We always do two extra top coats of our outdoor grade lacquer to make them water resistant :) have fun making them! So great to have something fully personalised for your home! 😊 - they also make great gifts!
Thanks Josh :) In this tutorial we used The Artisan Company lacquer. The pros are that it is thin so doesn't give too many wrinkles or bubbles and that it's exterior grade making it perfect for putting drinks on. PVA is a cheaper option and can definitely be used. When using PVA we recommend watering it down so that it runs off your brush before using. Hope that helps!
Nice work! Hot tip with sanding edges thankyou❤ no wonky cutting! Have U seen Escape to the chateau s 9 ep 1? The wedding atelier....she does full sized tiles & makes amazing patchwork table.. I'm going to make some "William Morris" napkin tiles for Fire surrounds & room borders in kitchen....happy gluing😊(did U make own glue/ water mix?....)
Thank you, I'm glad it was helpful 😊 We use the chalk paint lacquer that we sell as it's a great top coat, but you can also water down a standard white school glue until it runs off the brush - you don't want it too thick. I'll have to check that episode out, I love Escape to the Chateau and went to their live show when they came down to New Zealand 😄
Yes we use lacquer as both the glue and top coat, and we sell it :) any sheen works but we've been into gloss on the ceramics recently! You can find them here: dooneyanddaughters.co.nz/collections/waxes-lacquers
You want to brush the glue on really lightly over the top, don't press your brush down too hard. You also don't need much glue on your brush, the napkins tend to tear when they get too wet. You can also remedy any torn areas, when dry tear another bit out of your napkin and patch it on. I hope that helps :)
Hi, in this tutorial we use napkins, lacquer and ceramic coasters. If you're in New Zealand we sell it at www.dooneyanddaughters.co.nz :) We also have more info on our blog which you can see here: dooneyanddaughters.co.nz/blogs/news/how-to-decoupage-on-ceramic-coasters
@@jsdunbar07 sorry, at this point we don't, but there are a lot of craft places in South Africa that will have similar products :) I'm sure there are some great South African facebook groups to join!
