaning stuff by nature restrict the free flow of gas and over time it gets worse (they get clogged up too). A good aftermarket supplier can provide you with a free flow tube and a restrictor specific to your car to mimic the same resistance a brand new exhaust cleaning system (particle filter and/or afterburner (adblue) ) so you can check if you're cleaning gear isn't stealing your horses (they might pass the environmental test but fail the hp test and vice versa or fail both). Once all this has been done we can look at the engine. Here again most problems are not in the combustion chamber but before and after. The in-and outlet canals in the cilinderhead most often are coated with oil and soot as are the valve stems (oil coming from defective carter ventilation and/or valve stem seals (providing you use the right tools, valve stem seal replacement can be done leaving the head in place). As with the manifolds no ultrasonic option here, so grinding milling, chemical cleaners even high pressure vapor can be used to get it clean (make sure the corresponding valve is closed and suck out the debris with a powerfull vacuum cleaner with a suitable adapter. After all this has been done comes the cleaning inside. A thorough cleaning of the combustion chamber can only be done with the head removed (some soot will have stuck to the piston heads but most soot will have stuck on the head side (chamber head and valves) and unfortunately on or around the injector nozzle. Injectors can be dismounted and cleaned with the ultrasonic cleaner, they are rather pricey to keep a spare set around though. Prechamber diesel engines can have their prechambers full of soot. For how to clean that check out Kent Bergsma's youtube channel (he's a Mercedes specialist and knows what he is talking about). As for this method of cleaning an engine, it indeed can give you a bit smoother engine but bear in mind that you only tackle the inside engine problem which is often only 10% of the problem or less and at best you solve it only half. As for risks, if you don't overdo it you will not do too much harm. One word of advice though, just to be on the safe side use vapor instead of water. It will condns in the inlet manifold a bit but once sucked in it will revaporise again as soon as compression begins and mix some oil in the water tank of your vaporiser so you don't distort the oil film in the cilinders too much. If so equiped replace the emission gear in your exhaust system with a straight tube while performing this trick. Conclusion: if you're driving a 100$ banger, do this but use an atomizer. If you drive a car of still a certain value, do it the proper way.

Yeah well I suspect that people are far more trusting of a fancy bottle of stuff and the manufacturers of the products no doubt put out propaganda to promote it.. I tried it on a jtd that runs veg oil as soon as it bogs down I revved it plenty of stinky black stuff came out.. Hopefully helped with any ring gumming.. Somebody will be along to tell me I just knackered the engine I'm sure, actually it runs quite nicely being remapped and tinkered with a fair bit.. I put three liters through in increments with a pump sprayer and warmed engine. Oh and it's brand new veg oil.
