OMG! That Lisa Frank notebook really brought back memories. I used to save all kinds of newspaper clippings, but I decluttered that a very long time ago because I was keeping stupid stuff. I save some greeting cards, those from very special occasions, or the last notes I know I will ever receive from a particular person, but I don't save all my greeting cards.
Cards! Great video Kristen! I have dealt with my cards already and now have a system in place. I had a big tote of cards that I had kept for years. Each year in chronological order and held together with a rubber band. While I didn't have every card of my childhood... I had kept a lot of special ones. One day, several years ago, I took that tote and started the card process. I sorted much as you did. The special cards I kept are now in a basket in my office. I keep the current year cards in the front and at the end of the year go through and purge those that I don't want. If the basket is getting full... I have decisions to make and need to decide which cards need to go. My husband I and do not exchange cards anymore. We would usually purchase Dollar Tree cards and many years we had purchased the same card two or three times! That was when I said enough!
I'd really like to see your shutterfly books as i have no idea what the are. As for cards, ive got all of my cards, letters, etc in 2 boxes in my bookcase. They sit neatly in there, one on top of each other.
Great video! I am in the process of going through mine and my parents pictures and memorabilia, as well as my Dad's parents things too. Me and my parents have saved everything and my grandparent's were just as bad. My grandparents had over 60 photo albums stacked in their closet shelf (not to mention all of the boxes full of pictures in a closet and pictures stuffed in drawers and frames. I have gone through a lot of their pictures and given away a lot to my cousins, Aunt's and Uncles and even some of my Dad's cousins, but I still have tons of duplicates of the ones I gave away. So far I have just pictures of me from baby to high school in a box (as well as pictures of me with other family and friends). I am hoping to put these in some kind of scrapbook or album. I want to do the same with my Dad and also my Mom. My grandmother made a scrapbook years ago for my Mom. It was falling apart so I took pictures of every page and put the pictures in a newer album. I need to sit down and add more to her album. I just hate having boxes and boxes of pictures and stuff and not knowing where everything. I also hope to do an album of my grandfather's side of the family, one for my grandmother's side of the family and one for my grandparents and their family together. Not sure what to do, as I have pictures of grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents and even some 3rd greats, as well as cousins, Aunt's and Uncles spanning many generations. Those are great folders that you did with your news clippings and certificates. I might have to do something similar. Thank you so much for this video!
My daughter cuts the greeting card in half and glues it to her journal. She also does this with obituaries and the little papers they give you on family night at the funeral home. Do y'all keep those?
It's the guilt of getting rid of cards and I did keep cards that are written and got rid of Christmas cards from friends and family and kept the pic Christmas cards.
